How would you describe your ideal wedding style (modern, vintage, etc.)?
My ideal wedding style would be a reflection of both of our personalities. My fiance and I were born and raised at the Jersey Shore, and have that same relaxed personality. Our wedding would not be over formal, but would not lack a great attention to details. It would include our great loves, coffee and good food being two of them, and most imporant of our, our families.
What color palettes are you loving right now?
The color palettes I love would of course be our own, light blue and red. But also greys, teals, blues, pale yellow, and deep reds.
What motifs or themes do you envision being part of your wedding?
For our wedding, we would love to see themes that incorporate things we love. We both have tattoos and would love to use those degisns, also antiques such as old tea pots, and mason jars. And most of all, the levity that living near the beach includes, without being typically “beach themed.”

fusion. my fiance’s indian-eurasian and i’m chinese so we’re having a colourful and vibrant wedding. we’ll be donning indian outfits for the church wedding and chinese ones for the night.
the night event will be held at a colonial house with lotsa greenery around it. the vibe will be relaxed and cosy.
What color palettes are you loving right now?
red, gold, turquoise, ivory, champagne gold, black, yellow, electric blue
What motifs or themes do you envision being part of your wedding?
quirky hongkong kung-fu movie stars, or indian bollywood movie posters. colourful’s the word! * )

How would you describe your ideal wedding style (modern, vintage, etc.)?
The current phrase I’ve coined for my wedding is casual chic. For dress code questions I’ve told them to think Banana Republic ad. It’ll also be outdoors, right on the St. Lawrence River overlooking Ottawa, Canada.
What color palettes are you loving right now? Right now I’m loving the blue-green spectrum. I want to incorporate a lot of different shades of blues and greens to keep it interesting, while staying within the turquoise, aqua, blue grey, and citron shades.
What motifs or themes do you envision being part of your wedding? I want to use a lot of more natural materials; beach glass, sand, paper lanterns, etc. I also want to try an incorporate a blue heron to go with the natural river setting.

How would you describe your ideal wedding style (modern, vintage, etc.)?
My fiance and I met while we were both in college in Santa Barbara. I would love for our wedding style to reflect the relaxed beach atmosphere that we enjoyed so much during college.
What color palettes are you loving right now?
Right now I love a bold red with a turquoise/ teal to bring out the colors of the ocean.
What motifs or themes do you envision being part of your wedding?
When my fiance and I first moved in we began gardening (flowers and yummy vegetables) so I would love our centerpieces to reflect either the types of flowers that we grow or for our centerpieces to be mini replicas of portions of our garden (I imagine wheat grass centerpieces with tiny bulbs of our flowers sprinkled across the grass). I would also love to give seeds or mini pots of our favorite plants as favors to our guests.

How would you describe your ideal wedding style (modern, vintage, etc.)?
Definitely modern, bold, and slightly edgy, but a bit traditional, as well: I’m Indian and we will be having a Hindu ceremony. I’m not a fan of the traditional Indian wedding and its excessive use of bright colors, but I do want to incorporate some of those elements into our wedding to reflect the fact that I’m a born and bred New Yorker who happens to be of Indian heritage. Basically we want it to be an awesome party in NYC that happens to be in celebration of our marriage!
—
What color palettes are you loving right now?
Mine, of course!
Purple and magenta with leaf green accents – think bold florals.
—
What motifs or themes do you envision being part of your wedding?
Indian fabrics in purples and deep pinks, the grittiness and edginess of Brooklyn, bold flora (I’d like to use fruits/vegetables in addition to flowers – hopefully ones that are locally grown), being green (our potential venue is LEED certified!), and basically anything else that embodies our quirky personalities.
Comment by Patty on 28 April 2008:
I like a mix of both modern and vintage. I generally tend to like modern more, but I like little bits of more vintage mixed in with it. For example, my dress is a pretty modern style, but the detailing is all very vintage looking.
I really like the colors navy and silver right now, as I am planning a winter wedding. I think navy is very elegant (and hopefully the bridesmaid dresses will be rewearable!) and the silver makes me think of snow and ice.
Our wedding is in December, so we’re having a snowy/wintery theme. We’re hoping to have a snowman/snowwoman cake topper, give snowflake cookies and ornaments as favors, and use evergreen boughs around the candle centerpieces. The candles will be in glass, so we don’t start a fire of course
We’re going to have a hot chocolate station and possibly some local warm cherry spiced wine. And since our wedding is in West Michigan, we’re hoping for real snow!!!

