Real Wedding: Alana and Alex
I absolutely loved this real wedding that one of our readers, Alana, sent me…it’s filled with lovely DIY touches and pretty, but really approachable style.
A bit from the bride, Alana…
My husband Alex and I were married on July 19th 2008 in Summerland, British Columbia, Canada. We currently live in Montreal, Canada but we both grew up in the Okanagan and couldn’t imagine our wedding taking place anywhere else. Our ceremony was held on my parents’ lawn, which overlooks beautiful Okanagan Lake. We wanted to create an elegant, clean & simple wedding.
We were on a budget so we kept our guest list relatively small (75 people) and tried to do as many DIY projects as possible. We also wanted our wedding to be unique and very representative of us and didn’t want to have to sacrifice that because of the budget.

I am all about those shoes. I also love green mums, I'm incorporating some in my wedding along with blue so I can't wait to hear more details!
I love it already. I hope there are some more pictures of her hair, it definitely looks like the style I am looking for and am dying for some good pictures.
I am also totally loving that program!!!! I am in the middle of designing the stationary suite with a dear friend and designer and this is very close to what I am imagining.

I LOVE this wedding! These are the same colors that I am using for my June 2009 wedding and it is not everyday that you see another wedding with this same color scheme.

Hi everyone. Thank you for the lovely coments! Here are the answers to some of your commernts.
My Dress was by "Sottero and Midgley" I'm not sure of they exact style number but the sample I tried on was actualy a blush colour.
My shoes are "Touch Ups" and the style is called Abby. They are a really nice 3/4 inch heel. I then took them to a local bridal shoe store and had them dyed to match the bridesmaid dresses. They were great and I didn't have to take them off the whole evening!
I purchased all of the paper for the invitations from a local scrapbook store in Montreal, however most of the papers should be availble online at scrapbook.com. The brand I used most was "American Crafts". The blue cardstock is from Bazzil.
I designed the program in photoshop and altered a digital patterned paper for the background. I had them printed a my local stationary store onto a nice white cardstock.
