This is in response to Brandi – Do you have a picture of the lantern centerpieces set up? I’d love to see an idea. I also have about 220 at the weddings, so I will need at least 27 centerpieces, so flowers will be pretty pricey. I’d love to see a picture of what you’re doing, so I can have an idea of doing something similar! THANKS!

I love these! There are so many things you can do with fruit and other items that are not flowers. Kristi mentions table numbers. I’ve come across a lot of cool ideas for those. My fiance and I are going to take pictures of each other holding each number, some goofy, some smiley, etc. I have also seen table numbers on wine bottle labels, which looked very cool. A lot of people are doing things other than numbers, like vacation spots, hobbies, street names, etc.

I’d like to use bamboo with dark brown wooden vases as my centerpieces for my September wedding and arrange them myself. Anybody have any ideas, sites or photos on this? Also, where would I purchase bamboo or wooden vases in bulk?

Appreciate any tips.

i am SO glad that other people are getting the something-besides-flowers vibe for centerpieces; i am getting married this june and i have painted terra cotta pots for each table that will have grass in them. i will send pics when we pull it off!

I shot a wedding a few weeks ago at which the bride did all the centerpieces herself.

Silver spray-painted branches, with some glass/jewel-like accessories hanging down. And (electric) candles.

Hard to explain.

We will be using moroccan lanterns scattered with petals. I bought a small, medium, and large lantern for each table. We have about 15 tables and the total cost was about $400. Guests will also be invited to take a lantern home with them and they will be labeled with our name and date on the bottom. I saw the idea on stylemepretty of course! I have also seen beautiful centerpieces done using birdcages with a few blooms stuck in here and there, very cute!
