Ring a ding ding (did I just say that…I am seriously in need of some new words)!! Aren’t these details completely perfect! The candies are whimsical and fun, graphic and perfectly hued. And the cake, oh the cake. It’s absolutely yummy. I honestly can’t get enough of this wedding so I’ve done a few more features that are on the way in just a bit!
Here are some fun details from the bride, Ashley, who just happens to be one of the best designers I’ve seen in a long time!
Wow this is so exciting! I looked at Style Me Pretty everyday when I was planning my wedding (which I did in 4 months!) My dress and shoes are JCrew, as is the Maid of Honor’s dress (she’s my sister, Jill). The event was held at The Wickliffe House on Ashley Ave and our ceremony was performed by my father. The florist for the large arrangements and bouquets was Louise as Charleston Flower Market. My mother did all the flowers in the small vases on each of the individual tables and a few of the other arrangements, as well as the yellow “candy bar” and the anniversary time capsule. It was a 12:30 wedding on a Sunday, so we had sort of brunchy food – mimosas, a raw bar, mini blts, deviled eggs, shrimp and grits, and so forth. Jim Smeal (a little black book member) designed the incredible cake.
What did you put in the anniversary capsule??? I noticed it was a sweet note to open next year... What a great idea, I would love to know what you put inside!!!
This reminds me of Budget Savvy Bride's wedding!
where did you get all your candy from??
and jars and plastic scoops from?
Most of the candy came from candywarehouse.com, you can order candy by color there! The scoops came from Michael's (I think), and the jars were all my mother's. She has an unreal collection of things like that. The anniversary time capsule was different colored cars and envelopes representing our 1st, 5th, 10th, 25th, and 50th anniversaries. People chose a year and wrote down their predictions or wishes for our future for us to open on the corresponding anniversaries. I love that some of them won't be read for another 25 or 50 years!
I meant cards, not cars. :)
approx how much did you order and for how many guests??
i love your candy!!!
Thanks! We only had 65 guests, so we just order a few pounds of each kind. I think the best way to do it is just to choose your jars and vases and then figure about how much of each thing you'd need to fill the vessel up to the right spot. We bought little cellophane bags from Michael's, and the bird stickers were custom made by everyjotandtittle.etsy.com using a bird Allen & I drew and used on our invitations. Also, my mother just corrected me and said the scoops came from scoops-scoops.com, and a lot of the candy came from ohnuts.com.
Love this! We're having a yellow wedding and it's so fun to see how well it can turn out if done well. That cake is beautiful!
I love this wedding! I was thinking yellow and I love bird motifs so this is exciting to see how cute it can turn out.
That cake is incredible. Very nicely done with the yellow. Nice to see a wedding done by the bride and family that looks sooo expensive. Nice Job.
Everything is just perfect! We are also doing a candy bar. Does anyone know what size the candy bags are? Or the best place to buy them? We've heard so many different things about how much candy per person but that size looks perfect! Love it!
