Real Wedding: Kaitlin and Will, VII

January 15th. 2009 by Abby Larson | Filed Under | 14 comments

For those of you that are checking in on your afternoon coffee break, we are featuring the most lovely Hamptons wedding today, which was sent to us by the ever so talented Lyndsey Hamilton. Lyndsey plans events from New York to New England and back to California (and of course, everywhere in between) and her sense of style and design is always spot on. She brings the couple’s life into every element, making sure that the weddings she plans are a true reflection of the couple…

This reception…sigh. It’s so beautiful, it’s hard for me to find the right words. It’s got this effortless chic style going, with the flowers set in mason jars, the pretty silver lanterns, the craft paper menus and the sprigs of fresh rosemary. It’s a little bit French country, but not too much. A little bit Anthropologie, but not too much. It’s organic and fresh, it’s styled but not over-styled. Love, love, love.

From Lyndsey Hamilton

For the reception, Kaitlin and I decided upon a blue and white color palette, with beautiful blue linens and bamboo folding chairs.  We wanted the flowers to be unfussy, with each arrangement in its own unique container, ranging from antique tins to milk bottles.  Kaitlin did not want a traditional wedding cake, but rather her childhood favorite: a “fudgy-the-whale” ice cream cake from Carvel, that we topped with two bride and groom rubber ducks.  Guests also snacked on a beautiful dessert table of local pies and cookies.

I love it, love it, love it!!! I have been looking everywhere for lanterns similar to those and can not find them anywhere, I would also love to know where they came from.

  8. Alicia says:

This is exactly what I was going for! I hadn't seen it done. But I was planning on lanterns in the center of the table with vintage jars and cans holding flowers around the lanterns. LOVE IT!

Does anyone know where to find those silver lanterns? All I've found so far are black or bronze?

  10. Abby Larson says:

These aren't quite as tall, but they are the silver you are looking for...

Lyndsey said that she got the lanterns at Pottery Barn, though it was a while back and it doesn't look like they have the exact ones anymore. They do have a pretty good selection however...

  11. I think these center peices are awesome. very casual but at the same time very elegant! I would like to see more on this line

  12. Hi everyone! Glad you all enjoyed this wedding. I see everyone loved the lanterns. Just wanted to clarify the lanterns were provided by my design team at Artfool and they are part of our own inventory. I know you can find similar things at Pottery Barn and other stores online but these were provided by Artfool along with all of the jars, flowers and decorative details. Thank you!

  13. Amy says:

So beautiful! I'm in the UK and this is EXACTLY the look I would like. However, trying to recreate it here (with no similiar suppliers of this style lantern) is proving to be near on impossible and unbelievably frustrating.

  14. Amanda O'Neill says:

Amy - check out Jamali Garden Supplies at www.jamaligarden.com
Look under 'candle holders' and you will find a bunch of lantern options. Not sure if they ship to the UK but worth a try.
