Real Wedding by Lisa Lefkowitz - Gloria’s Wedding, Part 1

I have been saving this wedding for a day where I could focus solely on the beauty of the affair…on a day where we had no business to take care of, no other scheduled postings. A day where we could just soak up this lovely wedding and find inspiration in all of it’s gorgeous detail…

This wedding was sent to me by the incredibly talented Lisa Lefkowitz, whose work I have always admired. She has been sweet enough to share some of the details with us…

Gloria, the beautiful bride, was inspired by the simplicity of Asian aesthetics, along with the opulence of French culture. She looked to the 1920s for inspiration on how to blend the two styles.

Tables held one of three different centerpieces that included peonies, mock orange flowers, and branches. Kind of a tailored garden look. Gloria made the favor boxes, which held cookies frosted with images of dragons and rabbits (their respective Chinese zodiac years).Her love of cherry blossoms appeared on the cake, as well as the invitations, favor boxes and ceremony candles.
For her ceremony aisle, Gloria screenprinted the cherry blossom motif onto washi paper, then wrapped it around glass vases holding floating candles. The array of pastries, including madeleines, was shipped in from France.

What an incredible combination of do-it-yourself projects and completely decadent touches. I have so many more images to share with you from this wedding, so definitely stay tuned!

    Breathtaking! I cannot wait to see more. There is something about this wedding that is both glamorous yet innocent, beautiful but simply so, over the top yet restrained…It looks like an image from a dream.

    WOW! Thanks for this amazing wedding. I have been looking to combine both French and Asian motifs into my spring wedding next year. I first became inspired from the film Memoires of a Geisha and the beuatiful cherry blossom festival scene.I have been in love with France since the first time I went as a teenager.It is the only holiday I have ever been on exclusively with my father. I am trying to incorporate some photos into the over all decor. As well as some of the new hip Buddha Bar music, from the night club that originated in Paris. There are a lot of elements to pull together.And this post has a strong visula theme w/out being over the top.

    One very small correction…those are ume (plum blossom) flowers and branches, not sakura (cherry blossom) flowers and branches.
