Before we get into the last of the details from today’s featured affair, I wanted to say a HUGE thank you to Robert and Kathleen for sending this to us and of course, to Dagney and Michael for letting us share in the celebration. Together with Candice Dowling of Jubilee Events, the crew is giving us a window into such a special wedding, such a romantic story…

From Robert and Kathleen…All of it looked right at home in their location, an airport hanger at Oxford Airport. The room looked perfect – almost feeling like a WWII USO function – complete with many gentleman in uniform (many of the guests were fellow servicemen), which was even more appropriate being that Saturday was Armed Forces Day.

From Robert, Kathleen and Candice…When Dagney & Michael took to the floor for their first dance, the look was complete. They they were – a classic couple in a setting so perfect it seemed like the creation of a Hollywood producer. The couple hired a classic 7 piece swing band to play music from the big band era. Their first dance was the Etta James classic, At Last, sung by their very dear friend Ana. The band provided amazing music all night long and gave a great rendition of Tuxedo Junction that had all their guests up and dancing!
A few extra details…The guestbook was a wooden propeller, handmade by local artisan. The placecards were actually boarding passes that the bride’s mother got from an airline. The table numbers featured “gate 1,” etc. All of the waitstaff wore wing pins from Continental Airlines.
OH and that amazing dress…it’s Maggie Sottero!
love the boarding passes!
My husband is a military man, and this wedding made me clutch my heart and squeal!! Oh to do it all over again. Beautiful!
The board passes are a wonderful touch! Perfect photography!
I'm pretty sure this is my favorite wedding I have ever seen on here. It's just perfect!
I love it when a theme works. Props to the happy couple and congrats!
Such a gorgeous wedding - and GORGEOUS photos by Robert & Kathleen. Not to mention the amazing job Candice of Jubilee Events! Love it!!
Fabulous wedding!! Both Candace and the Trenske's knocked it out of the park on this one :)
My partner is a commercial pilot, and his father is a Chief flying instructor, so aviation runs strong in our family, as well as myself loving aeroplanes and learning to fly. So when it came to a theme Aviation had to be it. I was so excied to see this blog because its the first aviation specific wedding theme. We too are having boarding passes for people instead of place cards.
We are having photos at our reception and ceremony venue, so couldnt get photos with the dress and the aeroplanes. But the next day we are going to head out to Bankstown airport, Sydney. And get photos with the different planes that my partner flys. I wasnt going to do the aeroplane photos, but after seeing these i cant not do them.
Looks like an absolutely beautiful wedding.

I'm a long time lurker who's never posted before but where better to start than here... I just have to say wow! I love love love all the details of this wedding - the airport hanger, the vintage plane, the cute boarding passes, the swing band and the stunning photography: all gorgeous.
I love the soft buttercream yellow garden feel set against the backdrop of these stark military planes. What an interesting and chic mix of styles.
What specific Maggie Sottero dress is this? It is exactly what I'm looking for!
this wedding is stunningly simple. yet it has that element of elegance. gorgeous!
This truly makes me swoon. It's the first wedding I've seen in I don't know how long, where the images actually took my breath away. Congrats to this beautiful couple.
Thanks for featuring one of our weddings. They were an amazing couple and it was truly one of a kind! Rob and Kathleen are two VERY talented photographers and they really captured the day perfectly.
That last photo with the reflection in the airplane... wow! I'm amazed and inspired. Thanks, SMP. And congrats to the beautiful couple.