How would you describe your ideal wedding style (modern, vintage, etc.)?
Intimate and cozy. To me this is the perfect occassion to thank everyone who has been a part of my and my fiancee’s life and treat them to a delicious evening of amazing food, heartfelt toasts, and copious cocktails, all within an intimate and cozy setting that’s a slightly quirky mix of rustic and modern.
What color palettes are you loving right now?
I’m loving rich woodsy neutrals like chocolate and cream with clean navy details and a pop of warm magenta (think deep pink anemones).
What motifs or themes do you envision being part of your wedding?
As I mentioned before, I love mixing a homey rustic aesthetic with more polished details, ie. mismatched tablesettings contrasted with clean, monochramatic floral arrangements; images of woodland creatures and barnyard animals contrasted by a clean-lined monogram. I’m hoping for the night to be comfortable and inviting, yet with a hint of decadence and luxury–definitely a night to remember and cherish.
Comment by Steph on 28 April 2008:
My ideal wedding is casual but filled with thoughtful memorable details. It’s comfortable both for myself and all those involved and attending. It’s filled with vintage or reusable touches and defintely outside with a bit of a rustic touch.
The colors I’ll use are those found in nature in the autumn-rich browns (lots of wood accents), greens and a hints of pumpkiny orange.
Themes I’d like to weave through would be fall, rustic, outdoors, nature, trees, leaves…
Comment by K on 28 April 2008:
1. I think our wedding style is fun and unique. Both of us have gone to countless weddings so we want something that people remember and we want everyone to walk away saying that they had a blast!
2. The colors that we are leaning towards are eggplant with a punch of color - possibly orange.
3. Mediterranean style, predominantly Moroccan motif/theme. We love the mosaics, the jewel tones, and, most importantly, the food! Plus, we are planning on taking a Mediterranean cruise for our Honeymoon.

How would you describe your ideal wedding style (modern, vintage, etc.)?
I am thinking Modern Glamour. Both my fiance and I love modern/contemporary and I would love to do glam that up for our wedding. Make what is many times preceived as minimalist and just go over the top glitz!
What color palettes are you loving right now?
I do really love the seafoam green/aqua with grays/ browns/ tans/ ivory…so overdone, I know, but there is a reason for that…they are beautiful. But at the same time I love the idea of not focusing on two or three colors and just incorporating several vibrant colors so the flowers/dresses/decor just pop and scream celebration!
What motifs or themes do you envision being part of your wedding?
Winter/ Modern Glamour…what does that mean you ask?!? Very good question and one I am still trying to put into words for our decorator. The ceremony will be very organic…ideally it will appear as though you are sitting in a wintery forest. The room will then be flipped into the reception which is when the modern/contemporary/glamour elements will be added - prisms, candles (who knows what else)while still incorporating the raw elements (trees/branches/snow). The bar/food area is in a separate room which should feel like a dance club in an igloo…more edgy.
Sounds all over the place but it is AMAZING in my head

How would you describe your ideal wedding style (modern, vintage, etc.)?
Our ideal wedding would be classic since the groom is a bit older (42) and it just seems appropriate to his station in life. The flip side of that is that we are both fun loving, so the wedding reception will have touches of whimsy in spots, saluting our personalities.
What color palettes are you loving right now?
The colors we love are a goldish champagne, warm browns, and raspberry pink for the flowers, with lots of foliage. The ceremony will be held outside at a private residence, so we wanted to focus on the natural beauty of the out-of-doors.
What motifs or themes do you envision being part of your wedding?
The groom is a corporate pilot, so we very much want to incorporate that aspect into the reception. The wedding will be more classic, but the reception will be made whimsical with airplane luggage tags as favors, table cards with the names of the various locations around the world he flies to, peanuts and pretzels (along with other appetizers) served at cocktail hour, special music at dinner with song such as “Fly Me to the Moon,” etc. The wedding itself will be more solemn, and the reception will be a time to be more playful.

