Thank you so very much to the fabulous Jeremy Harwell for sending us today’s first bit of inspiration. It has been a total treat and will definitely go down in our favorite SMP features!

And to the genius that is Joy Thigpen…I hope that I get to work with you one day! I am forever floored by your styling adventures!

And by the way…I really think that SMP brides need to bring back the going-away outfit. There is something so undeniably chic about changing into your travel clothes, jetting off to some fabulous honeymoon. Love, love, love.

That's goregous! Soft, stylish, romantic and intimate - everything a wedding should be! Great photo shoot.
abby, thanks so much! you're so sweet. one day.....we'll have to do something together!
I will do my best to find a dress like that to change into at my wedding--even though we're not leaving for the honeymoon right away.
Wow! I love everything about this shoot! Anyone know where I can find that dress? It's fabulous!!!
Wow, everything is so dreamy!
This is beautiful, and I like the inspiration. At the same time I have to say that I prefer real wedding features....and also that I feel this kind of marketing of weddings puts too much emphasis on the visual and commercial aspects of the day. I didn't read the text at first and I thought the people looked really posed and not in love -- then I realized that they are in fact models, playing out a strange artificial love story! Maybe it's because I'm getting closer to my wedding day, but I find that although I liked this blog at the beginning of my planning it is starting to feel really commercial and not at all close to the point of what I'm planning. If there's no heart & reality & emotion behind making things pretty, pretty just turns into one of the more superficial aspects of the event. Features like this, plus the advertising and self-promotion on this blog, make the whole "industry" and marketing part of weddings seem like a real turn-off.
I am also interested in where that dress came from!!! Its to die for!!!!!
i so agree...the last several weddings i went to the bride changed into such adorable suits or dresses and there was just something so wonderful about the idea of them jetting off for their new life right at that moment!
Abby, I totally agree with bringing back the going-away outfit. Super cute and reminiscent of the good-ole days! Joy this is awesome. Did Amy Osaba do the flowers? Ella, good remarks. As a publisher myself we always want to bring brides the info they want and need. Sometimes us industry pros just like to get creative outside of real weddings and be uber expressive!
i agree, going away outfits should come back. then again i think people should dress to travel, etc. unfortunately people are too lazy today and the thought of dressing up just to be out in public is somehow too much work. (end rant.)
but anyway, LOVE that last dress! i'm with everyone else, who makes that??
i LOVE my going away dress but would use that peach one for a myriad of other events too!
How cute. This shoot would be a perfect 1940 engagement e-session.
Adorable!
I love it!
It's really wonderfully romantic. :)
I think mixing a fashion shoot in with the real weddings is fabulous. I agree that the going-away outfit should make a comeback! I wish I had this kind of inspiration when planning my own wedding.
I, too, love that last dress and would like to know who makes it
Love the dress... SO MUCH! I'm in must-buy mode! Who makes it?
LOVE the going-away outfits, amazing!!! And in particular, the hats, how fabulous.
Yes, I would love to find out who designed both short dresses in this post.
I very much enjoyed all of the photographs posted today.
Thank you so much Abby. this was such a treat to wake up to this morning. I am thrilled to be on the site. Joy- you rocked it girl!!
Abby, are you trying to torture us or what? please give us the names of all these lovely dresses!
Ladies,
Thank you for all the very kind comments!
I believe the dresses were vintage. Sorry gals!
the styling is absolutely GORGEOUS. i am so incredibly bummed to find out that i will never be able to find that dress. It is to die for!
I would have to agree with some of the other comments. The softness in these images gives a very romantic feel. I wish photographers were not so afrid of the dark. Some of these same images in a low light atmosphere would really push the mood over the top. Nice post
I am so sad to learn the dresses can't be found somewhere. How about the hats? Any chance for purchase?
you may want to check out shabbyapple.com for dresses similar to the light pink one. they have a wine red version in a similar cut, as well as a bright blue one. they are not as fancy, but have a very similar silhouette. and i WISH that first white dress was available for purchase...absolutely perfect.
The hat in this set of pictures was a vintage hat, the other hat is Patricia Underwood for Ralph Lauren Collection.
oh! so sorry ladies! yes,i found both of the dresses and the peach hat at vintage shops. you'll just have to keep your eye out for your own vintage find. if you're ever in atlanta, both dresses were found at the clothing warehouse and the hat was from stephan's...both in little five points. or you can look around on ebay or etsy for something similar.
i'm glad you liked them though! :)
I agree! We celebrated my grandparent's 60th wedding anniversary this summer and my grandmother wore her going away outfit! She was so excited that all of her granddaughters took such an interest in it! So cute!
the photos are beautiful,,,flowers, dresses, hat, setting...all so pretty!!
