There is nothing subtle about this wedding. It’s an absolute celebration of all things gorgeous…color that is as vivid as it is chic, style that is undeniably breathtaking and a sense of joy that is threaded into every detail. Art Direction, design and planning by the bride and groom (Ravi and Kristi), event coordination and production by Spotlight Style.
Oh and the photographs by Michael Falco for Christian Oth completely bring it to life!

Our interfaith reverend, Rev. Susanna Stefanachi Macomb, was amazing! There was not one dry eye left and she managed to capture us perfectly and inject some humor too! It was simply breathtaking. She honored our love, she honored our parents, she spoke so poignantly. Her words and our words coupled with the vibrant Mandap, which is a 4 pillared Hindu altar, were stunning.
We used the fabrics from India coupled with ones from Ikea to create the rich palette. I strung fake lei’s together to create long strips of hanging flowers that flowed in the wind. We set up an altar table that contained all our offerings, a copy of the Bible and Bhagava Gita and several personal items that were meaningful to us.Our aisle runner was a bright orange raw silk straight from India and we used Sari’s as decor everywhere. The most precious part of the the ceremony decor for me was the ribbon wall that framed the freight elevator.

After all of our attendants danced in, that’s right they shimmied on down the aisle to “In your Eyes” by Peter Gabriel, they created a soul train line that a crazy, dancing groom then grooved down. There were cat calls and bum taps and everything you’d want when you dance your solo!
Shortly after, I emerged from the freight elevator to the “Somewhere Over the Rainbow/Wonderful World” version by Israel Kamakawiwo’ole. Beside the fact that it’s a beautiful song, I’m from Kansas so the Somewhere Over the Rainbow has a lot of meaning for me. In my gorgeous, eggshell Matthew Christopher mermaid gown with modern, urban detailing, and decked out with full Henna on my hands and arms, over-the-top orange Indian jewelry, bangles and a tikka hanging from my hair onto my forehead, I also danced my way down the aisle in my bright orange Gucci shoes!
I met my mom part of the way down and together we two-stepped to my groom. It was both uplifting and touching and was exactly who Ravi and I wanted to be at that moment.

Gorgeous colors! I love seeing a multicultural wedding on SMP - I am from Hindu/Indian descent and my fiance and I wanted to ingtegrate pieces of my background into our ceremony...i love seeing how the 7 steps were created with a candle (we are at historical site that will NOT allow an open flame) thank you SO much for sharing - love the ideas!!!!
SO MUCH about this wedding is so incredibly awesome, beautiful, unique and fun - I wish I could jump into the pictures! :)
I wish I was at this wedding....this looks like the party of the year!
Oh. My. God. I literally have chill bumps. This is gorgeous and you guys look euphoric! The colors are so rich and stunning. Even the reverend looks like she belongs in the decor with her hot red lips and adorable orange specs!
Congrats!
This is THE coolest wedding ever! Period. Thanks for sharing.
I totally agree with Lindsey and I LOVE the courthouse video!
What a clever bride! I LOVE how she mixed it up by wearing a white wedding dress but then added the Indian jewelry, bangles, henna hands, and orange veil. SMART! There is an undeniable JOY that pops from these images.I wish I could have been there to join the celebration :)
GOD! I love this wedding!
This looks like the funnest wedding ceremony ever...usually people just want to skip the ceremony for the fun of the reception, but this has the whole day being a blast!
Gorgeous and unique-- we love it!
So amazing how they blended traditions! I absolutely love it!!! One of the best I've seen!