How would you describe your ideal wedding style (modern, vintage, etc.)?
Modern, glam, fun (like us)! But nothing too cookie cutter or trendy. We really want to wow our family and friends, in a way that says something other than “my dad paid A LOT of money for this”.
What color palettes are you loving right now?
I’ve always known I’d do black and white, but for accents I’m loving lots of different shades of blue…all white flowers plus blue hydrangeas. I’m a little worried I’ll regret not have a signature color but I think black and white are timeless and versatile.
What motifs or themes do you envision being part of your wedding?
A mix black and white prints (polka dots, damask, stripes) for decor, plus little touches that are unique to us.

1. Wedding style: Scintillating Tropical. I am an astrophysicist but trade and hobby, so my fiance and I spend a lot of time looking through my telescope in our backyard, or out at the beach. We are both water-baby beach bums as well. If the weather is nice, we’ll be at the beach, or scuba diving. He even proposed while we were stargazing at the beach! We started dating in Hawaii (I was living there at the time), and while we don’t want a Lu’au wedding, we do want to incorporate that in the wedding. We’ll be barefoot on the beach for the ceremony, but in full dress regalia. We want a semi-formal sparkling tropical look, with a barefoot laid back feel. Wow - that was longer than intended!
2. We want to use bold blues for our colors. No so-so navy - we want bright peacock and Hawaiian water inspired aqua. I’m almost sad that the bright blues are about to be such an “in” color because we like to be different.. but at least it means my colors will be more readily available and everyone there will know they are “us” and not used b/c of popularity.
3. hmmm… probably should have saved some of my question 1 response for here.. ok… see #1 response. =)

How would you describe your ideal wedding style (modern, vintage, etc.)? ideal wedding. casual and comfortable. with sofas i can lounge around on and make jokes all night.
What color palettes are you loving right now?
i am planning on light blue and chartreuse. and a red button.
What motifs or themes do you envision being part of your wedding? i am thinking about attaching a red button to everyones invitation and asking them to sew it on their outfit they are wearing to the wedding. i know weird. but i find it really amusing.

How would you describe your ideal wedding style (modern, vintage, etc.)?
–My ideal style would be simple, classic, and vintage with nature-inspired pieces as accents. I hope to get married at an old historic inn in Virginia, so think Windsor wooden chairs around long tables, simple white tablecloths with maybe an accent table runner, pewter chargers, simple yet elegant floral arrangements on the tables and candle light. I also envision classic floral patterns for table numbers and menus.
What color palettes are you loving right now?
–Dark browns, greens like flit, sage and sandstone, very light purples (almost pink), grayish blues, and maybe a accent color of a brighter green/aqua.
What motifs or themes do you envision being part of your wedding?
–Both a classic theme and nature motifs, I like the simplicity of the colonial setting with the addition of beautiful flowers and classic pewter pieces.

How would you describe your ideal wedding style ?
Modern Eclectic.
My fiance is Hindu and I am Catholic, so we really want to mix the formality of a Saturday evening wedding downtown with the color and energy of a Bollywood celebration.
What color palettes are you loving right now?
I am planning to separate the colors from our ceremony and the reception. The color scheme for the ceremony will be moss green, and shades of white with gold accents. Then we will transition into a burst of bright, vibrant fall colors at the reception with reds, oranges, and pinks. The green and gold with white undertones from the ceremony will continue in small ways at the reception such as in the bar area, on cocktail tables.
What motifs or themes do you envision being part of your wedding?
The consistent motif may be an elephant, actually Ganesh, a HIndu diety commonly associated with weddings and good luck. We plan on incorporating it on the invitation, and perhaps favors.
Comment by Liz on 28 April 2008:
How would you describe your ideal wedding style (modern, vintage, etc.)?
Sophisticated, timeless and elegant. I’m not a modern or vintage kind of gal!
What color palettes are you loving right now?
Having all shades of white: pure white, ivory, cream…and lots of candles. I’m still debating about what color I want to accent with…potentially magenta?
I also love brown/champagne combinations and light blue/navy.
What motifs or themes do you envision being part of your wedding?
I don’t like heavy-handed “themes” per se, so I just want our color scheme to weave everything together.

