I am so beyond happy to have Mimi Woo of the ridiculously great invitation studio, Mika 78 on SMP today. She is a complete genius when it comes to beautiful, fresh design work…kind of making me wish that I could get married all over again, just so that I could order one of her invitations!

For my last post, I thought it might be fun to share some of the inspiration boards behind Mika78’s most requested designs. This first board inspired the In Love design. I wanted to capture the feeling of vintage Parisian glamour, but done with a modern twist.

I also wanted to create mood with just typography and nothing more… I love how the calligraphic flourishes just dance all over the page. Calligraphy… gotta love it!

This second board helped to inspire the design The Quote. I fell in love with the touching quote from Corelli’s Mandolin; his words on love are so truthful, inspiring, and beautiful… I just had to design a wedding invitation around it!

And here is the invitation that the board inspired…

This last board inspired the Romance design. Soft, pretty, and simple. Enough said!

And the invitation that the board inspired…

I’ve had such a great time guest blogging today and hope some of my tips from my earlier post were helpful. Abby, thanks so much for having me on SMP today (I seriously think I’ll still be reading your blog when I’m old and gray!). And to all you lovely brides and grooms out there, have a blast planning your wedding!!!

Is that taxi one photoshopped? I wonder how they pulled that one off.
Lovely! Any chance you remember where the necklace in "In Love" inspiration board is from?
or that gorgeous beaded bodice dress to the left of the chloe perfume bottle?
Any idea where the Eiffel tower is from? We were engaged in Paris and I am trying to find an Eiffel tower to be used on my groom cake table.
Hi everyone! The taxi photo is by the great Tim Walker. His photos are nothing short of amazing. Check out more here: http://www.thomastreuhaft.com/Tim_Walker/tw.html
The necklace is from Saylor Sage. One of my girlfriends wore this same necklace, but in the clear crystal, for her wedding. It was beyond gorgeous with her wedding dress!
The beaded bodice dress is drool-worthy! I almost fell off my seat when I saw that photo. I'm not sure where the dress is from, but the photograph was taken by photographer Angelica Glass (http://angelicaglass.bigfolioblog.com/page/5 ) - her work is gorgeous!! The wedding was of Jennifer and Mayank (from July 28 on her blog). I love that dress, it's perfection!
The Eiffel Tower photo was taken by Jacqleen Bleu - you can find her on Etsy. The Eiffel Tower photo is here: http://www.etsy.com/view_listing.php?listing_id=24611390 Her prints are beautiful, I just ordered a bunch myself. Maybe you can email her to ask where she got it?
Oops, forgot to add the link for the Saylor Sage necklace: http://saylorsage.com/cart/product.php?pid=NK143

These are so beautiful! I love seeing the inspiration behind each of the designs! I can't imagine picking a favorite - they are all so gorgeous!

The photo of the couple on the taxi is actually by Rodney Smith, found here: http://www.rodneysmith.com/portfolio.php . Tim Walker is also an amazing photographer though!
Absolutely beautiful invitations... I can't get over my love of letterpress!
This is the most beautiful inspiration board I have ever seen! Thank you for sharing! I will be back for more!
Ooops! You're right Leandra! Got my fabulously talented photographers mixed up! Thanks for correcting that! :)
Stunning!
Mimi, could you PLEASE let me know the name of the script font featured on the romance and calligraphy invitations? It looks a bit like Lucia BT, but I can't tell and I absolutely love it!
Thanks,
Jen
