The fabulous Jennifer Smith over at Alders Photography sent us today’s second featured wedding. It’s no wonder she fell hard for the cute style that this bride infused…it’s charming, it’s approachable, it’s whimsical and completely handmade. If you are willing to dive in and get your hands a little dirty, there are so many fun ideas to steal from this day!

From Jennifer…
The bride did all the details herself, meticulously sewing flags and flowers, getting wood samples for the escort cards, burning names in flat pieces of wood for the place cards. She bought her dress on Ebay and had silk straps attached, she designed and hand stamped their logo all over napkins, their save-the-date and invitations and she added personal touches like owl salt and pepper shakers at their sweetheart table. A white chandelier was hung above the table as well.

She printed the menus, photo booth signs, signs for the wishes table, origins table, and birdcage card holder. She even made beaded initials for the vases that the bride’s maids bouquets to go in at the reception. I could go on and on. But there was no planner, the bride executed everything flawlessly, and without stress. It just all came together on the wedding day.

Okay, So I am hoping that this bride is on the Style Circle, cause I have soooo many questions for her!!!!
She is such an encouragement!
hi katie jo....i was just about to sign up for the style circle when it opened up before our wedding, but as you can imagine...things were a little hectic, so I'll definitely be on there soon!
Did you make the napkins or buy them somewhere? I love the print of the one on your sweetheart table! Beautiful wedding . . .
Well done - I love all the creative little handmade details! Question about the birdcage - does it easily open up for guests to slip their cards inside? I am thinking of using something similar. Thanks!
It all came together with a lot of work, I'm sure. Lovely wedding and I'm sure she had many helpers!
This is incredible!!!!
hi lawren: you'll notice the guests all have striped napkins...and unfortunately...we didn't have enough for us when we added more guests so I picked up napkins for the sweetheart table and the bridal party from Pier 1 Imports. That was definitely a last minute detail that worked out :)
hi maria: the brid cage has a small hook in the front and it opened up with complete ease!
Adorable! I love it when a bride does things herself. You go girl!
Is your dress the Casablanca 1900 with straps? If so, where did you buy it? I was thinking of adding straps to that gown, but hadn't seen anyone who had done it. It looks so good on you!
Wow, the bride's hard work paid off, great job!
hi kathryn! it is indeed casablanca 1900. isn't it funny how you can spot your own dress a million miles away! I worked with a seamstress who added the straps on for me. You can definitely see more photo's on Jenny's blog (http://aldersphotography.blogspot.com/ ). We tried it with scattered lace at first, but then it was too much so we removed them to keep it simple. The hardest part was trying to find fabric to match the champagne empire band and luckily she had something that worked out perfect! Good luck and I can't wait to see what you do with the dress!
Lovely wedding... love the owls (salt and pepper) !
SO beautiful! I'm attempting some similar DIY projects for our November wedding in the Ozarks! I'd love to know what font you used and/or how you printed the adorable signs for the various things (card holder, etc). Wonderful wedding!
I love the glass vases in the different shapes. What a beautiful touch. Where did you get them?
hello candice...I'm so happy you noticed them. I picked up assorted recycled glass vases in the clearance section from 4 different Pier 1's. I pretty much cleaned them out every time I visited. A great tip...after holiday sales are the PERFECT time to find amazing deals on wedding decor for all seasons!
hi meaghan: i'm such a cheater...i used a template from adobe illustrator for the birdcage card. Font's i used included rosewood for "wishes", which i found for free here (http://vintageglamblog.com/2008/12/freebie-fridays-western-fonts/ ), and Campbell (i think this is a standard PC font) was used for "seats." Hmm...feel free to let me know if you would like to know the name of a more specific font. I've never purchased a font so there's definitely some beautiful FREE fonts out there for use!
They were printed on white 8.5 x 11 adhesive sheets...and then I adhered them onto kraft chipboard...sometimes you get when you receive packages, but a trader joe's grocery bag will also work just dandy. And then voila! I would say don't be afraid of using fun shapes! You can give them some depth by layering them and cutting along their path to keep their character. Attach with pretty ribbon, twine, rafia, or fabric and you'll have a pretty piece to show off!
I pretty much squealed at the sight of this wedding, I'm so in LOVE with all the DIY features!! Can't wait to learn more details, and maybe some templates we can try out? Job well done angelique, bravo!!
I love your seat swatches! Where did you find all of the cute fabric and also your cute lace votive holders? So pretty! Such great details...makes me inspired to diy! We just booked Jenny as our photographer and I'm so glad we did! Falling in love with all of her photos.
this is close to what we are doing for our table decor! vintage owls, varying sizes of vintage vases/flowers and candles! LOVE it. :)
I have to say that the photographer is perfect.