This is AWESOME! Thank you for sharing this fun wedding!
Can I just say that she might be one of my favorite brides EVER?!?! She's so original, unique, and comfortable in her own shoes?!?! Everything about her exudes who she is! I love this wedding! It just makes me smile and it makes me want to make my wedding so much more special than I already want to!!!
I just love it! and I love the one picture, I think it's posted in a set before this where they are on the street and it must be outside of a liquor store! Priceless! What a great photographer! I'm so jealous of this wedding! It's a Bollywood Beauty!
As if I could love this anymore! We are planning to use IZ to walk in as well. This wedding is beyond dreamy! Honestly, sometimes it makes me think "Where are these people from?!" cause I don't know anyone so cool! haha
The bride and groom seem to be really fun people! Love that they coreographed their first dance! It gives the guests something fun to watch instead of two people swaying meaninglessly around the dance floor. I was wondering though, if they had always planned on their wedding party dancing down the aisle or if the recent viral video of the dancing wedding inspired them to do so?
Thanks to all for your responses! It's very touching for us to know that our joy and design comes through to clearly! Please keep asking any questions you have... I'm sort of wedding obsessed now!!
Our wedding was incredibly fun. We wanted it to be poignant but light hearted and a true celebration of all the reasons we want to be together! As for the dancing... we had been practicing our first dance for months and started talking about the flow of the ceremony and decided that it needed to be fun and unexpected too... the viral video came out right before our wedding and I was like, "Oh no! Someone else got to it before us!" But that video was so good that I was like, they deserve some props for that. We totally surprised our wedding party with the dancing news the morning before the wedding, at our rehearsal. Everyone was a really good sport about it and got into it! Our friends and family were totally amazing... we hope to get our videos of the dances back soon and will post to youtube. I'm dying to see the Bollywood dance on dvd! ha.
IZ has the most amazing voice. That song has so many good vibes! I love it!!
Vaneesha,
Our Agni was actually about 30 floating candles in a deep vase full of water. The candles on the table are unity candles which we had our family come up to light to symbolize the acceptance and coming together. All the candles were a really great solution! They also have battery operated candles that look real if that helps!
Good luck to you all! Your day will be amazing too, you can't help but glow and oooze love all day long!!!
Gorgeous. Love how they blended the 2 cultures.
Stunning!!!
BRAVO to the bride and groom for stepping so far out of the "wedding" box. I LOVE the diversity and how they were able to mesh their cultures so stylishly!
Oh my Word! This wedding just makes me catch my breath! Love it, love it, the details, the descriptions, the beauty. It is wonderful. More pretty please! More of these kinds of weddings!
Hey Kristi, where did you get your veil from? I am trying to incorporate a burgundy veil into my ivory dress but am having trouble finding it using google.
Thanks! And your wedding looked amazing!
Hi Kristi! I love the 2nd picture above (the one with the two rings and what looks like an invitation underneath the rings) and I'm wondering if that was actually your invitation? Or a save-the-date card? It is just adorable! Where did you get your cards from? Thanks!
Hi there! Thanks for your compliments!
The design you are referring to is actually our save the date. My husband and I are both creative directors and designers so this is our original design. We wanted something that channeled Indian culture and color but was contemporary and felt like it would set the stage for an NYC loft party. We also wanted a light, fun feeling. We created the characters and the design together, which was super fun. We do branding for companies for a living so we approached this as a branding project, creating a full suite of save the dates, invites, menus, posters, programs, mirror and window graphics etc. Basically we created a tool kit of graphic elements and colors that we could use in many different ways depending on the usage and needs... it makes everything hold together while still allowing each piece to have it's own character.
I'm actually hoping to move my business more into overall event design which would include something as simple as the invites and range all the way to the overall design and decor of the event(s). My design website is monkeywhat.com which currently does not feature any invites or events but has a ton of design projects to view. If you are interested in speaking more about our new design services, please feel free to contact me at play@monkeywhat.com and I'd be happy to tell you more about the process etc.
Good luck and have a ball with all the planning!
All the best,
Kristi
Sarishni,
Hi there! I actually made my veil out of sari like material that I tracked down in the fabric district in NYC. I put it together mostly and then my fabulous seamstress made it real for me (she added it in as a special gift) and delivered it when she handed off my dresses with all their final alterations! I would start by finding the material you love and then talk with your alterations person or a friend who knows how to sew and see if they can help you out. I haven't seen any colored veils already created and on the market that I like.
Hope that is helpful. Good luck!!
Best,
Kristi
