Color. It’s something that we talk about all the time on SMP. Determining your color palette is one of the first steps in creating a wedding that is uniquely you…a palette that compliments your venue, that defines your look, that allows you to design a wedding that reflects your own style and personality.

When I saw this purple inspired affair, I just about fell out of my chair. This wedding is a lesson in color palettes. A perfect interpretation of what we believe is so important in defining your colors…layering. Varying shades of color so that there is a depth, a dimension to your style. So that your guests don’t see blocks of color, but rather a perfectly cohesive, seamless affair where effortless elegance takes center stage.
We have the full wedding coming up next, so stay tuned!

Ohh... I can't wait to see the rest! We happen to be using plum and lavender in our wedding.
I like the layering idea. I didn't realize that I had to inform the parents what to wear until my mom asked me, and I'm trying to figure out what to do.
amen and hallelujah. I am so tired of people stressing over something being the exact shade they desire. come ON! relationships (i.e. marriages) are not about perfection and precision but about depth and coordination - why should your wedding say otherwise?
We're using plum and lilac in our Summer 2010 wedding as well. But I'm pairing them with champagne and black for a glamorous vintage, evening affair. Can't wait to see it play out!
love the concept; can't wait to see the remainder of the wedding!!
LOVE PURPLE! Can't wait to see the details!
I need help. I am planning a wedding for July 31st of this year and I have my bridesmaid dresses picked out. they are purple (not lavendar). I want pink tied into this but I'm not sure how. I'm having trouble picturing the groomsmen, flowers, etc.... Any help????????? I'm on a tight budget within a short amount of time.
Hi Stephanie,
I am hardly the one to go to for advice, but your long string of ? marks looked desperate. IMHO, you can't consider color without form? Is the style of your & your maids dresses traditional, formal, casual, modern? What about the venue for the ceremony and reception? If the style for these things is traditional and formal, I would suggest a very pale pink or pale peachy pink. If your style is more modern and/or informal, you can be bolder - try a bright fuchsia. For a cottage, country style wedding, you can fall somewhere in the middle. Think of how a field of wild flowers. I would definitely ask your floral designer's advice and when you think you know what you want, make sure the designer does a sample for you.
