from the delightful bride, Sarah …
Bryan and I were married at the Wooden Gallery in Chicago’s Wicker Park neighborhood. The gallery is a hidden gem, buried between brownstones and filled with incredible sculptures, paintings, photographs, an antique pulpit and vintage bar too. Behind the unassuming metal door, the gallery’s artwork set a neutral background for the warm eggplant and pewter touches which were found throughout the wedding celebration. The gallery was perfect for us – creative and cozy, fun and festive – very intimate and very US, it set the tone for the year of planning that would follow.
Next, the dress. With no preconceived notions, the Junko Yoshioka dress was the last dress of the day (of about 30) that I tried on… It was the only one I danced around in!
With the venue and the dress in place, the rest of the wedding details developed around an organic, vintage romance. The evening wedding started when Bryan and our hosts/esses greeted guest with Spanish Cava and lead them into the ceremony area. The decor was warm and rich – eggplant and pewter – while rose petals and candelabras adorned the aisle. Some guests sat while most stood.
My entrance was from the loft above – holy stairs! After sharing vows which we had prepared, we welcomed everyone to share our favorite brew: a Boulevard Unfiltered Wheat before dinner and dancing. A live band exceeded everyone’s expectations and the dance floor remained full throughout the evening. In lieu of favors, we made a donation to the Midwest Labrador Retriever Rescue. This final touch was again, so US.

What an absolutely wonderful wedding!!
Our thanks to Artisan Events for sharing and our special congrats to Sarah & Bryan!
* * *
We featured another of Artisan Events‘ weddings last March on Style Me Pretty … take a look back at the five part feature (1, 2, 3, 4, 5) Nicholas & Anna’s wedding in Chicago at Salvage One, another really great wedding venue!
sarah and bryan, congratulations! your wedding was beautiful! i love, love, love the 'in the street' photos. and your dark, dark flowers. so gorgeous and romantic. pam
Gorgeous wedding, dripping with romanticism! I love it! SARAH- I love your Jimmy CHoos!!! What model were they? Those are the types of shoes I am looking for to go with my dress!
That dress is a dream. Fabulous pictures.
I live in Chicago - love seeing fun Chicago based weddings, absolutely gorgeous and I love the venue!!!
Lovely wedding! I adore the pewter bridesmaid dresses and they are exactly what I am looking for. Does anyone know the designer? Thanks!
Iloved this wedding all the way up until... *dun dun dun* THE NAKED PHOTOS?! Somebody fill me in here, maybe I'm being just insensitive or conservative but really??
I love the bridesmaid's dresses! Could we get some more info on them?
Okay I have to comment on the naked photos too-- is that the couple? Either way I think it's awesome. Extremely original and way daring. I love it.
Beautiful wedding! Where do I find those jimmy choo shoes, they're exactly what I'm looking for.
Hello!
First, the naked photo - NOT US, no way! there was a lot of phallic artwork on display, this poster is the artist and his wife and is actually G-rated compared to some of it. the venue is definitely not for the faint of heart :)
Second, the shoes are the "Piazza brooch pump" style which I found on YOOX - I believe they are circa last winter as I got a great "deal!"
Third, bridesmaids dresses - Melissa Sweet.
THANKS TO ARTISAN EVENTS (PHOTO) & APRIL JOY EVENTS (FLORIST)!
LOVE LOVE LOVE the dress!!!
The dress is GORGEOUS!!! Wedding ist beautiful - but the naked photo I think is a little out of place there (right next to the desserts?? - weird!!) But all that matters is that the couple liked it because it was their big day! Congratulations!!!
The branchy installation hanging from they ceiling with the candles is incredible!! Was that already in the space or created specifically for this gorgeous wedding?
Gorgeous wedding...I am curious where the bride got those candle holders that she bundled for the centerpiece. Any ideas??
Wonderful photographs of a beautiful wedding. Everything looked amazing. I especially love the centerpieces.
I'm sorry, but I gotta do it.
The naked photo above the dessert table is classic! Love it!
And by the way everything else is also absolutely fantastic! I love the incorporation of art and you guys look so happy in love! Beautiful!
This was definately a beautiful wedding!!!! Having gone to art school in DC (and met my current fiance there!) I LOVE the idea of having a wedding in a museum surrounded by art. I think it's hilarious that the naked photo is by the cakes, it shows they have a sense of humor. Life is too short to take yourself so seriously!
Also, can I ask where the candle holders centerpieces are from? They are just what I'm looking for if I don't do flowers- thanks!
Sarah we are absolutely THRILLED to see you on our favorite blog! We couldn't be happier for you and of course (although we are biased) your dress turned out uber FABULOUS!! Much love from all your girls here at White CHICAGO Bridal!!
Sarah- it was an absolute dream to create the "vintage romance with an edge" look you desired for your wedding. The images are wonderful and you look stunning!
Thanks to all of you who commented on the floral pieces and decor!
April
The wedding looked amazing! I NEED to know where to get those candle holder centerpieces, I love them!!!
A truly artistic wedding, edgy and confident, fille dwith personal style. Love the couple in the buff. A fine example of having a wedding no one will soon forget.
The new show by Cirque Du Soleil is being awaited by people in Chicago? Any info about the show?
I am so excited Cirque is coming to Chicago. I did some research and found this great link for discounted tickets. Here you go: http://www.dailyshpeel.com/tickets
Thanks for the link Roger! Going to get tickets using it :)
