In fact, we never considered our wedding a political or otherwise inflammatory affair. Instead, we viewed it quite simply as a shared celebration of love. Unfortunately the validity of our marriage is in dispute in the court system (as part of the lawsuits stemming from Proposition 8) but not in our hearts. It saddens us greatly to think that the love we felt on our special day is somehow less recognized or valued than the love of straight couples. It is, however, with great enthusiasm that we share our special day with you, and can not thank you enough for your overwhelming words and expressions of encouragement.