How would you describe your ideal wedding style (modern, vintage, etc.)?
Ive always loved the affichiste/art nouveau current as presented by Alfons Mucha. I think the man is a genius and would looove my wedding being inspired by his work. I would also sprinkle this mix with a vintage feel (art nouveau oblige-current at the turn of the 20th century)
What color palettes are you loving right now?
The wedding will be held in a manor where the rooms are very ornemental in beige, red, burgundy and tones of forrest green. The color palette is set around that with reds, both fiery and dark/brick, and espresso browns/black. I originally wanted to go with a variety of purple/blue hues with grey, but this would clash with the reception decor.
What motifs or themes do you envision being part of your wedding?
i really like the baroque inspired designs like a leaf or medallion print (very busy patterns) in black on white, or espresso brown on white with dark red inscriptions or borders or such. Also im planning on designing around the affichiste art for menus and programs and such.

I was just salivating over Hello! Lucky’s save the dates last night. This is so exciting!
How would you describe your ideal wedding style (modern, vintage, etc.)?
We’re getting married in Puerto Rico, and our style will be “Tropical Art Deco,” which is techinically vintage, but the aesthetic will very modern, since we’re incorporating bright colors and a tropical color palette that’s not typically associated with art deco.. I love the idea of representing a past era in a uniquely modern way, where it’s still recognizable that you’re referencing the past, but it nonetheless feels very “now”
What color palettes are you loving right now? I’m loving Grey! All shades of grey! Brown is everywhere and it’s getting boring. Grey is gives you a fresh, glamorous take on a neutral. For my wedding we’re mixing Grays and pinks, with touches of soft orange to give it all some depth.
I’m also loving deep purples (especially eggplant) mixed with cool pinks and blues.
And there is nothing more crisper and striking than a white, black and yellow combo. it’s stunning when mixed with very clean, modern decor, with touches of damask, perhaps.
What motifs or themes do you envision being part of your wedding?
As mentioned above, I’m interested in “tropical art deco,” but I don’t want the theme to be too literal. We’re thinking of incorporating vintage, art deco style travel posters into the design of the wedding, and using Deco fonts in our stationery. We would also like to incorporate feathers somehow (I grew up with several pet parrots and was very attached to them. I love birds, and feathers will be a more subtle way of recalling a bird motif).
Comment by Stacey Hamilton on 28 April 2008:
1. Our ideal wedding style is an updated vintage style. We love the vintage style but with a hip and updated color scheme!
2. I am adoring the charcoal gray and yellow color scheme right now! We are getting married outdoors in Kentucky (where everything is beautiful and green in late September) and I didn’t feel that complimented our venue well so we are going a different route. We chose olivine and chartreuse which will be accented by deep red. We enjoy the variations of green in the fall.
3. We are having our ceremony in the Winner’s Circle at a race track in KY. Our reception will follow indoors in a room that overlooks the paddock and track. We adore horses and the history of horse racing in Kentucky so we will be using the vintage/elegant horseshoe motif. Horseshoes are believed to be lucky and protective so what better time to utilize them! Our favors are vintage horseshoes tied with ribbon for our guests to hang over the door of their home. To please the candy lovers in the crowd we will be having a vintage candy buffet consisting of stick candy, bubble gum balls, etc. To sum it up, the motif is “old school glamorous” and we can’t wait!!

How would you describe your ideal wedding style (modern, vintage, etc.)?
vintage, garden, whimsical, personal, colorful, elegant, fun
What color palettes are you loving right now?

I’m really in love with the colors we’ve chosen for our wedding: pewter gray, mustard, blueberry & touches of cranberry. and all shades/textures therein. Our wedding is late October and I felt like this was an unexpected but still very Fall-appropriate color palette. I’m also in love with color, so the more, the merrier!
What motifs or themes do you envision being part of your wedding?
I have an old, traditional, Sailor Jerry tattoo design that I custom made from various Sailor Jerry stencils. It includes a sparrow, a rose and a banner that reads “i carry your heart,” which is the e.e. cummings poem we’ll be reading for our vows and is a poem we’ve cherished for many years. The bird image will be part of our invitations and most likely used on programs or table cards, as well. I also plan on getting the tattoo at some point once we are married.
These themes will be carried throughout, in various ways. color is playing a large part. and we have a beautiful outdoor setting at a historic home here in Nashville, TN. And the overall theme, I hope, will be filled with love, fun, friendship, family and us. and you can’t ask for anything more than that!
.xo. Jenn

