Summer Wedding Dresses

July 13th. 2009 by Abby Larson | Filed Under | 10 comments

Couple of things…first, you’ll notice that we pulled down the Jose Villa wedding that we were featuring earlier. Jose is working on getting us some better images (as well as a few more that you haven’t seen yet), so we’ll have that up very soon. Second, don’t forget the enter the Summer Inspired Crate and Barrel Giveaway…we are giving away a Panini Grill!

And speaking of Summer, I was just poking around Brides.com and found this really cute feature on Summer wedding dresses. What blew me away though was the detailing on the gowns. Each one is better than the next! It’s a FABULOUS trend and one that will hopefully stick around a while!

I am in love! There is something so effortlessly chic about using fabric to give the gowns texture. Where beading is all about the glam, this look is much subtler, much more Audrey Hepburn. And although they are perfect for a Summer soiree…each dress would look fabulous in just about any setting!

What do YOU think…do you love the fabric detailing as much as I do?

I noticed awhile back that the JCrew dress on the middle row never actually "came out" for sale. All the others from that 2009 collection already have. I was hoping for this dress for my wedding....love the detailing!

Jcrew is having a sample sale this week in NYC and they have many dresses marked down to around $300! and TONS of bridesmaids, shoes and flower girl dresses. I was there this morning.

Wow! These are absolutely gorgeous! I love all of them! They're all breath taking!

It's so nice to see dresses with sleeves. I took a friend of mine shopping for a wedding dress the other day, and it seemed like alllllllllll the dresses were strapless. These are beautiful (even the strapless ones, but after spending 3 days looking for ones with sleeves I'm a little biased!).

I'm calling these fabulous details "First Lady frills" inspired by Michelle Obama's Inaugural Ball gown. I seem to be buying every T shirt, blouse and dress in site that has these fabric details- even shoes and a hairpiece for my own wedding this August! LOVELY!!!

I agree with Lilamoe's comment about it's nice to see sleeves on some of the gowns. The strapless wedding gown has had more than it's far share of it's "15 minutes of fame." I'm all for putting some new styles in the mix.

  7. Thanks so much for mentioning our summer dress feature from Brides.com. We loved picking the dresses. I thought this season was so much about the details rather than a big bold statement dress.
One of my favorite details from the dress photos above is the thin ruffled back straps on the Reverie dress--top row, third photo. So lovely & light!

Yikes. They are not flattering on the chests. :(
