Whenever I talk about details on Style Me Pretty, this is essentially the wedding that I am envisioning. The picture perfect little details threaded through every element of today’s featured affair, shot by Kendrick and David for Our Labor of Love, are almost too much to bear. Everything was DIY…Program Fans, Lavender Seed Packets, China place settings, Napkins, Table Runners, and Haybale Covers, Seating Card and the Hanging Grass Baskets for the chairs at the ceremony. And it was all total perfection, with each and every touch fitting and completely appropriate for the style. Love that.
And if you can’t wait for our next post on this affair, head on over to Our Labor of Love for more pictures and details!

I mean seriously…the menu alone is enough to send me clear over the edge. Throw in those adorable jam favors and a couple of cute signs and you’ve pretty much got me. But what I love the most is that each and every detail, each and every little touch of pretty, seems like it was made especially for this space. The style is so cohesive, so effortlessly lovely. It’s kind of like when your mom tells you that make-up should look like you aren’t wearing any at all. Every detail of this wedding just looks like it was made for this day alone.

We have lots more coming up from Our Labor of Love in just a bit! In the meantime, if you haven’t already checked out their RIDICULOUSLY gorgeous blog, you are in for such a treat!
ok, I gotta know...how long did you plan this wedding and did you do it all your self?
That menu sounds so yummy!
The wedding planning came in spurts since I was finishing up my masters degree. We were lucky enough to find our venue, Claxton Farm, the week we got engaged (aug 08). We were doing everything from afar, so I was fortunate enough to find the most excellent wedding planners at Asheville Event Company (Melissa and Becca) who set up a whirlwind tour of vendor meetings during January. We found the most excellent people to work with who really understood the vision we were going for. I had a little book of images I brought around everywhere to share. All the little details really didn't start coming together until after I graduated in May and was fortunate enough to have June - Sept to be in craft and yard sale heaven.
The details of the wedding truly were a group effort. We had an amazing florist from Bloom Room who brought decorative elements along with gorgeous flowers. I got a lot of little items, like china plates and galvanized pales, at yard sales. The paper products were a mix of DIY and the talents of Miss Pickles Press (stirrers, napkins, and jam labels). My sister, Melissa and Becca were totally hands on too, helping make all kinds of stuff from the paddle fan programs, the grass baskets, the welcome baskets, the seed packets, and the list goes on. I kept getting new ideas and would be painting signs, making tags, and stamping things like crazy. Incorporating fabric was also an obsession so I bought all the fabric for the napkins and table runners and had a local woman sew them, but I sewed little clutches for all the women in our family, as well as the ring pillow and glass bag. You can definitely say I became truly obsessed with the details and took a lot on, but I absolutely LOVED being blessed with the time to do it and had tons of fun. Not every bride gets 3 months to get DIY crazy!
beautiful, jamie! everything came together just perfectly – your vision was spot on. so glad we could be a part of your lovely, creative wedding.
I love the "hoedown" sign! Too cute!
This affair is truly a "Labor of Love" (pun totally intended! LOL). We're pretty big fans as well of the template for the activity to engage younger guests. In fact, we just featured it this morning believe it or not! Congratulations on such a gorgeous wedding. Bravo!!
Where can I find the template for the I Spy activity list??? I saw it in a magazine and fell in love. I've been planning to use it, but don't want to reinvent the wheel.
the color palette is just beautiful! and the details, like the parasols, the favors and the "I Spy" game - and even the color of the chalk on the chalkboard! - are just perfect! the photographer did a great job in capturing the essence of the wedding, too. i love this rustic theme! very inspiring! thanks so much for sharing!
Love the little birds- did you get them from www.whisperingpinescatalog.com?
I may crib the chalkboard in all those beautiful colors--what a cool idea!
I LOVE the jam jars as favors. the colors are amazing and the couple must be too! Wish I could have seen it in person!!
Jamie, are you doing a PhD program or were you done with school when you finished your masters? Totally unrelated to the style of the wedding (which I adore) but I'm working on a PhD now and my fiance and I are trying to figure out what the best time for our wedding would be school-wise. Anyway, congrats on a beautiful wedding and completing your masters!
Thank you all for such wonderful comments. For Alex, I finished a masters only program in policy and urban planning, so it was much less intense then a PhD program. I have had several friends recently finish a PhD and can sympathize with how long your in for ;-) so I guess it depends on how far you are into your dissertation. I did all of the early planning (space, caterer, music, planner, florist, baker) before I began writing my thesis and then the details came after I graduated. I was completely checked out of wedding during the last semester of my program. That being said, I had two friends who had beautiful weddings that they had to finalize DURING our thesis year. It all depends on how much you want to take on and how high a stress level you can withstand. Get a planner if you can. It was amazing how helpful they were in keeping things in order and reducing my stress. Hope that helps!
