I knew that you guys would be charmed by today’s Science Themed Affair. It’s hard not to fall in love with a palette that is so chic, with details that are so endearing, with personality and style to boot. Plus, the bride found tons of inspiration right here on Style Me Pretty so this one has a special place in my heart…

From the bride…
My husband and I both got our degrees in Biology and both work at different BioPharmaceutical companies. I really wanted to make our special day fun and elegant and most of all ‘US.’ So, I thought it would only be fitting to have a science themed wedding. I came up with ‘DnA’ which means Dexter n Angela, but is also a science term. We carried this from our Save the Dates onto our wedding day. My awesome wedding coordinator who also made our save the dates and invitations came up with a logo to add to everything paper.
We had two different centerpieces. Our first centerpiece were beakers and flasks filled with hydrangeas, ranunculus, and snap dragons. My florist filled the lab glassware with pink water. Our second centerpiece was reused from the ceremony to save money.

Instead of table numbers, we used elements from the periodic table. We had a gobo that was displayed on the dance floor with our DnA logo. We also had the oh so infamous candy bar. All pink candy! It was a huge hit. For the little ones, I did the DIY Project: Kid’s Tins also featured on your blog! The tins included a coloring book, crayons, bubbles, “i only have eyes for you” 3-D glasses, and squishy rings that lit up. Out on the balcony, I wrapped white vellum paper around cylinders and put a candle in it. On the vellum paper I printed the DNA structure to keep the science theme going…nerdy, yes!
This day wouldn’t have been possible without our wonderful vendors. First off, our day of wedding coordinator Melanie Montoya of Something Blue Weddings and owner of Fresh Invitation Studio really made the
whole day go so smoothly. Our photographers, Trailbrook really captured the day soo well!! We were on a budget, but went all out with pictures. Well worth every penny!!
Tessilk, our florist, really went the extra mile to add extra touches of flowers onto the cake and head table. All the flowers were amazing. Our Videographer, Daniel Boswell of dv Artisitry, was awesome! We also had a same day edit video which was shown towards the end of our reception and was just mind blowing.
So that’s it folks! An adorable themed wedding pulled off with style. Pretty great, right!?

I am so impressed with the usage of the lab binker for the centerpiece holders. The colored water was also super genius!
Very inspiring indeed, love your website.
Love those details! The pink is such an unexpected pop.
I love your color scheme, so creative - love the science theme - thanks for sharing
The "vases" and DnA were such a great idea!
This is amazing! 'm getting married in July. My boyfriend is a Chemist and a Pharmacist so the instant idea for my theme was love chemistry. I have been keeping notes since May on how it would be like and wow Angela your wedding has a lot of thinks I would have wanted! Even color wise! Congrats it looks great!
Such clever ideas! And I loved the color scheme. Thanks.
Very cute! Great idea, and so creative! Details on where to get the rock candy, please! ;p
I love it! So personal. Question: What were your resources for the matches and sparklers?
Hi, this is a great website with lots of great inspiration. What good Ideas. I love the perfect matching colors - that's the way I would do it. I am looking forward to her much more.
Libby - the matches were so easy to make. i used some left over paper from the paper i used to line my wedding invitation envelopes and double stick tape.
as for the sparklers, do you mean the labels? i used a hole puncher, decorative scissors and ribbon to tie it to the sparkler.
hope that helps!
Very cute idea. I love seeing how imaginative people get with their weddings.
What a great idea! I'm a biology major (hoping to go to medical school!). At first a science themed wedding sounds kind of tacky, but this is adorable and the nods to science are cute! : )
amazing details! Where did you purchase the matches for you DIY project. I am working on similar project but I cant seem to locate them.
Hi Elvi - thanks! I purchased the matches at Smart & Final.
So witty, I LOVE it!
Lovely wedding! Where did you get all your stationary printed? Did you have to buy your font?
Thanks Pipa! My amazing coordinator Melanie also does invitations, so she did most of our stationary.
