Traditional Wedding with a Twist by Nancy Liu Chin

Nancy Liu Chin and Lisa Lefkowitz are hands-down two of the Bay Area’s most talented vendors. So, when they partner up and send me a wedding that they got their hands on, I just KNOW it’s going to be good. This one, is no exception!

And although I don’t have a ton of the details, I do know this. I am completely obsessed with the chic, laid back elegance. The charm threaded into every detail. The sophisticated but totally approachable style.

I am a little bit in love with the centerpieces. Potted plants in simple white containers with little birds and table names tucked inside. By sticking with mostly greens and whites, they are completely chic and refreshing. They look expensive and yet they are totally doable for a DIY bride. Love that.

Here’s what else I love about this wedding. It’s all about the simple elegance…candles placed on top of coffee beans inside a perfect cylindrical vase. A chocolate table runner that spans the length of the table. An adorable cork board with mismatched place cards pinned to it.  A cake that is literally making me want to dive right into the picture so that I can see it for myself.

It’s the sweet, charming details that just take this one to an all new level. Oh and the FABULOUS color palette. Thank you so much to the so-so-talented Nancy Liu Chin for sending today’s affair. Make sure to check out her site and her fabulous blog for tons and tons of eye candy. And to the forever amazing Lisa Lefkowitz for capturing such stunning photographs. Love. Every. Bit of it.

i luv the whole piece its mature and comfortable the gown is well asserted in that the bride actually knows what she is doing marriage is such an important step, thus the excitement is downplayed by the simple yet elegant gown, with the low cut back just adds the icing to the cake and leaves much to the imagination what else does this function hold for us. the table setting traditional and elegant very welcoming to the sumptuous meal that is before hand i luv the cards they are exquisite and flamboyant what would a girl ask for during her greatest day other than this well presented choreographed wedding piece

I have a question - I asked my bakerie to make me a cake very similar to this one - albeit square. He threw a fit and kept saying "IT LOOKS LIKE A SUMMER PARTY CAKE" (my choice, not his) but moreover, "We cannot put that many twigs into an edible cake. You need to think of something else." Are these twigs inserted directly into the cake? Or are they wrapped in florists wire on the bottom? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you so much in advance. The wedding featured here is to die for - it is goregous

  9. Dear SMP fans...Isn't this wedding just the quintessential information traditional wedding with a bit of fun mixed in. That cake was unbelievable!!! One of my favorite and I want to address one of the questions. The sticks are small twigs that was inserted in fondant. The sticks were washed, cleaned, trimmed so it wasn't "dirty". I also purchased faux little birds which the baker inserted. I have to be honest, I cannot remember who did this cake. If I did, I would have shared it with you. And the bottom was a real wooden log. The bride purchased it and had it clean and coated. I believe that you can buy these at lumber stores. You do have to make sure it's cut even so that the cake can rest on top of it.
One of my most favorite detail was the place card board. The bride got an idea from one of Martha's old issues. And I did my own twist on it. It was super easy to do. I took foam board and adhere beautiful canvas fabric. The bride DIY her own escort cards by rubber stamping them. And she just wrote the names. One of my favorite details were those table numbers. LOVE Love Love!!! It's easy to do. She also DIY them by gluing printed cards on soft and thin balsa wood. Enjoy!
