Vintage Styled Wedding At Richmond’s Safari Texas Ranch

June 22nd. 2009 by Eddye | Filed Under | 25 comments

Laura Burlton with D. Jones Photography in Houston sent us two really fabulous weddings that she shot, and it was such a toss-up which one to start with! Their styles are so different. Their locations are so different. But they both stand testament to the fact that with love ~ laughter ~ friends & family ~ and a great photographer, your wedding day will be nothing short of fantastic!

Katie & Blake’s wedding was held at the Safari Texas Ranch in Sugar Land, Texas. The facility has many different venues to choose from and they chose the rustic simplicity of the lodge there. It had a great big veranda out back that they held the ceremony on and then the reception was inside the lodge afterwards. The grounds of the Safari Ranch have some livestock and exotic animals on site. There were goats and deer and I have heard there is a giraffe, although we did not see it. The most visible were the peacocks running free along the grounds. They provided much comic relief during the ceremony with their mating calls!

Katie’s invitations and wedding paper pieces were designed by her very talented sister, Courtney Albright.

{ps… if you look on the map, the actual venue looks like it’s in Sugar Land, but the physical address is Richmond. Sorry about that!}

I bought the Kate Spade shoes in hot pink (style: Clarice) from Zappos.com -- wearing them for my July 17th wedding... Cannot wait!!! Very comfortable and absolutely beautiful online and in person!

  12. Rita says:

    What a beautiful wedding!

We're getting married next Spring and our colors are green and orange too, so I'm getting lots of good ideas.

Jennifer--I'm trying to find a reliable dyer for shoes. Can you recommend who you used?

  13. Katie says:

    Hi there!

The black-green argyle socks came from http://www.golfknickers.com/cotblenarsoc.html , and I actually found the Milly dresses online, ON SALE, at Neiman Marcus :) It took some searching but found them at a very marked down price and bought up 10 sizes, to return those I didn't need.

The shoes were definitely Kate Spade found in a dyable white satin at myglassslipper.com. I found my green swatch at Home Depot and took them to the Houston Shoe Hospital :) It was a painless process, great dye job, AND they were comfortable :D

We were......SO...... excited about how our pictures came out and would recommend miss Laura for ANY pictures you need to have taken. She is FANTASTIC to work with.

Courtney Albright is also one of the most creative people I know and if you or any of your friends are looking for beautifully different wedding invitations tailored to your personal style definitely hit her up!

Thanks for the super nice comments!

  14. The shoes...wow. And those bridesmaid's dresses!!! This is so charming!

    Orange place cards-great idea!
    Lovely!

  19. Katie says:

    Hello!

My birdcage veil came from Paravani Vida (out towards Katy in West Houston). They were a jerk about returns and their customer service is terrible, but the veil was about $75 cheaper than others I had found. And they had a few different varieties to choose from. (I probably should have looked a little harder.)

I love birdcage veils, but it was SHOCKING to see how much people charge for a little white fish net zip tied to a $.10 comb :)

My flower (after ceremony) hair piece came from 'Houston Bridal and Formal Gallery' downtown. They were very nice to work with and the hair piece was very nicely made. I'm glad you liked them!

Thanks again for the great comments!!

---As for the orange place cards.... These also doubled over as our guests take away gifts. It was a very cost effective "gift" that we though people might actually use (eat) :)

Where did that beautiful DRESS come from? It's stunning!

  21. Love this wedding! The shoes, programs, veil, photography. Gorgeous!

  22. Leah says:

Where did you get the glass jars filled with oranges/nectarines and limes? Love them! I am looking for something similar for my candy buffet.

  23. N says:

Can you tell me where you got your beautiful wedding dress and who is the designer?

  24. Esther says:

Hi! I love these pictures. I just got engaged and will be having our wedding at safari texas ranch also! I was wondering if you put up additional lighting (bulbs) in the reception hall? When I visited, I didn't remember seeing the bigger bulbs on the ceiling. If you put them up, can you tell me where you got them? Thanks! Esther

  25. Esther says:

Katie? I almost didn't recognize you in your pictures~! It's Esther from MHS BAND!!
