Moving on to Kim’s reception! I want to get right to the pictures, as they are just so beautiful, so rich in color…
I love the easy, relaxed vibe of this reception. Using the floor cushions as extra seating is both practical and oh-so-chic. The style reminds me of a really great, intimate dinner with friends, which is just what a wedding should be.
More Details from Kim…
I had the best time styling a Moroccan styled banquet. Being a stylist, it’s the one chance I had to please only myself.
We had the most beautiful Venue , a family farm – www.knorhoek.co.za great for weddings and for shoot locations! After the ceremony, guests chilled on cushions (my mom made from fabric I collected over the years from shoots) on kilim carpets under the trees to fend from the still hot setting sun. Candles in bright oranges, greens, reds and bronzes added such warmth to the atmosphere and having lots of little glasses of flowers made for easy conversation around the tables instead of dodging huge arrangements.
Kim is the most talented stylist…you can check out her work and her inspirations on her blog. Brace yourself, there is so much eye candy, you’ll be on the site for hours!
adore the look of this wedding. Do you know who the dress is by?!
I love the colours, so warm and inviting!
Am loving this wedding!
Wow, what a beautiful and colorful wedding! Can we see more pictures..esp of your hair. It looks amazing. I want to style mine just like yours! :)
I agree - I love love love the hair! Can you post more photos of how she styled her hair? If there were more posts about this wedding I would eagerly read them - it is just gorgeous and inspirational!
Hi there, thank you so much for the wonderful comments. Well believe it or not my hair fell flat!! Just about half an hour before the wedding. It was so warm that day and myhair wasn't coping. But we did it again and all was fine. My friend used a GHD straightening iron and curled bits of hair round it and set it in that. If you want tighter longer lasting curls, you can pin the curls in and spray them. Then let the pins out later. But I wanted it to look natural so I didn't pin them.
Thanks for all the wonderful comments.I'd love to answer any more questions. xx
I'm working with Moroccan style too in a penthouse in New York City with arched windows. I like how the aesthetic allows for loads of color and being able to get away with rose petals instead of costly flower arrangements. Also, we are combining Spanish, Muslim and South Asian families so hopefully Moroccan will feel welcoming/familiar to all and not just a random selected theme. I meet with my decorator next week !
Wow! This wedding should be submitted to The Knot, because it will provide much inspiration to a bride in planning. The beautiful use of vibrant colors and decor are definitely aesthetically pleasing!

where did you get that gorgeous long veil???
This is a gorgeous wedding! Does anyone know where Kim's dress is from? It's stunning!
Hi Sarah - I got the picture/inspiration off the Knot (Kleinfelt collection) but I had it made in South Africa. You can see my blog www.kimgray.za.net - I did do a little post on the dress.
loving the new site Abby!
What a beautiful wedding?? I am having mine in January here in Florida, I would love to have something like this.
question - where did you buy those lanterns?
Lantern were from a local decor store in South Africa I'm afraid. If you goodgle Moroccan decor there are a few online shops in the states I think.
