Oh No!

In the history of Style Me Pretty, this is a first. We’ve actually had to take down the featured wedding from today…yep, the one that we are so in love with. The bride just let us know that the wedding is being considered for publication, something that the photographer didn’t know when she submitted it to us. It’s like handing you guys a bar of the best chocolate ever, then taking it back!

We apologize from the bottom of our hearts, but we’ll be back in a bit with another fabulous wedding.

xoxo…Style Me Pretty

What a huge shame...brings up some copyright issues though doesn't it? Surely the photographer owns the rights?

Interesting that you also said the bride works in weddings too...hmmmmmmm wonder where her wedding will be sold?

If our wedding is as beautiful as that i'd want to share it with everyone, not just to one publication.

I'm glad I at least got to see it when it was up, shame though that not everyone can share in their beautiful day.

Glad I got to see it too, as I am having a beach wedding, got some good inspiration!

Bummer! I was very much enjoying this one...

Will you be bringing specific wedding back? I especially LOVE her bouquet. That's how I want to have mine, so would love to see it again! Thanks!

If I can, I definitely will!

  6. This is just speculation, since it wasn't a wedding I shot, but I would imagine that the photographer is hoping to see it published first in a wedding magazine, and I know that most of the big ones (Martha, Grace, etc) ask for really exclusive first publication rights to show that wedding. It makes sense - the magazines have to stay competitive with the blogs, and since their publication dates are so long after the mag is put together, they want to be sure they're not recycling stuff that's all over the internet. And I bet Abby will be able to post the wedding after it's published in print somewhere, to keep the exposure and love going!
As for copyright - yes, the photographer typically owns the rights to the images (very rarely would those rights be signed away), and it's implied (and spelled out in a good contract) that we'll be using the images for our own promotion and marketing, etc., but of course the photographer wants and needs permission from the couple in order to print the images anywhere other than their sites and samples. Just as the couple would need to clear it by the photographer first, and to ensure that the photographer gets credit, etc.

Just putting in my two cents, hope that's okay!

This was one of those special wedding when first saw it it just just took my breathe away. The orchids and the white details were just what I've been looking for and I'm soo so bummed you had to take it down :( That's okay, guess I'll have to check back everyday to see if it'll return. I'll keep checking back! Thanks!

I would much rather see the wedding on here then in SWS. I know that's probably mean, but I find that they seem to show everything on the blog, then I waste the $$ buying the exact same thing in their magazine. I might be a little bitter, but oh well! The wedding is so pretty, it deserves to be in Martha or Grace.

  9. Bitter says:

For those who were upset, just read through RSS. All of the posts still show up there.

  10. Curious says:

    What is RSS??

  11. Bitter says:

That little orange and white button next to the "subscribe." Basically, you pick out an RSS reader and then subscribe to all of your favorite blogs or news sites. Those readers then save the information until you log in. It's much, much faster. In most, you can also bookmark your favorite posts. It's also easy to click through to posts to comment.

I used to use Bloglines, but they kept going down all the time and marked items I had read as unread, forcing me to scroll through them again to clear them out of my account again. Now I use Google Reader. It makes reading many sites a much faster process.

  12. hi everyone! this is carissa, the bride :)

so sorry for the mixup! style me pretty is one of my FAVORITE wedding blogs and as a bride, but first and foremost as a wedding industry professional, i was BEYOND honored that abby chose to feature my wedding...unfortunately the timing just wasn't right and i so wish we could have worked out a later release date of the images...i was so sad yesterday that on what should have been an extremely exciting day for me, being featured on SMP, i could not share the excitement with anyone...

due to the mixup, i feel horrible! that being said, if you really want to see the images for design inspiration, email me and as soon as the wedding goes to print in a mag, i will email you directly with whatever pics you want...at that point though, i will be blogging a ton of wedding images on my own JL DESIGNS blog so you can take any images you want directly from there as well...

    thanks again for understanding!

and jessamyn harris, you hit the nail DIRECTLY on the head! couldn't have said any of it better myself :)
