Cinematography by Mason Jar Films
Now that you’ve had a chance to vote for your favorite color palette, I have some serious eye candy for you. The incredibly talented cinematographer, Jones, over at Mason Jar Films, recently sent me this absolutely gorgeous video clip of a wedding that he shot in New Orleans…
Is that not the most beautiful video you’ve ever seen? The dress, the veil, the everything. I must admit that I was actually brought to tears by this gorgeous film. Pairing the understated background music with the vintage charm of the 16mm and 8mm film, the end result just seemed so authentically beautiful. Lucky for us, Jones will be posting a series of clips from this incredible wedding on his blog for the next three weeks!
Here are some details of the event from Jones…
Thursday night, Trevor and Cece had a Crawfish at CeCe’s brother’s house. Family and friends gathered to reacquaint and eat crawfish, shrimp, sausage, corn, and new potatoes along with their favorite beverages. Local brew Abiza was generously served.
Trevor is Scottish, so along with his relatives and the bagpiper, he wore a kilt. To show the joining of two families, the Father of the Bride (Pierre Villere) wore shoes designed with the groom’s family crest on the toe.
Before entering into the reception, guests were treated to cocktail hour at the mother of the bride’s house (Mimi Bowen) before the Storyville Stompers led the 2nd line into the tent. (The 2nd line is a New Orleans tradition in which guests dance from the ceremony site to the reception site behind a jazz band)
Along with the amazing array of local fare, guests were given a little lagniappe by being treated to freshly rolled cigars from the Cigar Factory of New Orleans and freshly made taffy from local favorite The Roman Candy Man.
The Jimmy Church band played until 2 a.m.

And guess what…the amazingly talented Stephen Karlisch photographed the affair, and has been sweet enough to share these stunning images with us…
Thank you so much to our Little Black Book members Mason Jar Films and Stephen Karlisch for sharing this incredible wedding with us. Don’t forget to check out the clips that Jones will have on his blog for the next few weeks. And, stay tuned for more fabulous cinematography features!

That veil is stunning. Any way to find out who the designer is? I love it!
Comment by Rosie on 8 July 2008:
Ha, I knew that was a Van Wyck & Van Wyck event just by looking at it! A lovely and very traditional Southern bash with a good dose of glam. Love her (Marchesa?) reception dress.
Comment by Michelle on 8 July 2008:
I love it! I don’t normally like the videography aspect. I think its a good idea to have to watch later, but it never strikes me a beautiful or stunning the way it touches other people. This made me pause and have an “awww” moment. It actually reminds me a little of the “home video” from the movie My Girl. That is one gorgeous bride with a beautiful veil and dress!!
Comment by Muffy on 8 July 2008:
Bree the veil is heirloom, passed down from the groom’s family who originally acquired it from the Bonapartes, as in Napoleon. More here: http://www.saintcharlesavenue.com/a/news/villere-colhoun-wedding-4080.html

Where is her reception dress from? I love it!

This wedding is so gorgeous! Does anyone know the name of her Vera Wang? I’ve never seen that one before!
Comment by Krista on 8 July 2008:
what an absolutely stunning bride! And what a beautiful, elegant wedding.
Comment by Liz on 8 July 2008:
Muffy, her reception dress is almost identical to this one by ABS.
I bought it for my rehearsal dinner, but I’m wearing it for my bachelorette instead.
It was on bluefly, but looks like it sold out.

Jennie, the bridesmaid dresses are Vera Wang.
Comment by jones on 8 July 2008:
I think all the dresses came from/through the bride’s mother’s boutique - Mimi:

I’m a Louisiana girl and this video just reminds me why I love my home state so much. Louisiana girls know how to have an elegant, good time with lots of style and TONS of fun and spice. the video is gorgeous and timeless. i can’t wait to read more about this wedding.
Comment by Kate on 8 July 2008:
Beautiful wedding and looks like fun! BTW, it’s Abita, not Abiza.
Comment by Kate on 8 July 2008:
Reception dress is definitely Marchesa. Love it! I wish my mom owned a fun dress shop!
Comment by Jessica on 8 July 2008:
Does anyone know where the shoes and clutch are from? They are gorgeous!
Comment by Bree on 8 July 2008:
Wow! Ok. Guess I won’t be running out and buying that veil then.
Thank you!

I love the all white bouquet. It really allows you to see the bride, the dress and all the details. I am beginning to get turned off by too much color. Is that a J.Crew clutch? SO sweet. It’s all just so magnificent.
Comment by maritessb on 8 July 2008:
in complete awe’d
Comment by Fabulously Lizy on 8 July 2008:
Gorgeous wedding, beautiful bride, outstanding details. I love her little short dress it’s adorable.
Comment by Kate on 9 July 2008:
Her shoes are Christian Louboutin, though I’m not sure who the clutch is by. It looks a lot like that JCrew cluth that everbody was obsessed with a couple of months ago. I have it it black!
Does anybody else think she looks a little like Ashley Simpson in the short dress picture?
Comment by kasey on 9 July 2008:
Anyone have any clue what the actual music playing in the clip is? I love it!
Comment by jones on 9 July 2008:
“Truly, Madly, Deeply” by Ray LaMontagne. Ray makes some great music for wedding films
