Colorful, DIY Eco-Chic Wedding, II
It’s hard to find the words to properly introduce this adorable weddings. It’s right off the pages of a glossy, with details that are utterly charming, utterly delicious. Photographed by the wonderful team known as The Nichols, this wedding is one that will definitely be a new favorite!
But the best part about this wedding is the personality that they infused into every detail. The little touches that guests will always remember, that they will tell their friends about, that will always make them smile.
From the bride…
My dress was made out of handmade crotched lace by a designer here in LA by Magda Berliner. I made a flag banner from scraps of fabric from Anna Maria Horner and hung them from the trees. I had my 86 yr old grandmother as part of the ceremony and get up and say words of wisdom to all the guests.
My pink shoes with my dress were from Payless, but I changed into boots for the reception. All the bridesmaids wore boots and dresses they already owned in colors I asked them to wear. It saved money from them having to buy dresses they would never wear again and they ended up looking really cool. All flowers were made by friends were done in a wildflower fashion, by having my friend do all the flowers we saved TONS of money.

words can't describe this wedding. not my style at all - BUT i would have seriously drool over these details if i was a guest! everyone looks so full of joy too - the decorations just seem to go with all these happy guest and bridal party! can't wait to see more...

Ooh Oh! Where did they find the quilts? I'm having a picnic wedding and can't find inexpensive quilts for lounging! Such a great celebration!!

Thank you so much! The quilts came from my grandmother, great-grandmother, aunts and various family friends. I knew our family had quite a few so I really wanted them to add to the family feel of the ceremony.
where did you get the chalkboards and where did you order the stickers from?
Chalkboards came from a yard sale, but my dad made a huge one for the seating chart. He took plywood and then painted it with chalkboard paint - very easy to do.
The stickers for the pecans came from Papersource, but i think you may be talking about the bags for the cookies. I bought white paper bags from Michaels and then ran them through the printer at my office with a template I did on MS Word. Very easy and looks cool.
The Nichols totally ROCK!!! If you live in Austin or even within 1,000 miles---they should be your photog go to couple!
This is where I'm getting married in June! After seeing this wedding, I'm getting more anxious by the second!!!

amy- your wedding is absolutely the most perfect ive ever seen. question- the lanterns in the trees- did you use battery packs? i cant see any cords, but im wondering- we want to do this- do you need a lift to turn them on just before the wedding?

Very beautiful wedding. I love the fact the bridemaids were allowed to wear their own dress and boots!
Jamie - Thank you! We actually didn't put lights in the lanterns due to the fact the reception would be indoors during the night. However, we did explore using glow sticks as well as little LED lights to thrown in if we needed to. Both you have to do right before you may need them and they last for several hours.