Our wedding style is definetly ecclectic. We have this mix of vintage, whimsy, and chandeliers in a winter forest thing going right now that we’re loving. Our colors range from creams all the way to cocoa browns and there will be a ton of crystal incorporated to reflect all of the candlelight we will be employing. If there is one thing I’m loving in color schemes (but not using as of now) is a muted scheme (check) with a pop of a monochromatic color (uncheck). The three constant themes or motifs that will show up everywhere in our wedding are bare branches, satin ribbons and crystal.
Comment by Lynn on 28 April 2008:
oh my goodness…. i love hello lucky, but can’t afford it!
How would you describe your ideal wedding style?
-Well when talking to potential wedding coordinators (until we decided to do it on our own), we described our vision for the wedding as a “Modern Vintage Garden Party” - Very Anthropologie, fun, beautiful, funky, and elegant all at the same time.
What color palettes are you loving right now? Right now I’m loving Robin Egg Blue/Topaz with Rose/blush pink.
What motifs or themes do you envision being part of your wedding? Too many! It’s a garden party, so lots of nature motifs such as birds, butterflies… but we also love Mucha and art nouveau, so we want to have a touch of that incorporated too!
Comment by Joanna on 28 April 2008:
How would you describe your ideal wedding style (modern, vintage, etc.)?
My ideal wedding style is rustic garden casual. We are getting married a year from June at an Inn outside of St. Michaels, MD, which overlooks the water. The Inn dates back to the 17th century and has been renovated, but still reflects the colonial style of this historic fishing town. The barn on the site has yet to be renovated and the fading red paint on grey, old barn wood is a perfect place for pictures!
What color palettes are you loving right now?
The Inn itself is pale yellow, so it’s guiding our color choices. Our other color inspirations are blue as in the Chesapeake Bay and our treasured blue crabs and green for nature. Right now we’re leaning towards mostly ivory with pale green, yellow and blue accent colors.
What motifs or themes do you envision being part of your wedding?
I’m a “green-collar” worker, so I’m excited to incorporate as many environmentally friendly options into the wedding as possible. Natural elements also work well with the wedding colors. I want to highlight the Chesapeake Bay through its stunning nature – birds, flowers and other wildlife. Also, since most of our guests will be coming from out of town, we want to make them feel at home and let them know about all of the fun things to do in the area, like shopping for antiques, crabbing, bike rides, and the Maritime Museum. My fiancé and I are still in the inspiration stages now, but I’m excited to pull together our dream wedding.
Comment by Lisa on 28 April 2008:
Our wedding will be a little bit of vintage style with a local/beach-y feel. Things like crystals to add some vintage glam, and basically taking advantage or an oceanfront venue.
Colors: my mom wants me to incorporate the Chinese standard of red & gold. So playing of that, i’m thinking some deep reds (garnet), and champagne gold colors.
Themes: I actually would like a minimalist theme, something with just a monogram so there is some continuity throughout all stages of the wedding.
Comment by Beka on 28 April 2008:
How would you describe your ideal wedding style (modern, vintage, etc.)?
Our wedding will be a fusion of modern elements and classic, vintage touches. For example, my dress is a very modern, sleek mermaid and I’m pairing it with a vintage birdcage veil and my great-great-grandmother’s antique broach that has been worn by 16 brides in my family. The ceremony will be very traditional in a 1800s mansion with an outdoor reception following complete with sno cones!
What color palettes are you loving right now?
Our colors are very classic pink and black with a pop of bright modern green, so obviously I’m loving those. I’m also adoring the new trend of orange and purple more each time I see it. Then the classic brown and green is always fresh, and yellow and black palettes always look so fun.
What motifs or themes do you envision being part of your wedding?
We’re using a lot of damask, there’s something so elegant about it. I love the antique look of white ostrich feathers, there’s something so sophisticated about them. We’ll be incorporating them into our centerpieces.
Candles are the number-one theme throughout our wedding though, the sunset ceremony will be lit only by candlelight and the reception will be primary candlelit as well. It’s such great lighting for pictures and it makes the mood so soft and elegant.
Finally, my grandma died on our wedding date last year and she always had bright pink peonies blooming in her yard, so we’re using peonies in everything. It’ll be like having her there, everything will smell like Grandma’s house.

