Our next question comes from a reader who is looking for some creative groom gift ideas…
Question 2: My fiance loves sports (personally plays golf, but loves them all) and is an
avid gambler. He’s not a fashionista so things like cufflinks are out. I want to
get him something meaningful and clever and not resort to getting him a Wii or
something like that.
Any fun ideas for this reader?

Could you get him a painting or print of a favorite golf course or an autographed golf something? Something he can keep. I got my husband a painting of the dessert restaurant where we had our first date and he loved it.

Personalized items like golf tees or poker chips with cute messages that remind him of you - maybe your motto, your anniversary (so he doesn’t forget!), or something as simple as “Hug Your Wife!”

It depends on how much you like to go to sports with him. But depending on where you are honeymooning perhaps get him tickets to a sporting event there. I know that a lot of people like to get THINGS for there fiances, but I always like to share moments. And this would be one for him.

Tiffany & Co sell really classic golf related key chains and pens. A round of golf or a new club might be good too.

If no single item really strikes your fancy, make it a basket of less expensive, but just as meaningful things. I love the golf tees with messages idea from Catherine. If you know a specific event he wants to go to, toss in a couple tickets. If you dont know which one for sure, mock up a couple in photoshop. Where is says “seat” put “next to me” or something fun. (I just did this for my fiance because tickets don’t go on sale until sept and his birthday was a few weeks ago. He thought they were real and was very confused since he knew they weren’t on sale! Then he looked closer at the seat location and the “not valid without kisses” part and laughed.)
Oh - and for wedding humor at a pair of socks (golf if there specific golf socks) with a note saying “in case your feet get cold” or something fun like that.
Red Envelope is great at random gifts guys love.

I was able to contact my husband’s favorite player (football, in this instance) via the web and he agreed to sign anything I sent him and send it back. I sent two jerseys and had them framed when I got them back. My husband thinks I’m the best, and it was fairly inexpensive and meaningful!

I would invest in some really great poker chips. If he enjoys to gamble, a nice set isn’t cheap, but will be fun. I’m certain you could even personalize the chips.

You could get him a custom-made bobblehead doll. They are adorable and look just like the person. You can even put him in a golf outfit. Very thoughtful and fun

I see - if he’s an outdoor kind of person, he might like this bike (it’s foldable and so he can just pop it into the car). Another gadget I think men like in general is a GPS. Here’s the latest voice-activated one by Garmin, so this way he can always find the path to the new golf course he’s discovering.

Oh, come on! What’s wrong with a wii? Sounds like the perfect gift to me.

don’t marry someone who likes to gamble
