Its great to see more and more people are doing special things for their engagements, engagements were never really a huge thing it was more something personal between 2 people. I just love the photos especially the one of the couple in the fountain.

Nice shots, as usual, Hollye. I totally agree, that if you spend the money to do the session… DO SOMETHING with those photos… guest books are so fun. Everyone ohhs and ahhhs over them at the weddings and it’s such a fun guest book to look through.

Hi,
Great question about clothing.
As far as recommendations go, every photographer has a different approach.
I always tell my couples to bring one formal outfit and one casual outfit that represents who they are.
We begin most of our sessions in the formal outfit, since the hair and make-up is fresh. The formal outfit can be slacks and a button down for him and simple black dress for her. Parents typically love these shots so even if you are not the most “formal” couple, it’s good to consider for their sake.
The informal outfit is usually jeans and a solid colored sweater or cute top.
Most importantly, wear outfits that flatter your body types and make you feel comfortable. If you are conscious about any body parts, consider wearing darker clothes as whites and lighter colors tend to show more shadows and can be unflattering on certain bodies.
Another important note about clothing is to avoid outfits that have busy patterns or writing. You want the person viewing the photo to notice your faces and expressions, more so than the his paisley top and the Bebe logo across the top of your sweeter. So wear solid colors. I always tell people that they don’t have to be matchy-matchy ie. black tops and jeans, but to just wear similar tones.

Of course, these are just basic guidelines and their are exceptions for every rule. So take my advice for what it’s worth and keep your eyes open for images and styles you like.

If nothing else, it’s a great excuse to have a fun shopping trip to the mall with your fiancée!!
