It is almost impossible to pick a favorite but the sparkler holder is amazing. It is small simple details like that which make a wedding special. I can't wait to use this idea one day!

  26. Katie says:

I loved the gumball favors... I thought they were so cute and whimsical... And so easy! Kathleen is so creative :)

  27. Michelle says:

My favorite DIY was the Custom Block Prints (http://www.stylemepretty.com/2008/10/30/diy-project-6/ ) because we did a similar project in high school art class that turned out really well and I never thought to apply it to my wedding projects until now. What a nice way to add a personal artistic touch!

  28. Nikki says:

I think that the place card "journals" are the most unique place cards I've ever seen. And what a wonderful and useful wedding favor! Plus it looks so rustic and beautiful in that crate... I'll be creating my own version of these for my wedding in March. Thanks for all the great ideas!

    http://www.stylemepretty.com/2008/10/30/diy-project-7/

  31. Erin says:

I love, love, love the Love Story book! I think that we will be doing something similar through the website Blurb...incorporating love notes, pictures, and the lot throughout the course of our courtship (yikes, courtship, I swear I am not 85). I think it such a great way to show people who maybe don't know a lot about you as a couple to see the evolution of your relationship.

    http://www.stylemepretty.com/2008/10/27/diy-week-project-2/

  32. I loved the starfish boutonnieres - they're a great example of what I think DIY projects should be: personalized, simple, and unique to the couple.

    http://www.stylemepretty.com/2008/10/30/diy-project-8/

P.S. Great contest! I could spend hours in both the brick-and-mortar and virtual Anthropologie stores...

  33. Mek says:

ALL of Kathleen's work inspires me to no end. I would say her cocoa books and the more recent lunch bag DIY were great.

  34. Amanda says:

  36. Ariana says:

DIY is why I love wedding planning so much! There are so many ways to make a wedding unique, personal and pretty.

I love the chocolate favours in this post:
    http://www.stylemepretty.com/2008/03/04/do-it-yourself-projects-by-matthew-mead-2/

How cute is that? Since my fiance and I both LOVE Mars bars, we'll use miniature versions of them instead. I also think these would work great as escort cards too!

  37. Cari says:

I have to say that my favorite of the projects was these invitations using cd holders:
    http://www.stylemepretty.com/2008/10/30/diy-project-7/

Having scoured the internet for unique ideas, these are something I haven't seen anywhere else. They have an awesome indie-vintage feel to them and the fact that they're 100% made from recycled materials makes them twice as cool.

  38. If I had to pick one...it would be Kathleen's. She's so talented. I love her new blog and I'm also excited to see what she does around here. I also love hot chocolate!

  39. Erin says:

I love miniature treats, boxes, and green, so my favorite DIY project was the mini bundt favors in the green boxes.

I also really loved Kathleen's hot cocoa and picnic bags.

    I also REALLY love Anthropologie.

My favorite is the invitation set:
    http://www.stylemepretty.com/2008/10/27/diy-week-invitation-packaging/
but I love all the other ideas!

  41. I forgot to add the link, but here it is...http://www.stylemepretty.com/2008/10/27/diy-project-2/

I love how she made it seem modern, but comfortable at the same time. Again, she's so talented isn't sickening! :)

  42. Chelsey says:

Kathleen's DIY posts were SO great, I especially loved the sparkler one!

  43. Tegan Mauldin says:

It was a difficult choice, but so many other people already had the lunch bags, I decided to go with the "guest book" fabric swatches. Such an amazing idea and incredibly special way for the bride and groom to remember their event. Imagine giving the swatches to a family member who loves to quilt... they would feel so honored to be involved in that way!

    http://www.stylemepretty.com/2008/10/28/diy-project-3/

  44. Carra says:

I thought the polaroid guest book was such a unique idea. It lends itself to leaving beautiful messages for the bride and groom and is a precious keepsake that captures pictures of the people who shared in your special day.

    How cool!

  45. Evee says:

I love the coat check tags! Ive been following your blog for awhile, but I never saw them until today. It was perfect timing too because I am getting married in a few weeks and my mother and I had been tossing around the idea of a coat check. But I wasn't sold until I saw this post with the cute tags!

  46. Tina says:

Although I've been married ten years I LOVE your blog and find so much inspiration here. The photos are lovely and the posts informative. I too, adore the marshmallow bags and http://www.stylemepretty.com/2008/10/28/diy-project-custom-sparklers/ " rel="nofollow">these sweet sparklers could be used for so many occasions.

  51. bubblegirl says:

My favorite is the DIY Lunch Bag favors. They are very cute and it's a great way to personalize favors so that your guests will remember them years later. I am planning to use those bags as Out of Town bags for our guests! Thanks for the DIY series!

  53. Sara says:

I love these programs!! I plan on making them for my wedding this fall.

    http://www.stylemepretty.com/2008/10/31/diy-project-wedding-programs/

  54. Liz says:

I love the DIYs featured on your blog! My good friend did a similar project to this for her invites/stationary and looked just beautiful.

    http://www.stylemepretty.com/2008/10/31/diy-project-9/

  55. Jennifer says:

The recent map cake stand was absolutely perfect. I would have used it if I hadn't already set my own theme around the historic mansion where we held our Massachusetts wedding. Map cake stand....compass seating cards the possibilities are endless!!

  56. Krista says:

I loved so many of the DIY projects! The map cake stand inspired me as did the marshmallows and cocoa. My favorite, though, was the love story books: http://www.stylemepretty.com/2008/10/27/diy-week-project-2/

  57. McKenzie says:

I love these beautiful boxed lunches! What an easy way to tie in the design and feel of a wedding (or any event) on a budget. I hope this extra touch makes my bridesmaids feel a little extra special at my wedding. After all, they have helped me so much, they deserve some pampering too. I'm definitely copying this fun DIY project!

  58. Jenny says:

I like these block prints best:

    http://www.stylemepretty.com/2008/10/30/diy-project-6/

I'd love to have something similar for our stationery.

  59. Allison says:

I love the sparklers - perfect for a beautiful summer night!! So simple, yet what a memory! http://www.stylemepretty.com/2008/10/28/diy-project-custom-sparklers/

  60. Knorm says:

The table numbers are great. It's a nice way to involve recycled materials and family dishware into the reception. We are definitely going to make this work! http://www.stylemepretty.com/2008/10/27/diy-week-project-1/

  61. Weylin says:

Hi! I choose the floral centerpieces because I think if you're gonna DIY something, it's really worth it to do your own flowers because of the big florist mark-up cost that it would save every bride. The arrangements are pretty temporary and giving it your own spin is high-impact. Playing with flowers also makes you happy:) unlike slicing up paper and glue-ing things which can get frustrating.

    http://www.stylemepretty.com/2008/10/31/diy-project-centerpieces/

  62. Michelle F says:

My favorite DIY is actually a real wedding post- rather than a specific project. I love the DIY details of Kacie and Brandon's wedding. The fact that almost all details of their vintage-handmade wedding were executed by her, her mom and family. I cannot get the photo out of my head featuring the back of the ceremony chairs embellished with pomanders, lace, and ribbon- gorgeous!

    http://www.stylemepretty.com/2008/07/31/an-inspired-wedding-ii/

  63. Alison Z. says:

I LOVE seeing menus at my seat when I sit down, so my favorite DIY project were the menu cards in this post: http://www.stylemepretty.com/2007/12/30/do-it-yourself-wedding-projects-17/

they add such an elegant touch to any wedding/party!

  64. My says:

I love the invites here: http://www.stylemepretty.com/2007/12/27/do-it-yourself-wedding-projects-15/

I love how they were a little different but still looked very polished. It is a big undertaking for a bride to take on doing wedding invitations. She did an amazing job.

  65. Georgia says:

There's so many to choose from but if I have to choose just one it would have to be the Hot Cocoa left in the rooms for guests. I'm thinking of adding 2 small cookies to the package to accompany the cocoa!

    http://www.stylemepretty.com/2008/10/27/diy-project-2/

PS - Thanks for your blog!

