Okay, on to the reception photos from today’s featured wedding…LOVE the cake. Love the simple but oh-so-chic table settings. Props to Alana and Alex for really putting their budget to good use!

From Alana…

My mother arranged all of our centerpieces for the reception and our tables were each named after a different Metro Stop on Montreal’s subway system. On the back of each name was a little write up of how each stop related to our lives in Montreal. For our place cards we placed a green apple at each setting and attached each guest’s name with a pearl pin.

In lieu of a traditional guestbook, we used a photo album and had guests write their well wishes on various sheets of 4×6 patterned paper, which we were later able to slide into the album alongside a few photos from our day.

Thank you for taking the time to listen to our story and look at our photos. Alex and I had an amazing day full of memories that we will cherish forever!

And thank you so much to Alex and Alana for letting us TELL your story!

    I love the cake!

And naming the tables for Metro stops is so cute! Here in Hawaii, many brides use the names of the islands for their tables.

    Congratulations!

This wedding is so fresh! I love the bright green with the blue and after salivating over those shoes I think I finally decided on dyables for my wedding shoes. I love your boards and your real weddings. Also, I'm new to blogging and I wanted to let you know I mentioned this site and you on my blog [it's a week old, still a baby] but I wasn't sure if I'm supposed to tell you or get permission or what. I did some boards inspired by your last contest...

You have the best inspirations! Keep it coming!

This wedding has really caught my attention. I have a new love for these vibrant yet soft colors. The shoes are a perfect touch of "something blue" and it is so elegantly designed to be on a budget!

Are the wreaths real flowers or tissue like the hanging balls?

  5. Michele says:

Oh wow! This is quite creative and beautiful! Very refreshing!

  6. Alana says:

The wreaths are silk flowers bought from Michael's

Alana your wedding looks absolutely beautiful.
I;m a florist mywslf and I know how expensive centerpieces can be, your mom did a beautiful job!!!do you have any recommendations for nice venues that are not expensive? I really don't want to get a reception hall because it's so cliche and although I have the flowers covered, everything else is worrying me cost wise...
    thank you!

I love the colors of the linens! Would this work for an evening wedding as well?

    Thank you!

    Hi Tara.

We really struggled finding a reception venue. I wanted lots of light and to be able to put my stamp on whatever place we chose. All of the halls we had seen were very dark and often had hrrible carpets...hehe...We eventualy found this hall that had recently been build on to a local church. It had plenty of windows to let some light in and the walls were a nice simple white. I think what saved us budget-wise was finding a place that didn't normaly host weddings and therefore didn't have the extream "Wedding" prices. I would maybe look into small local Youth Centers, they often have a fairly large gathering area and even tend to have their own tables that you can use (save some money on renting). I hope I halped a little! Good luck!
