Beach Wedding Inspiration From Rhode Island

Krystal and Paul at Studio Foto sent us the photos from their friends’, Christine and Zack’s wedding. Krystal and Paul attended as guests! But when it comes to true-blue photographers, it’s rare for them to leave the cameras behind.  The wedding was at Weekapaug Beach in Westerly, Rhode Island and as you’ll see, it embraced all that is beautiful about the beach …

It’s pretty obvious that lots of love went into planning the wedding details of Christine & Zack’s big day.  It’s also equally obvious that the overall picture they wanted to achieve was a huge success!

from Christine … When planning our wedding we were both on the same page about one thing. We wanted to get married on the beach! Our toes in the sand and ocean waves rolling. This was our goal when looking at venues because anyone who knows me well, knows that I am beachy….and it just so happens that I found a guy that loves the beach as much as I do. Just as important to us was creating a wedding ambiance that was not too formal.  We wanted a gathering of our closest friends and family to feel the relaxed atmosphere of the beach that brings us there to enjoy summer after summer.

First on our list was getting married in Rhode Island. We vacation there a lot together and love to have our friends and family come visit us while there. After many searches and phone calls to different places, to the delight of everyone we finally found our little beach spot for the ceremony as well as a great reception location! After a year of careful and crafty planning ~ with the help of many ~ the day finally arrived. It turned out to be a beautiful and dramatic setting for our celebration. The waves were bigger than we had ever seen on a Rhode Island beach due to the grey skies and windy weather that blew in ten minutes before the ceremony began. The water was a stunning turquoise blue that mimicked Caribbean waters. This amazing backdrop created really great photos and memories!

The day we got married was everything that we could have hoped for. Our relaxed beach wedding was just as we had imagined. Looking back we agreed that we wouldn’t change a thing – even the little things that didn’t turn out as planned were no big deal. It was our friends and family that helped us to make our vision happen- from the first day of planning to 10 o’clock the morning after the wedding.

We were working on a small budget and did our best to create a day that was unique to us. We were so happy that we worked so hard to get married on the beach, and our determination really set the tone for our lives together. Our wedding day was a time for our guests to celebrate this moment with us in a setting that spoke to us as a couple and combined all of the things that we truly love and enjoy.

to answer a couple of questions: This dress is for sale. You can email me at bebeachy@gmail.com for more info. Otherwise, you can find it at Davids Bridal.
The garter was actually handed down, or borrowed, from two generations of grandmothers! I love it too :)

I loved the pictures of the entire day! You both look so in love! My daughter is planning a beach wedding next year and having difficulty finding a venue. We live in Westerly but my daughter lives in Kingston. I am curious as to where the reception was held? Was the ceremony done right in Weekapaug?

  22. christine says:

The reception was held on the patio of The Andrea Hotel right in Misquamicut! Contact Michelle there- super helpful and great to work with! The ceremony was held at a private beach (Shelter Harbor Beach at Weekapaug) In order to get married there, you must contact the Weekapaug Fire District. Hope this helps!

  23. Amanda O'Neill says:

I love the flower you wore in your hair; where did you get it, or is it real? Thanks!

  24. Michele says:

Beautiful wedding!!!! This is very sijmlar to what I would like for mine. I am actually from Southeastern MA and am very interested in your location. I know you said you did the reception at the Andrew Hotel however what about the cermony site?????

  25. eddye says:

The ceremony was at Shelter Harbor Beach at Weekapaug. Christine said that in order to get married there, you must contact the Weekapaug Fire District.

  26. Christine says:

    Amanda!

I actually got the flower from the first dress that i had bought- it was attached at the waist- and since i wasnt wearing that dress- i removed it and we used pins to hold it in my hair. Hope this helps!

    my best,
    Christine

  27. D says:

    Hi!

To answer a few questions for you guys! :)

I had Rosannas Flowers in Westerly Rhode Island do our flowers! See was so great! My bridesmaids and I made the wraps of beads to go around the stems!

I let the girls all choose their own dresses...j,cew, victorias secret, target...to name a few...

    Hope this helps!

    Christine

  32. I just realized that I recently bought the same exact dress for my beach wedding! It's so awesome to see how to it will look on the beach. Gorgeous!

  33. Julie says:

I just got engaged, I'm from RI, and this is the exact venue I'm looking for. Somewhere to get married right on the beach and a place for a nice low key reception. Can you pelase tell me how to go about getting married on Weepaug Beach? And where was the reception?

    Thanks!!

  34. Erin says:

I just saw your post about getting married on the beach and this is my dream! I have no idea where to start. We live right on the Tiverton, RI border so I am not sure how far this beach is. How many people did you have at the wedding? Our guest list is about 175 which I know is alot for a beach. How did you go about doing all of this? Could you email me at siebrands@juno.com? Look forward to hearing from you! Erin

  35. samantha southwick says:

Hi, I was wondering how i would go about having a wedding ceremony at this beach, where do i start, who do i call, the pics are awsome and it looks perfect. Thank You in advance for your help.
    Samantha

  36. Eddye says:

I think that your questions may have been answered in the comments (above).

  37. Joann says:

    Hello,

I am currently planning my beachside ceremony in the same general area of RI. Your ceremony was soooo beautiful!!! I have to ask, my sister brought up the idea to me of renting benches too, but I haven't been able to find a local vendor. Would you mind letting me know who you rented your beach benches from?

    Thanks so much, and CONGRATS!!!

  38. Joann says:

We are actually planning our wedding almost to the day (your anniversary) of your wedding and had contacted the same beach you held your ceremony at (looking for the perfect beach site to hold our ceremony - yours was beautiful). We were denied for the date of June 5th - due to "date" (which I can accept) and "residence". Hmmm.... Stumbled as it seems you vacation there a lot, but don't live there. We opted to try for a sunset ceremony the day before June 4th and still hold our reception the following afternoon June 5th. We were denied the privilege of holding our ceremony there that evening as "The Shelter Harbor Beach is not available for private functions during beach season. No exceptions will be approved. Regards, Rhea Palczynski, Beach Committee Chair." I just wondered who exactly you spoke to to get this approved??? I think I have given up on this site, it's a shame, it looks beautiful. I'm also saddened that they wouldn't welcome people on such a momentous day of their life, not to mention the fact that we will be, as will all of our guests, utilizing local services and bringing business to their local economy. My first impression of the area, and why we planned our wedding reception (and hopefully our ceremony) there, was really because of all of the local hospitality that was afforded to us when we went to visit. I’m sad now…

  39. Catherine says:

I was wondering what you used for seating for guests on the beach? And if you rented them, from where?

    Thanks! Love these images!

  40. Christine says:

We rented the benches from :

    Liberty Rentals
Address: 1174 Kingstown Rd, Wakefield, RI (or) 271 Post Road, Westerly, RI
    South Kingstown, RI
    Phone: 1.800.482.7332

  41. Mel Morse says:

Christine, I absolutely love your wedding photos. I just got engaged a few days ago and I have always wanted a beach wedding. I have been trying to find information on the beaches in the Weekapaug area and have had little luck. I was wondering what steps you took in order to have your wedding at this beach.

    Please email me : mmorse@kcu.edu

    Thank you so much!!
    Mel

  42. Sandra says:

This is amazing, thanks! I am planning a beach wedding on Lake Michigan for next summer. I love looking at pics of beach weddings for inspiration and this one takes the cake. 43. Allie says:
