Traditional Affair in Tulsa, II

July 9th. 2009 by Abby Larson | Filed Under | 10 comments

Let me tell you a little bit about this couple. They had actually been married a full year before they decided to exchange vows publicly at their home in Tulsa with their closest friends and family. I know, if I had that home, I’d host a pretty killer wedding too. But here’s the special part…they obviously have a huge wedding budget. So much so that they decided to forgo all the bells and whistles and instead use their wedding funds to build a water well in an African community. Yep, not only are they gorgeous, they are also really good people.

I love that they brought the indoors out…using beautiful rugs and antique furniture to create a warm and cozy outdoor environment. It’s so pretty, it actually makes me cry a little bit.

More in a bit from the FABULOUS Duston Todd!

This is exactly the kind of dress I've been looking for! Anyone know the designer? This is a stunning wedding, can't wait to see more!

I love that the couple decided to donate so generously to a community in Africa. My husband and I decided to create a non-profit and asked that our guests make donation to the organization or another worthy organization rather than purchase us gifts. We decided that we didn't need to register for more "things" when we could bless the lives of others as we have been so blessed. This couple is beautiful and it's so refreshing when you hear that they are also beautiful people inside. Abbey, thank you for sharing this with us.

This is truly a beautiful couple. And I also love the dress. I did find a good, funny article listing seven things we should all think about before we jump onto the marriage ship. It's a nice read: http://thestimulist.com/lessons-learned-between-to-do-and-i-do/

Great idea! Definitely something I've seen a lot in the local Denver wedding market. Brides are opting out of favors on tables and in turn printing simple place cards with phrasing similar to "in lieu of a favor, we have made a donation to (insert charity of choice) in your name". Love it!

  7. Beautiful day! Fun shots and love the romantic setting...