How would you describe your ideal wedding style (modern, vintage, etc.)?
Ideal vision- a blend of tropical and simply elegant. Since we are getting married in Maui on the beach, we will let the natural background of beautiful blue water, shades of greenery, white sand and dark lava rock serve as our color palette. Laid back vibes and summer breezes will invite guests to relax and celebrate in the moment, rather than feel stuffy or overly formal. I want my wedding day to be overwhelmingly exciting, but I also want to feel comfortable and nothing relaxes me more than being barefoot in the sand on the beach.
What color palettes are you loving right now?
Navy, Tiffany Blue, lots of White, and Kelly Green, all evoke feelings of fresh, clean, and crisp.
What motifs or themes do you envision being part of your wedding?
Since our wedding is held in a tropical location, we are embracing coral and shell motifs, but also welcoming simple borders and layers of colors. Limiting floral palettes to whites and greens will enhance spaces instead of overpower them. Our reception will be held back in San Diego where we live and will incorporate the same color palette and tropical feel while adding some simple childhood touches such as flavored lemonade and fresh baked cookies. We are avid recyclers, so we are determined to do our part to incorporate environmentally friendly aspects to our wedding, such as holding the ceremony and reception outdoors during day hours to save on electricity, use recycled paper for invitations and accents, and incorporate recycled glass and other elements for our reception decor. I can’t wait!

Our wedding is being held in 2 historical venues in our area. Because of that, we are envisioning a formal, classic wedding with modern touches - taking Audrey Hepburn as as our style icon cause she never gets old.
What color palettes are you loving right now?
I’m loving anything chocolate to ivory with blue greys.
What motifs or themes do you envision being part of your wedding?
My DF is a coffee fanatic and loves to make me coffee every morning. When he proposed to me, there was no speech just a simple “I want to make you coffee for the rest of my life”
We now want to hire a barista to come to our wedding to serve espressos and lattes before dancing, incorporate coffee beans into the wedding favors, infuse coffee colours into the wedding, and engrave “coffee and love ever after” into our wedding bands.

How would you describe your ideal wedding style (modern, vintage, etc.)?
I would definitly have to say that my ideal wedding style is a mix between modern and vintage, and very chic. It would also be very romantic and relaxed. We are getting married in in NJ on the shore so we are def. incorporating the beach into the affair somehow!
What color palettes are you loving right now?
We are having a late fall/winter wedding and I dont think there is anything more chic than ivory and black, with emerald green and aqua.
What motifs or themes do you envision being part of your wedding?
We are trying to find ways to incorporate all the things we love:family and friends, the beach, sports (yankees), our dog, and much more. One of the most important things when we began planning our wedding was to have our family there, and to make sure the wedding is going to reflect us as a couple not just one of us. We are paying for the entire wedding ourselves so we are on a DIY mission and almost everything is going to be handmade!
Comment by Laura on 28 April 2008:
How would you describe your ideal wedding style (modern, vintage, etc.)?
Our ideal wedding is a very fun modern vintage affair, something very eclectic. Jon (my fiance) is very into clean lines, and very simple design, with him less is definitely more. I am a huge fan of vintage design. The feminine details and the whole “feel” of that era. Our wedding is a combination of the two, with simple white tables and chairs, and pops of vintage inspiration, in the fashion and decor. We’re combining the traditional aspects of a wedding with a modern twist.
What color palettes are you loving right now? The color palette we are using is something clean and very “springy”. White with POPS of color like tangerine, sky blue, and key lime green. We will be getting married in the midwest next May, so these colors will definitely play a HUGE part in the entire wedding. Our ring bearer is wearing a blue and white seersucker suit, with the flower girls in key lime dresses and bridesmaids in tangerine. Flowers will be in all of the colors above, tying the color pallete together. We’re having a “something blue” cocktail hour, where our friends and family can relax and enjoy blues guitar and blue cocktails before the reception.
What motifs or themes do you envision being part of your wedding?
Right now, we have a modern floral motif on our ivitations as well as our cake. We’re also carrying the “blues” theme into the ceremony and reception. Our wedding will be in Kansas City, and blues is a huge part of the history of our city. I won’t be walking down the aise to traditional songs, but some of our favorite blues on guitar. We wanted to invite all of our friends and family to a party they’d never forget. Something memorable and traditional, with unexpected details and surprises. I can’t wait to see how it will all turn out!

