Pretty in Pink, II

September 8th. 2009 by Abby Larson | Filed Under | 24 comments

I am totally jumping the wedding ship for a few hours to share with you my favorite party ever…my daughter’s first birthday! The only reason that I feel like this is totally allowed is that SO many of the details were inspired by past weddings and events we’ve featured here on SMP. So, without further ado, here is the prettiness in full effect!

The “theme” (and I use that word really lightly, because I am not big on themes) was Pretty in Pink! We held the party at my in-law’s house so that we could take full advantage of their gorgeous backyard. I had pink balls of every shape and size, HUGE pink balloons, a tin filled with pink water baloons, pink paper poms in every shade and pink lemonade cocktails for the kids to enjoy.

Inside, we decorated with massive pink balloons, cupcakes that took center stage on the table, a GORGEOUS bunting from Daisy and Dots on Etsy and favors for the kiddos…customized bubble tins and bags of homemade chocolate chip cookies. A little later today, Jenn, over at the Hostess Blog is doing a DIY on the bubble favors and is including a template that you can print out at home.

Yay! Audrey is one! Hard to believe it. You did a fantastic job with the party Abby. I had my doubts about the water balloons(!). The squishy cupcake shot is priceless.

I just have to comment. Again. I'm at work, but I keep checking back for more pics. I love your blog because I can "steal" ideas that are non-wedding. Can you recommend your favorite sites or blogs for children's parties?

This is absolutely gorgeous!!!! The attention to detail is amazing! I came across this in a web search as my 12 year daughter has wanted a pretty in pink party for her next birthday! Such a cute and fabulous theme - it can cover any age or event. Any thoughts or ideas on adapting this theme to a teen party? You did a wonderful job on your daughter's party - I know you all will treasure the memories forever.

Abby - Any ideas on how to transfer this party theme to one for a girl turning 13? She loves the Pretty in Pink theme but has outgrown petting zoos, etc. I would LOVE your thoughts on this! Thanks!!!!

What invitations did you use for the party? Did you make them yourself or did you get them from a website? Do you have a picture?
