A few weeks ago, Abby featured a wedding by Martha Andrews that was just loaded with floral gorgeousness. So we were thrilled to receive today’s wedding from Martha ~ a wedding and reception at the historic Firehouse Restaurant in Old Sacramento…

Their photographer, Jessica, at Stout Photography sent us this info about the couple and the day …

Dave and Jenny’s wedding was a long awaited, MUCH anticipated, exclusive event of the year!  My good friend and fellow photographer friend Dave married his high school sweetheart and mother of his two beautiful children at the Firehouse Restaurant in Old Sacramento. Wow, so much to say! First of all, I’ll start by saying there was an absolute role-reversal in planning this wedding. Dave (admittedly) was the “Bride”, handling all the vendor selections, planning and details. With a little push in the right direction from me, he got in touch with Martha Andrews of Blooms. Together, they took his and Jenny’s ideas and added Martha’s artistry!

And from Martha

The Firehouse Restaurant is an institution in town, where law makers, governors etc… frequent. It really WAS originally a firehouse! Jenny and Dave started the day off in downtown Sacramento, a lovely old building that has been converted into a boutique hotel ~ The Citizen Hotel. The groom, an aspiring photographer  basically gave me a color scheme and told me to do whatever I wanted because he trusted me. I went with twigs hung with crystals and votive candles, then candles embedded in the flower base. Down the aisle I floated orchids in gel and topped it off with floating candles. I made the flower girl basket out of flowers. I hung crystal votives in the trees surrounding the courtyard and flowers in the fountain.

  10. THE GROOM says:

I love looking at these photos... Martha was so amazing, my good friend and photographer Jessica brought her signature style, and combined with our DIY details, we were able to have a completely breathtaking evening! @ Cassidy- Yes, we did have the ceremony at the The Firehouse.. short and sweet! Since this is a happenin place for brides-to-be... a few things I can pass along:

    1. Let your Florist do what they do best.... Martha was way better at blowing my mind than I could ever be... there was cabbage in the fountain. CABBAGE! If you are in Sacramento, call her.. (916) 300-5948, and I promise you will end up writing me a thank you note. 2, Trim the guest list and go DIY for some items, and you can have an amazing day for less than $15,000. I'm talkin chic Hotel room for getting ready, Bespoke tailored suit for me (to go with the fab dress), Filet Mignon for the guests, and lots of my favorite flower (orchids). We saved money by making all of our paper products ( invitations, place cards, Table numbers and table number holders) ourselves...and I used my website for RSVP duty... no postage, less paper goods.
    3. Do a "First Look" and you will have more un-believeable photos than you will know what to do with. We gave Jessica 2.5 hours for our portraits instead of 20 minutes...and she gave me solid gold photos because she had time to be picky about backgrounds, poses, etc, and really flex her high skill level. We are soooooo glad we did this!

Thank you StyleMePretty and all of you fabulous people for your comments!