How would you describe your ideal wedding style (modern, vintage, etc.)?
I would say we’re going for a simple but classy and romantic style. My fiance was born and raised in Hawaii so he’s super laid back. We want everything to be very casual and personal. We’re getting married at a historic Inn. And will write our own vows and have a very close friend be our officiant.
What color palettes are you loving right now? I really love slate. So we’re doing slate and a pale pink. I really like texture in the flowers so we’re using scabiosa pods in all of the bouquets and centerpieces.
What motifs or themes do you envision being part of your wedding?
We’ll have a little bit of a hawaiian theme. A lot of hawaiian groups do cover songs. So we’ll be playing those during the cocktail hour. Our favors will be from School Kine cookies. A popular “local” fundraiser. And we’ll try to incorporate orchids where it’s affordable.

How would you describe your ideal wedding style (modern, vintage, etc.)?
My ideal wedding style has a clean, modern feel with a vintage or traditional twist to it.
What color palettes are you loving right now? I jumped on the “gray” train before I even knew what a big color it would be this year. This combined with the muted pinks, purples, and mauves (think logo for Something old, something new blog http://kenziekate.blogspot.com/) is setting the tone for a clean, fresh feeling romantic day. Of course, I want to change my mind every time I see a new inspiration board!!
What motifs or themes do you envision being part of your wedding?
The clean look of my favorite flowers (orchids and magnolias), combined with the perfect symmetry of the circle are setting the tone for the overall theme. My mom and I have been taking on DIY projects like its our job (invites, centerpieces, save the dates, cake, jewelry, etc), and been throwing around different ideas for centerpieces (a mixture of topiaries, candle arrangments, and tall arrangements) handpainting our paper lanterns with watercolor to reflect our color scheme and also to cast a romantic glow, and creating a fountain for our cake table that will house our cake topper.
We also are working on incorporating a Big and small aspect (my fiance is 6′9 and I am 5′4!) so I would love any ideas concerning that! We were thinking of labeling our favors (home brewed beer and wine) with a made-up winery or brewery that has something to do with him being tall and me short. Again, we welcome any ideas!
Comment by Erin on 28 April 2008:
1) Vintage-inspired, but definitely through a modern lens. Our wedding will be a mix of our locations’ historical architecture, my desire for a formal wedding, and my fiance’s preference for clean lines.
2) Pink-to-gold. Think antique pinks and golds, with caramel, chocolate, and ivory. I prefer subtle, “dirtier” shades to the bright colors that are in style right now, which has been a challenge.
3) Since we’re having a downtown wedding, I banned flower motifs. They are great for a garden wedding, but for our location I’m looking for Celtic and art nouveau -inspired designs.

How would you describe your ideal wedding style (modern, vintage, etc.)? Ideally, I would love a wedding with a vintage french winery feel. Good food, excellent wine, open spaces and nature.
What color palettes are you loving right now? I’m planning for a fall wedding, so I’m looking to do something that’s fall-like, but not the typical reds, oranges and browns. I saw a beautiful post with a shadow gray and butternut orange color. It was so modern, yet feminine.
What motifs or themes do you envision being part of your wedding? We’re trying to encorporate as much local flavor into our wedding as possible. Food is also important to us so we’re using herb centerpieces such as rosemary and thyme from a local farm instead of typical flowers. We’re looking to purchase favors and welcome baskets from the local green markets in NYC.

How would you describe your ideal wedding style (modern, vintage, etc.)?
Our ideal wedding style is romantic and laid-back, but still chic and slightly edgy. Definitely the perfect combination for the two of us!
What color palettes are you loving right now?
Right now I am all about a black and white wedding with touches of gold and the entire color spectrum of greens for flowers and centerpieces…all that with a touch of sparkle here and there. I think it looks so fresh and new but still classic.
What motifs or themes do you envision being part of your wedding?
I really envision something different & new…my fiance and I are all about not having a typcal wedding and leaning more towards a party with amazing details that really incorporate our personal style. The love-bird theme is very cute…but I also can see myself using a simple monogram but with a twist.