  66. Theresa says:

My favorite DIY project is the signed fabric squares. There's just something so meaningful in a handmade quit, and what an awesome way to combine the sentiment with memories of your favorite people on your favorite day!

    http://www.stylemepretty.com/2008/10/28/diy-project-3/

  67. Noddea says:

By all means, the booksling/rings display... beautiful, and so very cool. My fiance Calin loves to read, and we were on the beach reading poetry the evening of his proposal. I'd love to do something like this for our rings with some of our favorite books for our October wedding! :)

  68. Lacy says:

Love these save the dates! Such a cute and inexpensive destination wedding idea!

I am in love with, and so insanely jealous of, this entire wedding
    /www.stylemepretty.com/2008/09/09/a-real-wedding-heather-and-kevin-ii/

From the antique numbers for the tables to all the baking being done by the bride and her family, it's such a beautiful and intimate affair. I admire how they made the guests and their connections with them an important part of the wedding, while DIY-ing such great details.
I plan on making my own centerpieces, with these as inspiration!

  70. Grace L says:

i really liked the diy love story books. this idea was so sweet and highlights the very reasons for marriage--love. i think it's easy for people to get lost in all the details of weddings and i hope to focus on the union to my best friend because in the end that's the only lasting thing after the wedding.

    http://www.stylemepretty.com/2008/10/27/diy-week-project-2/

  71. Susan B says:

I was wowed by the block prints: http://www.stylemepretty.com/2008/10/30/diy-project-6/ . They were the perfect balance of rustic and elegant. And true to the bride's wish, if I were a guest, I would absolutely be framing them!

  74. valerie says:

I may be one of the few, but I really like the starfish bouttonnieres. Something about them is so unexpected and whimsical. Maybe it's because I dream of a beach wedding. (and I love the coat check tags too. so fun!)

the origami lillies are by far my favorite. i am in the process of making cream-colored ones and attaching them to curly willow for my own center pieces. each center piece will be made especially by me and is completely sustainable... i will have the arrangements in my house for years to come, reminding me of the special day!

    http://www.stylemepretty.com/2007/12/20/do-it-yourself-wedding-projects-10/

There are so many, but my all time favorite from 2008 is the canvas lunch bag... so creative!

  78. Taysha Urquhart says:

I adore that Apothecary and bell jar idea for table numbers. I'm already researching to do my own :)

  79. Cait says:

    Hello,
My fave DIY from this year was the flower garland! I love it and hope to use it in my own wedding this summer!! Please post tons of DIY ideas this year- It's a great way to make your wedding unique and stylish--not to mention the money you save that can be put towards other awesome things, like a down payment on a house or a charitable cause!

  80. Kirby says:

The coat check tags are fantastic! Creative, chic and stunning!

  81. Tosha says:

It is so hard to choose what my favorite DIY project is because I love so many of them but my favorite DIY wedding so far is this one:

    http://www.stylemepretty.com/2008/09/09/a-real-wedding-heather-and-kevin-iv/

I just love the relaxed yet sophisticated feel of the outdoor reception! Simply stunning!

  82. Loopy says:

    The DIY Sparkler Holder! Genius!
I think I may be sheltered, 'cause I've never seen a Sparkler holder... and a DIY one? That I can make myself? My world just imploded! I'm sooo getting my bridesmaid army to make these!

  83. Kelly says:

I love the DIY lunch bags! I'm using that idea for our welcome bags! The process of ironing the transfers takes a bit of time - but the end product is well worth the effort. Thanks for the inspiration!

    Cheers!

  84. Sarai S says:

Thanks for all the DIY posts! I love them :)

  88. Marita says:

I love so many of the projects, but keep coming back to the lovely place card trees. The ones in this post are so beautiful, and the project could easily be adapted to fit your wedding style based on the colors and prints of papers or using different embellishments like beads, tassles, and ribbons.

I love these hip hanging placecards! What a great idea to add pop to the chairs without cluttering the table. Plus, guests who don't know each other by name will easily be able to see who is who :) So cute!

  91. Christi says:

One of my most favorite recent posts was a bird mobile posted by Spool. It's cold outside and I like the idea of pretending it's Spring inside. Once Spring arrives, these little birdies will look so happy basking in warmth from my sunshine-y windows.
