Real Wedding: Lia and Tony

I hope that everyone had a GREAT long weekend! We are back in full effect here on SMP with tons of weddings and inspirations that are sure to get you back into the wedding planning spirit. First up, a wedding shot by the unbelievably talented John Partridge. This wedding is all about family, all about that great intimate style that the very best weddings always have…

The wedding took place in San Clemente, California at the Casa Romantica (how appropriate) Cultural Center and Gardens. And I have to say, although the bride is a complete knockout and that Jim Hjelm dress is AMAZING, it’s the perfect flowers that really got to me when I saw this affair. The combination of pinks, creams and deep burgundy is flawless….all crafted by Downtown Flowers in San Clemente. Totally romantic, totally girl.

I am mildly obsessed with the collection of family portraits…there are so many, with a hodge podge of different sized frames with little buds tucked inside. It looks almost like a last minute thought that just turned out beautifully and really added a sense of family and warmth to the evening.

So along with the perfect flowers, the stunning bride and her stunning gown, the sweet style of the reception…well, above all else, I heart these photographs. They are romantic, they are timeless, they are utterly gorgeous. Thank you so very much to John Partridge for sharing this amazing affair with us!

  1. I adore her floral arrangement. You are right; the florist did an amazing job. Plus you can never go wrong with the grace of this classic shape.

  2. Caroline says:

I love the flower pin she's wearing in her hair, any idea where she got it from?

    Thanks! Beautiful wedding!

  3. Tara says:

That's my dress! Now I'm really excited to wear it for my wedding in August.... definitely like the hair, too. Hmmm....

  4. Meghann says:

Can someone let me know what type of flower is in her hair? I am in LOVE with it and my florist can't figure out what it is!!

Hi everyone- I'm Lia and I couldn't be more proud that our wedding made this fabulous website! Looking back, my best advice for those getting married - FIND VENDORS THAT YOU ARE 150% COMFORTABLE WITH AND TRUST COMPLETELY! They did an amazing job for us and I'm so grateful.

To answer some of your questions, the hair pin that I used was a silk flower that we purchased from Michaels. We took our fabric swatches and matched it perfectly to my Blush dress. We removed it from the fake stems and glued on some leaves, affixed felt to the back and then hot-glued hair pins to the felt. My hairstylist recommended silk flowers as they hold up better than real flowers when partying down!

We are so happy about every single element of our wedding (and the preparation) and we have documented every step of the way through pictures. If you are interested in any more ideas or pictures, you can provide your email and I'll be happy to talk with you outside this website! I even have a MUCH better picture of hair if you're interested Tara!

GOOD LUCK EVERYONE! Have a great wedding day!!

We are so happy you like the photos. It was truly a memorable event for our family. All of our planning turned out better than we had hoped. Just a comment, the photos were not last minute, we worked on them over a period of 6 months. The different frames were purposeful to look more individualized and yes, they were a hit with the crowd. If it wasn't obvious, the photos were their seating assigments that were tied into tHe hanging signs for the virtues of marriage, kindness is shown. This really was a very personal touch with my family because over half of the photos were taken by the father of the bride. People were very tickled. It was a very ambitious project, but we were very happy with the results. John Partridge, Casa Romantica, Carbonara's Restaurant and Downtown Flowers made the event what it was. The attention to our attention to detail was wonderful and their artistic personalities and professionalism made our event magnificent. We appreciated all of their efforts. any other comments, we would be glad to let you know what we did. thanks

This is just so special! I was so sad to have the wedding end since it has been such an amazing planning process, but being a part of this site just keeps the momentum going! It was the most amazing wedding, and John Partridge, Krista of Downtown Flowers and Christina of Carbonara's made the day perfect with their exceptional attention to detail and love. I hope you all have as much fun as we did planning your special wedding days! Soak up all the details and love....it's a once in a lifetime process!

  8. This was such a special event. I have never had a bride take my breathe away the way Lia did when I saw her walk in the Casa with her sister and Mother. She was beautiful! It was an amazing moment! The fact that her pictures are on this incredible blog is the icing on the cake! What an honor!! Thank you Lia and tony for such an inspirational wedding!

  9. It was our honor and pleasure to cater this amazing breathtaking wedding. Lia was absolutely stunning, Tony looked very sharp (can't forget about the groom here!!) This was by far one of the best families I have ever worked with (Cindy and Mike you are the best and Sara you are an amazing sister, Lia is so blessed) From the moment we met, we knew we were a match!! Lots of planning and organizing and we had so much fun while we were doing it all!! Our team at Carbonara's felt like family members and had a blast working this wedding!! Thank you all for making our job so gratifying!!
