Elopement in Mexico by Lisa Vorce + Aaron Delesie

September 1st. 2009 by Abby Larson | Filed Under | 11 comments

I think that this might be the first elopement that we’ve ever featured on SMP! And, it’s a pretty drop-dead-gorgeous elopement at that! Lisa Vorce of Oh How Charming! is the designer behind this amazing spread and Aaron Delesie is the photographer. It’s a Lisa + Aaron kind of day here and I am SO glad that they have agreed to share all of this gorgeousness.

All my weddings hold a dear place in my heart — but this one is extra special!! I was working in my studio one day and received a phone call from a potential client named Kara. She told me that she and her fiance were going to elope. All she really wanted was for me to design a special “table for two” for her elopement. I got so excited about being involved in an elopement and the thought of designing one very special table — that I kind of went a little out of control. I wanted to design the entire wedding!

I knew of the perfect little romantic hacienda in Mexico for Kara and Ray — and knew my amazing team would be on board to rock out an elopement (and not just a table for two!). I told Kara my thoughts and she was delighted! From that moment on — she let me do my thing and said “I trust you”. (Music to my ears!)

I love this wedding...especially the photo of the bride on the patio overlooking the steeple! What is the name of the hacienda?

SO EXCITED! We just hit 2 months to our wedding this past weekend.... and it's at a villa in Puerto Vallarta. I would recognize that church anyday... we were almost going to hold the ceremony there, but instead, on our visit back in April, were blown away by the wonderful rooftop terrace at our site, Quinta Maria Cortez.. it looks out at the Bay from the cliffs just south of old town, has trailing bougainvillea and iron railing, old stone crosses... just gorgeous!

All of the pom poms (in the making this next week) over the last week inspired me, but this even more so!!!

    - you wanted more suggestions on what kinds of weddings to feature, and I say destination, so you can get more vendors that are in other locations. I'll be happy to pass on my info after October.

  9. more pics of Kara and Ray's wedding are on www.aarondelesie.com her hair was absolutely gorgeous. kara is such a beautiful bride. we had so much fun photographing her and her adorable husband Ray! Aaron and I travel all the time for weddings and I have to say this destination is in my top 3 locations. Sooooo charming. Of course Lisa Vorce made it even more amazing with all of the details. As a photographer it is a treat to work with Lisa and Mindy Rice. There work is inspiring and so much fun to photograph. I loved everything about Kara and Ray's wedding. Such a wonderful experience.

Any idea what kind of wine was in the gift basket? The bottle is beautiful!

  11. Kara Johnson says:

Our gift basket actually had a bottle tequila in it. It's Don Julio 1942 and seriously the best tequila ever!
