Today’s guest blog comes from the incredibly talented girls at Engaging Affairs…all about eco-friendly wedding fashions. Love it!

From Lauren and Allison…

Admit it: Before you made a single decision about your wedding, before you picked a date, or settled on a venue (maybe before you even met the guy!) you’d thought about The Dress.

And so when the big day approaches, even the most environmentally savvy bride may balk at compromising her vision of the perfect gown for a more eco-chic version. With visions of hemp dresses better suited for Woodstock than a wedding reception, who could blame you? Luckily, environmentally conscious bridal fashion has come a long way in recent years. The designers featured below have all gone green, and the results are nothing short of gorgeous!

Morgan Boszilkov uses sustainable fabrics and environmentally responsible business practices, and gives five percent of the proceeds from her Natural Bridal Collection to environmental causes. Her gowns are handcrafted in the USA and are absolutely stunning. Don’t believe us? See for yourself:

These dresses are just too pretty to only wear for one day! So in a stylish twist, some of Morgan’s gowns are convertible, with detachable bottom skirts that allow brides a completely different look for their receptions, as well as the very real (and green!) possibility of wearing their wedding dresses again.

More to come!!

A detatchable skirt on your wedding dress - what an innovative idea! Instead of a bustle, the bride can just detatch the bottom and be on her way. Also great for the brides who would love to have a different dress for the reception but don't have the budget for 2 gowns!

I would love to learn about the short one (with the tulle and the halter top), I just visited the designer's Web site but couldn't find it.

  3. Megan says:

I checked out her website and the one with the halter top is in the Couture page. What a pretty dress - very Marilyn Monroe!

  4. What a great idea. I have never even thought about eco-friendly attire but this could catch on fast.

These are great, I saw them a while back but drove up to Jessica Iverson Eco Couture in Los Angeles where I purchased mine. It was hard to choose between her three hempsilk gowns. Sooooo pretty but I ordered the Mint with some modifications done to it... anyhow I think she's worth check out, she was a wonderful designer and pleasant as pie! :-) It's awesome how many great earth friendly wedding dresses are out there! Who knew??
