Today’s featured Little Black Book member D. Jones Photography is located in Houston, but accepts commissions throughout Texas, Louisiana, Florida, New York, Mexico and Europe. David and Laura sent us some absolutely beautiful images from a fabulous wedding outside of White Hall, Texas.

Katherine and Ian’s countryside ceremony was in a lovely grove of trees.  After the ceremony, family and guests enjoyed lawn games, drinks, dinner and dancing late into the evening  …

Ian is in the British Navy. He and Katherine currently reside in France.

The totally beautiful flowers that highlighted the entire day were provided Little Black Book member, Melanie at The Last Petal.

Thanks so much to Laura Burlton and David Jones for sending us today’s great wedding. For all Style Me Pretty fans, I do have to set the record straight, though. Not all Texans can ride a horse. Really. And many of us have never played horseshoes either! But we do all know a lovely wedding when we see it!

  3. Chrissy says:

The table decoration is gorgeous :-)
So simple but it looks great!

  4. Holy moly. This has got to be one of the best sets of real wedding photos I've seen. First off, the dress is amazing. I love the way it looks so golden in the light in the very first pic. Secondly, I want to be invited to any wedding where I get to play croquet, throw horseshoes, hang with chickents, and slide into a pool.

  5. Ale says:

The dress is a dream! Could you please tell us who is the designer?

  6. Alex says:

What a beautiful couple and wedding! I'd love to know what venue this is and what month the wedding was in.

  7. Eddye says:

The wedding was held near White Hall, Texas, at a family friend's home. It takes a backyard wedding to all new heights! We don't have the info on her dress, yet, but we'll let you know when we do.

From Katherine, the LOVELY bride ...In fact, it's a funny story about this dress. My particular dress challenge was that I wanted a dress that would look flattering on me (i.e. slimming), but I needed a dress that would accommodate a horse underneath it! I first tried on this dress in Nice, France; it was the second dress I tried, and it was made by Pronovias. At that point, I thought, "Oh no, this is way too many ruffles for me – over the top." So I kept looking… in Nice (where I was living), in Houston (my hometown), and in Colorado (where I went to visit friends). Finally, on my last day in Colorado and just about ready to give up, I stopped in a small wedding dress shop tucked away in a strip mall in Boulder. I was running out of time; we were well within the 90 day limit for ordering.

The shop owner (the happiest, most inspiring saleslady of them all) took time to help me try on different dresses, including things I thought I would not want, including this dress. I had come to know that I really wanted a sweetheart neckline; this dress (the same style as the Pronovias, but made by San Patrick) had a lacy halter neck. So when the woman pointed it out to me, I was skeptical. For her, the neckline was not a problem: "I can alter it." Now, I was nervous. But, I tried it; and it fit me perfectly. As we tucked and pinned, admired and imagined, I started to fall in love. Two friends, who had joined me there to give their opinion, were smitten. Forty-eight dresses after I first tried it in Nice, I knew: this was the one. Without hesitation, my lovely Chinese seamstress cut the fabric around the neckline (gulp!), pinned a few tucks, and went to work. While my friend took me for an espresso down the street, she altered the dress. One more fitting an hour and a half later, and that was it. Within 10 days, the dress arrived in the mail. And it was perfect!

Then there were the boots… but that's another story!

Hope you enjoy the tale; it's fun to live it again!

What is the style name of the San Patrick dress...I've looked and I can't find it...but I LOVE it! We have a similar story...I was living in Madrid when I found my dream dress by Pronovias, now that I'm back in Texas, I can't find it. Anyway, I love your wedding!

  11. Jung says:

I've been looking for a San Patrick retailer in Texas... their web site does not work (where to buy) section. Do you mind sending me the store you bought your San Patrick dress? Thanks!

  12. April says:

I really love your dress as well. I live in Denver and would like the name of the dress shop in Boulder that you went to. And I will be in Nice, France in October, do you remember the name of the shop there as well? Thank you
