This next feature from Melissa and Jon’s wedding, will definitely make you hungry and will most certainly make you re-think all of your wedding food choices. Sorry in advance!

From Melissa…For the cake I had to have a collection of my favorite cakes from Café Madeline. They design the most beautiful cakes that all have a modern, gourmet look and they taste amazing. In the end we saved money by buying cakes retail instead of having a traditional multi-tiered wedding cake. The beauty of it is we didn’t have to sacrifice on the taste or the design.

From Melissa…Instead of a formal, seated dinner, we opted to keep the party rolling with a balanced combination of passed hors d’oeuvres and food stations. The delicious and unique food offerings were created by Melons Catering and Events. For our Fourth of July wedding, the menu had a classic American twist including bite-sized hamburgers with caramelized onions and Point Reyes blue cheese, petite grilled cheese sandwiches dipped in a fresh gazpacho shooter, and an heirloom tomato sorbet with balsamic glaze that our guests are still talking about almost a year later.

I love love love the dendrobium and hanging amarathus arrangement!-SO gorgeous
Lucky guests! Every edible item looks both beautiful and scrumptious!
everything looks gorgeous!
I like how you opted out of the formal meal and went for passed HDs an food stations. I've been thinking of doing that too, but I feel like all the caterers I speak to keep trying to discourage that, they have said it wont be enough food for people to stay there for several hours. how long did your reception last?
We have opted out of the formal dinner and will have a cocktail reception afterwards with passed HDs as well. The menu is almost the same: mini burgers, grilled cheese sandwiches, lamp chops, etc... our wedding is small, about 50-60 people, so this works for us. We just want to keep the party rolling: good drinks, food and music.
i saw that first cake shot and thought to myself, that, is a sick shot. and of course as I scroll down, it is a shot by Cliff Brunk. fantastic. Cliff's work is out of this world and if you have not spent time on his site/blog, go do so NOW. you won't regret it.
Now you made me very hungry. I wish I was a friend of the couple so I could've been invited to their wedding:)
I'm hungry too now... Love the cakes. I never tasted a multi tiered traditionnal cake but from what I've heard, that's what I would really like : lots of different cakes (I've got 2, chocolate and raspberry... and a macaroon "pièce montée" instead of the traditionnal croquembouche...)
Delicious! And I just watched an episode of Julia Child's cooking show where she demonstrated how to make a similar looking chocolate cake. Now I really can't resist baking one!
I love this! I wish you would feature the food more often, I would love more great ideas.
