Chic-Rooftop Wedding in Charlotte Is Fairytale Material

January 22nd. 2009 by Eddye | Filed Under | 20 comments

We have been holding onto this awesome city-chic wedding sent to us by Kristin Vining of Weddings And The City…forever.  Just as we were about to post it, we got word that it was the Cover Feature in the Winter ’09 issue of Carolina Bride. Finally, it hit the newstands and now, we can share!

Brooke and Chris were married in Charlotte, North Carolina, this past September in a dreamy rooftop ceremony on The Terrace at the Mint Museum of Craft & Design. What a great venue for a wedding!

Before we get to the wedding, though, we simply must show you a few photographs from the bridal shoot that Brooke and Kristin had in New York City (a birthday gift to Brooke from Chris)! Isn’t she absolutely gorgeous?

Keep an eye out for more of Brooke’s beautiful bridal shoot photos seen throughout the post …

What little we know about Brooke’s gown comes from the fine print of the Carolina Bride Magazine posted on Kristin’s blog. Her breathtaking wedding dress is by Cymbeline/France.

We originally showed you Brooke’s shoes way back in November in one of our Wedding Shoes posts on the Little Black Book Blog.

If this young lady isn’t headed to hollywood, yet … I think we need to pull some strings to get her there!

Again, the article about Chris and Brooke’s wedding is story-book perfect. He proposed on bended knee at 11:30 on New Year’s Eve after a walk through the snow at Lake Tahoe. Brooke, immediately asked Kristin Vining to be their photographer and hired Kristin’s Wedding Planning Company, Weddings And The City, to assist her with the wedding plans. Her avid fascination with Audrey Hepburn translated into a luscious rooftop wedding filled with an abundance of stunning pink flowers and pink and chocolate silk linens. Floral design provided by Taylor O’Shields at The Place For Flowers.

Thank you SO much, Kristin, for sending Brooke and Chris’s wedding our way! Love, love, love it!

Kristin has a fantastic deal going on over at her photography blog … ‘a Facebook Frenzy Giveaway‘ … so for all of you Facebook afficianados, take a look!

    Oh that dress!

I LOVE this wedding. Any idea where she got the flower girl dresses? I am looking for something just like that!

  4. Eddye says:

We'll see if Kristin (or Brooke) can stop by and answer questions!

  5. Kim says:

Beautiful!! Are those BM dresses brown or deep red? Anyone know who makes them?

  6. The dress, the bride, the bridegroom and his party, the photo shoot in Manhattan, and especially the candid photos (namely the one with Chris holding both rings) was priceless. It's literally one of the most wonderful displays for an event that I have ever seen in pictures. What people don't realize is that sometimes, it's the quality of the wedding, it's surrounding events, and the people one shares it with outweigh a massive wedding with 500 guests and an elaborate reception. However, this is one of those times where I can see through the pictures that quantity AND quality were well-balanced. Perfect!

A wedding in my town, how absolutely to do die for are these!!! And I love the shots w/ red in the back. The entire affair also looks like it is filled with so much love and laughs, both very important parts of weddings.

  11. Hi everyone! This is Kristin Vining - the photographer who was privileged to have been part of this wedding. I've recently contacted Brooke (the bride) to partake in this conversation so that she can answer all of the questions. Thank you so much for all of your kind words!!! ~K

  12. Can someone PLEASE tell me where I can find that same New Testament Bible? I'm assuming the makers have the Old Testament as well. I love the way you can dedicate each one--i'm thinking they'll be perfect for my readers!

  13. I love the pictures, dress, style and colors. Is it possible for me to use a couple of the photos that show the location, there are two black and white images that are lovely, for use on The Mint Museum's Web site?

Lovely wedding ! Thought I recognized the dress style lol... Cymbeline is my big fav. For anyone who wonders, this is the dress Bruand by Cymbeline (an almost 2000€ dress in France, don't know how much Cymbeline retailers in the USA sell it for ! You can find them on Cymbeline website)

Hi everyone, I'm Brooke the bride. Let me start by saying thank you to style me pretty for speaking so highly of my wedding. What an honor, and all of the kind comments mean alot to me and my husband.
As for the shoes I got them from Nordstrom's. They are Marciano? I don't know if I spelled that right but I thought that Nordstrom's had great funky shoes at a good price point. The flower girl's entire outfits were from Gymboree ($49), the children's clothing store. They have wonderful dresses that are equivalent to more EXPENSIVE ones that I'd seen. The bridemaid's dresses are a deep brown and are by Jessica McClintock (very well made).
My dress ooo my dress. I wish I could wear that thing every day. I found it at the NY Bridal Loft in Charlotte. Cymbeline has very few stores in the us but she is worth finding! Her style is worth every dime.
Kristin Vining Photography is where to go! Kristin and I hit it off right away, which was so wonderful. We had FUN, true fun, with everything we did. The idea of NY was random but worth it, it's just a cool memory. So I can't thank Kristin enough for making my whole engagement and wedding day a love story, out of her WONDERFUL pictures. Her sister company, Weddings and the City, is a must at least for the weekend package. They saved my life and I didn't worry about ONE thing on my wedding day. If you can do the whole package, do it b/c they had AWESOME ideas and are fun and kind. It would have been great to have them the whole time. Lizzy56 get them all to go with you honey.
And the comment about quality vs. quantity hit the nail on the head. We had about 110 guests. We were able to get the true ambiance that we wanted. People still tell me how much fun they had and that was one of the most important things.
Oh, and the Bible was given to me the day I was born by my grandmother. It comes with a cute poem and I carried it with my flowers.
Once again thank you for all of your very kind comments. They mean alot to my husband and me. Also again, Style Me Pretty, it is such an honor for this feature.

  16. Tammy says:

I want those shoes! Looked on Nordstrom's website, but they are not there. Brooke, what color are they? Are you willing to sell?

  17. Wow! Absolutely stunning...that's about all I have to say, don't worry I don't want to steal your shoes :P

  18. Jenny says:

I wore that dress at my wedding as well! I absolutely loooooved it! I wish i could wear it everyday!!! :)

  19. joanne says:

Gorgeous, happy, fun and stylish wedding!! I had my eye on this dress before I saw this webpage, now I am definately ordering the Bruand for my special day!! Brooke looks stunning!

  20. Rachel says:

Most beautiful dress I have seen. Would you be interested in selling it so another bride could enjoy it?
