As I am sure most of you know, I am a HUGE fan of all things Etsy. It’s such an incredible environment for buyers to support local artists and find something that is truly unique. Yesterday, someone mentioned using Etsy’s Dear Emma shop for their wedding invitations, which of course, prompted me to spend WAY too much time pouring over the invitations featured….
I definitely found some pretty great little shops that are doing really beautiful, innovative things with wedding invitations. And, the best part is that they are completely affordable! This set by Cheer Up runs for $1.75 / piece for seating cards and save the dates, to about $3.00 per set for wedding invitations…
I also loved the work by Pink Lily Press…
These designs run about $5 per complete set, which is great seeing that you get the invitation with outer envelope, inner envelope, a belly band of sorts and choice of response postcard or standard response card. Coordinating save the dates, reception cards or additional inserts are also insanely affordable, starting at about $.75 per piece.
So, after spending quite a bit of time on the Etsy site today, I am thinking that we should start an Etsy Picks section on Style Me Pretty. Let’s start with Etsy Wedding Invitation Picks…if you already have a favorite shop OR you don’t mind going through the invitation section to find your favorite designers, I’d love to hear from you! Just leave a comment with a link to your favorite Etsy invitation shop and I will get started on the Etsy Wedding Invitation gallery!

I already ordered my invitations through another ETSY shop & after finding DesignerPI, I wish I would have waited & ordered through them.
Comment by gwendolyn on 17 June 2008:
http://inkylivie.etsy.com does some pretty things as well. i think the pricing on the wedding invites is a tad high - but i’m still going to purchase them from her.
Comment by Krista on 17 June 2008:
YAY!! I’m so glad you looked at Dear Emma. Her gold and pink bird invitations were designed for me. She also custom made beautiful dance cards that matched my invitations. Also look at tinarie21 for beautiful boutonnieres, peterenedesign for fab garters, and enfinlavoila for stationary.

I purchased my wedding invitations from this seller, Modleaf Designs. She is great to work with and was very reliable! I was very pleased with how the invitations turned out.
Comment by Alison on 17 June 2008:
I didn’t get invitations from them, but I would highly recommend anyone I know to go there!! This past month, I’ve spent close to $500 on wedding things!!
LOVE etsy!
Comment by Geary2be on 17 June 2008:
I am officially in love with Etsy. It is now my number one on my bookmark list. It is an incredible resource. Although this post is in regards to invitations. I ordered my jewelry on there through artwearbymona. As soon as I saw her stuff I fell in love with it. She is creating an incredible piece of sea glass. I should be recieving it this week! I cannot wait to finally see it and try it on.
There are so many incredible ideas on Etsy I would encourage anyone to get on there and just look around
Comment by Kristin on 17 June 2008:
I really like unlesssomeonelikeyou’s wedding posters for those that want something special but not the typical invite.
Comment by Rosie on 17 June 2008:
I love the invitiations from satsuma press, though I have not worked with her. I’m nervous about ordering from someone who I would not be able to meet in person, however, who is not part of an established business. It’s good to have these recommendations for reliability!
Comment by Kristin on 17 June 2008:
Abby, I been loving your invitation section the past 2 days. As a vendor featured on Style Me Pretty, I have become an avid reader and love all your information. I wanted to let everyone know that your invitation line is stunning!!! I went to look for invitations for a client today and was looking through your book (not realizing it was you) and I was amazed. It had a hint of a familiar style and when I saw Abby Jean on the front I realized it had to be you!!! I was so excited I had to let you know how much we loved it. THANK YOU-THANK YOU!!! You are so talented!
Comment by abby larson on 17 June 2008:
Thank you so much!! The Abby Jean album is such a labor of love…it started with six designs about three years ago. The current album in stores now was a complete collaboration between my vision and that of Haile McCollum of Fontaine Maury (and the new owner of Abby Jean)…she has IMPECCABLE taste and really is putting her signature style on each of the lines. It’s so much fun to watch her grow what I started!
Haile recently collaborated with Laura Hooper, a calligrapher that I have featured on SMP quite a bit, on a stunning new invitation suite. We are waiting on the photographers images before I post on the blog:)

I see someone already mentioned unlessoomonelikeyou–their stuff is fab, too.
I’ve bought a TON of wedding stuff off of Etsy, so I’d love to see this become a regular feature–and I have many sellers whom I’ve had a great experience with buying other wedding stuff that I’d love to share!
Comment by Brandi on 17 June 2008:
Enji Beck has some very nice invites and other stationary but I think it’s a bit high.
I think I’m going to use this seller to custom design my invites. She has been very accomodating through many convo’s so far and has some very beautiful creations in her shop.

UglyKitty is a MUST for your list! She is doing our invites and her work is to die for! She has great taste and produces beautiful custom invitation sets. Her invites are goccoed (kind of a mini-screenprinter) and beautiful quality. She also has a website and flickr set. Cant wait to see your picks!

I was an Etsy bride–love it! I second the prior recs for Heatherjeany’s gocco invitations. She does beautiful work. I also used unlesssomeonelikeyou, with whom I commissioned a poster to use as an alternative guest book. Finally, I recommend Mikiye, who made me beautiful custom jewelry. All three vendors were so nice and responsive. Did I already say how much I love Etsy??
Comment by Sarah on 18 June 2008:
I love Etsy too! Melissa Baldwin at Black Bird Press did my wedding invitations. They arrived yesterday and are gorgeous! She does custom letterpress for a great price. She came up with the perfect design for us and was so great to work with. The invitations are stunning.

Hi everyone:
I came across this post and thought I might write that some printers, like me, use Etsy as their e-commerce site, but are already established business owners. You can often follow links to their own websites or blogs … It may alleviate some of your (understandable) worry about working with someone online.
Thanks!

I want to dovetail the comment by Lynn Russel about online shops. I adore Etsy and even write a blog called Mommyhood Delectables showcasing all of my Etsy finds. I have a paper shop as well and I would like to point out that even though I am not on Etsy, I have a shop that is Etsy friendly.
