Sweet, Sophisticated Wedding in Maryland, III

June 26th. 2009 by Abby Larson | Filed Under | 22 comments

Love, love, love all of the girly details that this bride infused into her day. Her color palette of Tiffany Blue and White is so crisp…sophisticated with a hint of prep. Super cute.

From Laya, the lovely bride…

I made one of a kind clutches for my bridesmaids – each one was different using various fabrics for the lining, as well as the details in the pleats, etc. I also made the hairclips worn by the flower girls.

Etsy was my main source for stationary and other decorations. My wedding invitations were designed and printed by Jennifer from Pink Lily Press. I also worked with Ashley Bowen, the designer/owner of 2BirdStone to create digital designs for map/direction inserts, table numbers, thank you cards and favor inserts/tags, inspired by my invitations – this gave me the opportunity to shop around for a printing company in my neighborhood to save money. The ring pillow was created by Rainsend, the Cake Topper by DK Designs, and my hairpiece was custom designed by LoBoheme. I had our photo guestbook custom designed by Amanda from Paperlust, and instead of seating cards, we had Giselle from GE Designs create a seating chart that matched our stationary. The chairback decorations were created by Maria from St Jude’s Creations using crepe paper.

Our wedding was everything I’d hoped for and more. Despite the weather channel’s predictions for rain, there was not a single dro pof rain all day and the sky was as clear as it could have been. The day really was filled with all the vintage charm the town of Havre de Grace could offer, with love and laughter, a whole lot of dancing, great music and amazing food!!!

Love this color scheme and the whole theme of this wedding - kudos to the bride, it's all lovely! Also, thanks for the link to 2BirdStone - love the idea of having them design everything for you, and then printing locally :)

Oh - I also LOVE the paper napkins with the 2 cute birds! Adorable! can i ask where they are from?

  6. Laya Evans says:

the napkins are from the Knot shop. I got them on sale for $19/100 napkins. I actually also had 2 other designs - wedding cake and a guitar(b/c my husband plays the guitar) - in different colors. As for the bridesmaid clutches, it's actually my own pattern that I use for my Etsy store, Frank and Zoey. My store is reopening after the 4th of July weekend and I've made clutches for other brides before if you are interested!

I just wanted to say I love the cake, and I just did a very similar one for our May 16th wedding!! My initial inspiration, as I am thinking yours may have been too, was a cake featured on Martha Stewart? I know how incredible that cake was an how creative you needed to be to make it happen for your own and I think your result was absolutely wonderful!! Bravo!!

  20. Laya Evans says:

My cake was indeed inspired by Martha Stewart wedding! In case anyone was curious, my cake was done by Desserts by Rita in Havre de Grace. Not only was it prety to look at, the cake was so delicious, there literally was not a slice left (except for the top layer and the 2 slices our wedding coordinator left for us as a late night snack) after the reception.
