I wanted to say a huge thank you to Simone and Wesley for sharing their day with us. Simone was so incredibly thoughtful in sharing all of her insider tips with us, inspiring us to infuse weddings with perfect and yet utterly affordable detail.
Simone writes a pretty awesome blog that basically showcases her love of all things chic called Social Page that you should definitely check out. AND if you are in need of a hugely talented wedding designer, check out Simone’s event planning company!

A last bit from Simone…
At 10pm, guests were picked up in Vintage Trolley cars and brought to Ginger Sixty-Two, a popular lounge in Vancouver. We bought out the space for the night and flew in our favorite DJ from Calgary. Guests danced all night long, I don’t think I got off the dance floor once. Guests were dancing on the table. I would recommend doing this for anyone who feels it is important that everyone dances and has fun.
The After Party cost us next to nothing (we had more hors d’oeuvres served at the lounge so we had to pay for that otherwise it would have cost us NOTHING!), usually you will have a “Buy Out.” There’s was a $1,500 minimum, so if the guests spent over that you do not have to pay anything. If not you just have to cover the difference.
charming.
would Simone be willing to give us a budget break down? how much went to the reception space, flowers, food, etc? Thanks!
oh i second katherine's comment! that would be AMAZING! i'd love to learn more about budgeting from someone who has just done it... and did it so well :O)

I was lucky enough to be Simone and Wes' photographer for the day, and I just wanted to add one more thing that really helped for her budget-- her reasonable timeline made it so that within 6 hours of photography coverage, we were able to get coverage of everything from the bride and groom preparation to the after party. A late ceremony, with just a small block of time set aside for photos (she let us operate as photojournalists for the rest of the wedding which was awesome!), followed immediately by the cocktail reception and after party. Simone was an amazing bride who knew exactly what she wanted for her wedding, and did not follow what others might have urged her to do (eg. noon ceremony, three hours of photos, reception dinner/long speeches/etc...).
