40’s Inspired Wedding by Jeremy Harwell

July 2nd. 2009 by Abby Larson | Filed Under | 17 comments

I took one look at this lovely wedding and knew that it was an SMP feature. There is something so sweet, so precious about the 40’s inspired affair. Jeremy Harwell, the photographer behind the day, did a spectacular job at telling the beautiful story of the day.

The location itself, Dunaway Gardens, is unbelievably special…it was originally established by a film actress and her husband and served as a training ground for producers, directors and performers of the arts during the 20’s, 30’s and 40’s. Walt Disney was even a frequent guest! So, this lovely couple, found their inspiration in the venue’s roots and designed a wedding that seemed at home in the perfect space.

Hey, that's my wedding dress!! I was afraid that it might be too much for an outdoor wedding but these pictures look lovely. I'm glad I chose outdoors!

Also, the dress is from casablanca bridal, but don't pick it ;)

I am so honored to be on this blog! I followed it during our wedding planning! Thank you for all the lovely comments! Jeremy truly captured the 40's feel of our wedding. This is my favorite time period. So romantic! Yes, my dress was Casablanca. Their dresses are very reasonably priced. My husband actually bought my ring from a lady in Atlanta. I love the vintage look! The ring was built in the 1940's in Charleston at a place called Mosley's. After my husband bought the setting and diamond from the lady in Atlanta (whose late step-mother wore the ring), he took it back to Mosley's where the grandson of the man who originally built the ring, re-set it! I am so glad to know the history of the ring.

  12. These pictures are beautiful! Ashley, you looked great! Different from the shorts and t-shirt on Mainstreet Newnan! LOL! Seriously, I am sure the wedding was awesome!

What's the story behind the M&M's?? That's too cute! Also, the necklace you are wearing....was it a gift from your husband...or a heirloom?

  14. Shawn says:

Ashley, could you tell me what style dress your dress is from?? Did you go on the Casablanca website? If so, where did you go on the website to find it?

You looked stunning and i love the photos! Best Wishes for you and your husband....

    Ashley,

These pictures are gorgeous! I have been so anxious to see my wedding photos and thanks to you I got a glimpse of what they will be. I also got married at Dunaway Gardens in June and had Jennifer at Virtu arrange our flowers. The gardens were beautiful and Jennifer is so talented, her flowers blew me away. But not only did we have the same venue and florist, we also wore the exact same dress! It looks amazing in all the pictures. You must have excellent taste!!! Thanks for sharing these pictures and best wishes to you and your husband.

Lindsey, How funny is this! I would love to see your pictures!

The dress is on Casablanca's website under Spring (maybe Fall) 2008. You have to click on one of the style numbers that does not have a picture with it.
