Malibu Chic Wedding by Karen Wise, II

September 2nd. 2009 by Abby Larson | Filed Under | 23 comments

This wedding is about as pretty as a wedding could possibly be. From the stunning bride and groom, to the flowers that are right out of a painting, to the photographs that Karen Wise shot…every detail is perfection. And, what’s even more exciting is that the beautiful bride, Catherine, loves Style Me Pretty (she even said love, love, love!) and has agreed to share all of the pretty details with us today!

From Catherine…

I am an avid and devoted reader of your blog and I read it daily (seriously!) for inspiration while planning my own wedding.   Planning was no easy feat for us because Ken and I both live and work in Beijing, China.  We chose to have our wedding in Los Angeles because we both grew up there and most of our family and friends there.   We had our wedding on June 6, 2009 at the Saddlerock Ranch in Malibu, California with 220 guests.

We wanted someplace beautiful, intimate, and special—we wanted our guests to feel like they stepped into a fairy tale.  Saddlerock Ranch was the first place I visited and we immediately knew it was the one!  The location is so picturesque and provided the natural beauty of the Santa Monica mountains, lush green lawns, and animals.

It was January 2009 and I only had 5 months of planning time, so I poured my heart and energy into making our dream wedding happen.  I was also very lucky because Ken was actively involved with me in some of the projects.  I’m a girly-girl and had to choose pink and chocolate brown as our colors. The cherry blossom design was our theme throughout the wedding—from our invitations to our wedding cake and cupcakes.  I was going for a romantic and rustic feel and tried to incorporate as many personal touches and details as we could.

Catherine - your wedding is so incredibly gorgeous!!!!! I love your details, colors and venue, feel, centerpieces....etc. Your dress looks very similar to the one I have chosen and your sash is GORGEOUS - I have yet to choose mine - could you please tell us the designer of your dress and sash? It looks like my monique lhuillier nadia dress!

  8. Catherine says:

Thank you for all your responses! I will try to answer your questions in order, I hope this helps!

-The earrings were purchased and sold exclusively at Sakes Fifth Avenue.
-The shoes are by Rene Caovilla.
-The hanging twinkle lights were already there at the venue. I rented 8 chandeliers from Classic Party Rentals and those were hanging from different trees.
-My mom will be so happy to hear that =) Her dress is by Lanvin, in case you were wondering.
-The flower girl's dress is from J Crew and their shoes are from Zara.
-My dress is by Lazaro and the sash was part of the design.

Two questions I do have... did you hire a coordinator, if so who? and who did your catering?
    Thanks and again, congrats!!!

What an amazingly gorgeous wedding! I love the different shades of pink!

  12. I always forget that California is in the South. These wedding photographs truly capture that feeling and quickly reminded me of the weeping willows and the tire swings of the south. What a lovely bride, she looks like she had an amazing experience :)

  13. Catherine says:

Congratulations Cynthia! You will love everything about the venue. My coordinator is Linda of Lavish Celebrations. The catering is by The Kitchen For Exploring Foods and they are located in Pasadena. They are the best, very reasonably priced and we received so many compliments on the food--our guests (some are real foodies) were surprised how delicious everything was for an outdoor location. It's also nice to know that they also catered Fergie's and Avril Levign's wedding!
