Abby and her husband took a quick trip to Nashville, so I’m bending the rules a bit and showing off their wedding from a few years ago. Planning her own wedding led to the creation of Style Me Pretty so what better reason do I need?
Their wedding reception was at the classic Parker House in Boston. Abby is always urging you to do little things to make your wedding reflect your own personality. Let’s see what you think about her little touches at their reception …

Abby wanted a wedding cake that shimmered, but no adornment. She wanted the ballroom to be filled with candles, white feathers and lots of crystals, but all of the flowers needed to be tidy and simple. She wanted the deepest brown linens that we could find, and one show-stopping (white) floral arrangement.
I made one minor adjustment. The cake was beautiful, but it really needed something … so I pulled a flower from a nearby table centerpiece and placed it on top of the cake. I didn’t tell her. She loved it.

At the time she married Tait, she owned Abby Jean Press, a lovely engraved wedding invitation company. So she quite naturally, designed their invitation and all paper pieces that go along with a wedding. Rather than having a guest book, she made cards for their guests to write notes upon. We filled large (inexpensive) vases with feathers nearby for them to be dropped in. We engraved an “L” on mint julep cups that contained little bunches of flowers throughout the reception space and on the tables. Family took these home as mementos of the day. We found mirrored frames that we used for numbering the tables. We only tried to buy decorative items that could be used as favors or used in our homes after the wedding. Mostly we found accessories in antique shops, on e-bay and at our local Hobby Lobby! Sarah at Spruce Floral took all of our booty and pulled it together into a glittering reception space.

There’s so much more! With every wedding there always is …
I hope that this glimpse of Abby and Tait’s wedding made you smile, gave you ideas, or just made you feel good.

I am such a f an of all white flowers, so elegant. This is lovely.
I had the same chandelier/candelabras at my wedding for centerpieces and I absolutely adored them. So chic, and far less expensive than flower arrangements!

It's just nice to see the person behind all the inspiring ideas we all drink in every day...ella bella...she beautiful!!!

Such a beautiful wedding! I love the simplicity of the cake. Thanks for sharing Abby's wedding with us!
I absolutely love the candelabras as centerpieces! Where can I find them?
What a gorgeous wedding! I expected nothing less!!!! The cake is definately inspiring, it's so beautiful!
Do you have any idea who did the cake? Its so gorgeous!
I LOVE the wedding cake!!! What makes it shimmer??
This is definitely a wedding that shows that less is more. The simplicity add to the elegance of the event! Well done!
I am pretty sure that the lovely iridescent glitter on the cake is simply edible glitter that you can buy from most cake/baking shops either on the High Street or online. I've used it when I've made little fairy cakes and it looks utterly beautiful - along with being edible!

Where did you get the candelabra centerpieces? I adore them, and would love to get them for my wedding.
we rented the candelabra's from the florist, the cake was just the edible glitter that sushma mentioned. We chose a really soft glitter so that it didn't crunch in your mouth:)
So, so pretty! Does anyone know what kind of white feathers those are in the jars, or where to purchase them? I love the look! Thanks:)
I am in love with the last photo of the couple, is sets the stand for the rest.
Hi! Could you give me the specific name or website/store that you ordered the edible glitter from? Is it just a plain white color?
Thank you so much, and congrats!
The bride's dress is beautiful... Abby, Could you tell us what brand the dress was?
Abby your wedding was stunning! I would love to know what your invitations looked like. Are there any pictures on the blog?
