September 2008 … “Hurricane Hannah is headed directly to the Carolina’s … Hannah is now the fourth hurricane-strength storm of the 2008 Atlantic Hurricane Season … Hannah popped up just as Hurricane Gustav weakened … Tropical Storm Hannah seemed to be losing steam late yesterday, but is now being projected to gain hurricane strength again before reaching the Carolina’s … on Friday, September 5th.”
what to do … what to do…
Greta & Chaz were all set for their fabulous beach wedding in Wilmington when Hannah derailed their well-thought-out plans!
They had 48 hours to re-design their wedding in a tiny industrial art gallery in Charlotte, NC.

Theirs is a heart-warming celebration that proves that love truly does conquer all!

With Hurricane Hannah looming in the background, Greta and her sisters re-designed the entire affair.

The Sweet Table was a big hit!

family … love … friends …

… awesome food … lots of laughter … great blue-grass music …

… home-made wine …

… it just doesn’t get any better than this …
Seriously, who cares about the weather!
Our thanks to Drea and Casey Cunningham Photography for sharing Chaz & Greta’s heart-warming wedding story with us.
Their website and their approach to weddings is so worth the visit!! Truly.
What at fun wedding! The Art Gallery made a really cool backdrop- looks beautiful!
How impressive!!!! :D
I live in Charlotte, NC and decided to get married in Charleston, SC because I wasn't fond of any of the venues here.
Where is this beautiful art gallery? I love it!!!
What a beautiful wedding!
Amazing job of making the best out of difficult situation. Everything looks so beautiful--no one would ever know that the venue had been changed at the last minute. Great job!
Wow I love the color pop of the decor with the soft colors of the bride and groom portrait at the end - beautiful!
Beautiful wedding! The photographers did a fantastic job of capturing the wonderment of the day. Such vivid colors.
Your wedding looks like it turned out fabulous! Very creative pictures, and I absolutely love the new candy buffet idea!
Very Cool wedding!! The colors really POP!!
We are so thrilled that Greta and Chaz's wedding is on the blog today! Greta is also our super duper sweet assistant and it was especially important to us that her wedding day be enjoyable. The found places for her intimate portrait time have now become some of our most requested areas for portrait shoots. Everything really does work out for the best. Congrats to the happy couple!

Thanks for asking! The ArtHouse in the NoDa neighborhood on Cullman Avenue graciously offered their space, including a cool deck behind the building where we had the ceremony. We were actually the first wedding they ever had...but they have booked a couple more since then!
I love the bridesmaid dresses. any information on where they are from?
Thanks, Lili! I actually found the dresses at Belk (a department store). There were only five left, so I bought them all and pieced two of them together to make a maternity dress for my one pregnant bridesmaid. And I like that I have actually seen my sisters wear these dresses again!
what a sweet (pun intended - hahaha, i crack myself up!) wedding.
...i'm lame.
great napkin "ring" idea - the ribbon looks great and ties your colors/theme together nicely. i'll have to remember that one!
Lovely wedding! Where did they get the colored sugar sticks?!
[...] Me Pretty featured the aqua polka dot wedding of Greta and Chaz. (SO many lovely polka dot [...]
The suit! It's exactly the color we've been looking for - may I ask where it's from?
Sorry I haven't checked in on the blog in a few days.
Colored candy sticks were from Ohnuts.com. They have tons of amazing old fashioned candy, and rock candy in a lot of colors, so you can mix and match.
As for the suit, it is "Nautica" brand, which we bought at a department store called Belk. We liked the tiny, subtle lines, and the fact that it wasn't wrinkly like all the linen ones he tried.
Thanks!
