Summertime Brunch Wedding, II

July 22nd. 2009 by Abby Larson | Filed Under | 34 comments

You know how much we love details here on SMP. Not only do they make the wedding seem so much more personal, they give guests little ways to smile throughout your entire affair. And this wedding, planned by Crystal at Distinct Occasion, was all about the details. Totally approachable, doable, absolutely lovable details.

Love the creative, yummy centerpieces and am totally smitten with the crossword puzzle that was placed on each plate. Super cute way to give guests a little something to talk about while they eat!

And the buttons! SO. STINKING. CUTE. I love that the couple completely infused their personality into the day, without breaking the bank. The details don’t have to be expensive, they just have to reflect who you are! I mean, take the butterfly cake for example…total adorableness!

Very pretty! Might be a stretch to call a cake design that's been on the cover of Martha Stewart Weddings representative but the wedding buttons were very distinctive.

  4. It may have been on Martha but was recreated lovingly by a friend of the Bride's. She did a great job!

  5. Heather says:

I love those birds - where are they from? So cute!

Did the guests try to complete the crossword at their seats? Fun idea!

    Hi all!

I'm so glad that you all enjoy seeing our wedding - I'm so excited that Style Me Pretty has us up here!

    To answer some sourcing questions:
@ Heather: The birdies are custom made from RedLightStudio on etsy. The personalized crossword puzzle went over well too- it helped a lot of the tables bond over who knew the answers.

@ dressfit: Yes, the cake is heavily "inspired" from the Martha Stewart Weddings Winter 2009 cover,
but I loved it so much, and my amazing baker friend volunteered to make it for me as a gift. It was red velvet flavor with cream cheese frosting inside, and was paired with matching cupcakes with little butteflies as toppers.

@Caroline: My dress is/was the Drew from the Vineyard Collection from Priscilla of Boston. I loved it and it felt so right for brunch!

@JenD: I bought the macarons from Bobbette & Belle - www.bobbetteandbelle.com - we ordered so many and there were pretty much none left at the end, since people were snacking on them throughout and then took them home in the little doggy bags. They were amazing!

  12. B - b - b- beautiful! The buttons! The birdies! The butterfly toppers! The bridal gown.

It is the cutest shop ever, and the macaroons are TO DIE FOR! As well are all of their other desserts and goodies that they offer!

Hi Joanne, i think if you go back to Martha's winter season magazine they tell you where to get it from. you can also look it up the vendor of the butterflies on her website online.

  28. Debbie says:

The wedding is amazing!! I'm also wondering where you got the buttons from? Samantha you are so freaking cute!!!

  29. jill says:

I got these exact same buttons for my wedding in August from an etsy seller! In fact, she had never made them before and I asked if she would after seeing some of her other work! She must be selling them from her shop now! So great!

  30. frannie - the baker says:

Joane, the butterflies can be ordered online from a vendor on Etxy called Clear Cut Crafts.

The wedding was super fun and very classy. Love both the bride and the groom.

  31. Mary says:

    The cake was beautifully done.

  32. Jackie says:
