I am a sucker for a perfect, cocktail style short wedding dress. Probably because I am not sure I could ever take the plunge myself (though have such jealously for those who do!), but also because there is so much room for such fabulous style when you shorten the hemline.
So, when the wonderfully talented Alice Hu sent me photos from a recent shoot that she did for Dolly Couture, I swooned a little bit…

Adorable, aren’t they? And the leapard pumps…well, perfection. Here are a few details from Alice…
This shoot was shot at the amazing Pacific Edge Villa in Laguna Beach. Both of these dresses are brand new styles from Dolly Couture. Dolly Couture specializes in 50′s inspired vintage gowns that are fully customizable. The cute vintage inspired leopard print pumps are from Ellie Shoes. They match with the style and feel of the dress perfectly. The birdcage veil is made from vintage lace, flowers, and veil.

SO cute. Hair and make-up was done by Lisa Pilgrim + Kacee Geoffroy, the hair accessory is by Be Something New and the bouquet is by Fantasy Floral Design. Thank you to Alice Hu for providing us with such great inspiration!

I decided a few months ago to have Dolly do my gown. She does a fantastic job, and I love the idea of looking back on vintage styles for inspiration.
Love these!
I have to admit this dress is amazing - I love the vintage style. I was married 14 years ago and at the time, being only 20, I did not have the true appreciation and love for vintage style that I have today. The older I get the more I enjoy history and ideas from the past. Super fun post!
Abby-- I know what you mean about taking the plunge! I'm wearing a tea-length dress against my mothers wishes, she feels it won't be "bridal enough". Maybe these gorgeous pictures will inspire her to think otherwise.
I'm very excited with my decision! Thanks for this cute post!
Dolly Couture is fabulous!! I have her as a friend on myspace and was going to go with her for my gown. I was just a little hesitant to order online, since she wasn't local. Absolutely fabulous!!!
amazing dress. she looks striking.
That dress makes me want a short one for myself!! soo cute!
I was a Dolly Couture bride! I loved my tea length lace covered "Edmonton" dress. Although now I was to get remarried in that first Dolly dress. Fabulous!
These are gorgeous! I wish I had known about this shop before I bought my own tea-length dress!
They are beautiful dresses. My sister-in-law wore a fully sequinned mini-dress for her wedding and she looked fabulous! Depending on what kind of character she has, only the bride can know what she will be wearing.
Oh... Cute!
I'm digging the short dress + animal print shoe combo! Way to bring some edge to such a sweet frock.
SO fun!!!
I LOVE! I wish i had picked a short fun dres!
I LOVE THESE DRESSES!!! BUT EVEN MORE I LOOOOOOVVVVVE THE PHOTOG!!! she is amazing!! that's it AMAZING!!
I am a Dolly bride ... in fact my custom gown inspired the top gown ... Beverlywood!
Don't worry about ordering if you're not local - I ordered online from Dolly, and I'm in the UK. It was so easy, just make sure you take exact measurements and have a local tailor handy for any last minute adjustments (although depending on the style of dress you might not even need any adjustments!). Less than a month until I get to wear my gorgeous custom dress, and I can't wait! :-D
Went on the web site and did not see the gown on the bottom ( with the crumb catcher) any idea the name of the gown? If anyone was ordered from Dolly am I understanding correctly that she does custum gowns? That are not shown on the web site?
Thanks
Sherri
I think I might be breaking protocol by posting, but wanted to thank everyone so much for your kind reviews! The dress with the crumb catcher is a hybrid of the Manhattan gown, presently referred to as "Manhattan with ruffle". These gowns have debuted a little faster than we expected, ha ha. This one will be offered at just $495. Friend me, Dolly Thicke on facebook to see hundreds of Dolly Couture bride photos for other custom ideas. Many more to come photographed by the magnificent Alice Hu!
The leopard print shoes teamed with the dress- just perfection.

How is it that EVERYTHING you post is so amazing??? Eeeek!
I want to wear the first dress pictured on my 10th wedding anniversary party next March!!! Swoon. It is perfect for me! I hope the price fits, too.
Hi Abby -
I will be wearing a short wedding dress in 2 weeks!! Ahhhhh! I will have to send pics so you can post them. I know for some it might be hard to take the plunge...but if that's who you are - then that's what you have to do! I tried on a bunch of long dresses and showed friends and family and everyone said the same thing - it just wasn't me :)
I'm pretty sure that top gown is my dream dress. I've been thinking about going with Dolly for a while; I may have to bite the bullet now.
Amazing job! The photography is excellent
great website, It's fun to see my vintage hat in the pictures! I think Alice did such an amaizing job with the photos

LOVE the dresses!! and the pictures are AAMMMAZZZZINNGGGG!
Good job, i am seeing here different commands also thanks for sharing. I used google translator – can you enlighten me please?
Tea length dresses are so elegant. I came very close to getting one for my wedding when I saw the one that January Jones was wearing in Mad Men - I think it was in Season 2, Episode 2 (or 1?) when Don takes Betty to the Savoy for Valentine's Day. She comes down the sweeping staircase in a coffee coloured lace concoction. Pure Grace Kelly. Definitely worth having a look at the episode if you are looking for a style to copy!!
I just received my custom Dolly Couture (full length) dress last week! It's gorgeous! I fell in love with the "Beverlywood" Top but preferred the long skirt! I am thrilled with my decision! Dolly was a pleasure to work with!
hi, was so aprehensive about ordering my wedding dress on line, thanks for putting my mind at ease. all i have to do now is get my measurements taken and i'm ready! there is nowhere in ireland making or importing dresses like these and yes they are fab!
I was a Dolly Couture bride (I customized the dress featured here, The Beverlywood) and I can't rave enough about my experience. The dress was stunning - the fabric, the craftsmanship, and the style were simply flawless. Dolly and Nickie provide excellent customer service and it is clear that they really care about their brides. I felt elegant, offbeat, and beautiful: I highly recommend working with Dolly Couture!
