Thank you so much to Kate and Sam for letting us share in their absolutely lovely celebration! And to the wonderful Sylvie Gil for sharing yet another gorgeous wedding. We are inspired to no end. Lucky for us, it hasn’t quite come to an end. Kathy Higgins, planner extraordinaire, has been sweet enough to stop by and share all of the fabulous details!
From the oh-so-talented Kathy Higgins…
Kate and Sam loved The Apple Ranch where they could put up 14 members of their family and wedding party in the cottages and houses at the ranch. Their families would be coming from the east coast to their combined wedding and ‘family reunion’. Kids were definitely welcome at this wedding. The rundown ranch had been bought by the owners from a family who had owned it since the late 1800’s and turned in to an organic farm, refurbished & keeping the vintage character with all the modern conveniences.
Guests received “burlap goodie bags’ tied with twine filled with yummy gifts and a loving welcome note from Kate & Sam. This really set the tone for a ‘ranch style’ wedding.
Kate loved the idea of using bird’s nests and apples as a theme. Her colors were espresso, ivories and apple greens. Food and wine were a high priority for Kate and Sam. Kate works for Williams Sonoma AND with living in S.F. they both love experiencing the latest in cuisine. At that time of year fresh produce was abundant and they took full advantage in their menu selection (lots of heirloom tomatoes!). Organic was the name of the game, even the filet mignon coming from Niman Ranch.
After the ceremony guests were guided to the great lawn with spectacular views of the western Napa hills. A guitarist friend played as guests were served tray passed hors d’oeuvres, sparkling wine and cocktails. Tables were set with apple green & natural colored French linens and bright sunflowers in containers.
A beautiful Napa Valley coffee table book served as their ‘guest book’. One you could leave out and enjoy any time. Lady Apples held down the table cards as the breezes blew. Off to the barn for a scrumptious 2 course sit down meal at long dining tables with glasses raised in toasts throughout dinner. Tables were covered with those lovely French linens and espresso napkins.
The florals were bird’s nests & Julep cups tucked with fresh flowers. The first dance had Sam and Kate tripping and dipping across the old barn floor with EVERYONE on the dance floor afterwards. Merriment continued throughout the night with a short stop to cut ONE of their many cakes. A grand time had by Kate, Sam and all their guests!
Fabulous, fabulous job, Kathy!! Check out Kathy’s site for even more eye candy and inspiration!