How would you describe your ideal wedding style (modern, vintage, etc.)?
I am all about simplicity with a little bit of funky-ness thrown in! I also like mixing the old and historic with the new and modern. Case in point: I’m having my wedding in St. Augustine, Florida, which is the oldest city in America. I’m having the ceremony in an old church; then a trolley will take the guests from there to a building with a modern loft, which is where the reception will be held. The reception will be elegant and clean, and a little bit vintage. There are old, funky chandeliers, brick walls, white columns, and dark hardwood floors from the 1800’s… but somehow everything looks very new. I don’t want big centerpieces of mixed flowers… I hate that… I want single-flower and color arrangements of ranunculus, tulips, and hydrangea.
What color palettes are you loving right now?
I am obsessed with navy, charcoal grey, and lighter grey, possibly with accents of white, leaf green, and peony pale pink. I am also coming out of a celadon green and pale yellow phase; but who knows, I may slip back into it any day now.
What motifs or themes do you envision being part of your wedding?
I am envisioning dandelions and/or silhouettes of little birds… I would love to incorporate those images somehow into my invites or save-the-dates. I also love scroll patterns with cursive lettering for “Save the Date,” while the rest of the invite would be in all-caps modern block lettering. I also love invites with rounded corners. My favorite aspect of wedding planning is the stationery… I am a paper freak. I am SO into your stationery, and I would LOVE to have your save-the-dates!

1) Style: “Woodland Whimsy meets Southern Picnic.” The main goal with our wedding is to represent ourselves and make our guests very comfortable. Some really great memories of my family are our summer “float trips.” I definitely love the enchanted forest wedding looks with moss decor elements. So, we are doing a very casual, charming, and rustic wedding with a picnic style. We are having a southern barbeque buffet in a historic lodge on a local lake. I am decorating the table with picnic baskets and yellow gingham. We will have a local blues band play in one of the rooms where the huge doors open out over the lake. I am renting cabins, canoes, and bringing picnic blankets, frisbees, and kites, etc. We will definitely top off the night with a pie table with ice cream and a make your own s’mores station!
2)Colors: There are so many great color schemes and I am an avid inspiration board collector! But, to make my design cohesive, I am using many variations of yellow from pale yellow to mustard to marigold to light yellow-orange with (very few) small accents of red. The boys will be wearing gray vests and gray pants with white shirts with their sleeves rolled up. So, gray has crept in as an accent, and I am using it as my invitation font color.
3) Motifs/Themes: Bees! I am using a bee and a swirly - - - - pattern (looks like the bee’s flight) on the top tier of the cake, my invitations, and on the pots that my mossy centerpieces will be in. Other elements that will be repeated are: daisies, buttercups, dandelions, chamomile, and mini mushrooms. I am using two fonts for all of our paper and signage. I downloaded VTKS Dear Love and VonFont from dafont.com so that the guests will be aware of our quirky and casual feeling.

1. The phrase I use to describe my wedding is, “A Parisian, vintage, rustic goth feel”. We’re getting married in a mansion that has a very gothic feel to the outside.
2. The color palettes I’m in love with are chocolate, sage, cream with a splash of an antique apricot color.
3. Since we’re getting married in the winter, the centerpieces are made of mainly branches with a lot of greenery and a few flowers. I’m also envisioning a chandelier motif and using famous Paris landmarks for my table numbers.

My ideal wedding style is vintage glamour. My fiance and I are getting married in December, and our reception is being held in an old post office that has been converted into a ballroom. The ballroom has huge palladium windows, arches, marble and travertine floors, and has original stained glass. The best part are the two huge chandeliers that are from the Waldorf in NYC. The building is so well redone, it literally is a step back into the 1930’s. I am wearing a vintage inspired gown with a cathedral veil for the ceremony and a birdcage veil for later. I also am looking for a fur stole for myself. My bridesmaids will also have fur muffs, and the flower girl will have a vintage inspired fur cape. My fiance will be wearing a white/cream jacket inspired by Clark Gable. We are both very close with our grandparents, and looking through all their wedding pictures have given us many style ideas. We’d love to have them step in to our reception and feel like they’ve stepped back to their younger days.
Colors: Because we are getting married in December, the traditional response has been red, green, white, glitter. However, my fiance and I love classic styles, and we have chosen a grey/creme with a bit of blush thrown in for color. I want the colors to be soft and cozy versus a harsher metallic grey palette.
Motifs/Themes: We were so lucky to find a vintage inspired building that really doesn’t need too much decorating. I love the idea of having a theme, and in this case our setting speaks for itself. Because our reception is at an old post office and some of the old artifacts remain, we are using vintage postal elements in our reception. We have an antique post box for our cards, and our tables will be numbered by the various zip codes our friends and family live in. I have purchased some old postal scales, and I want to incorporate those in, either by placing candles on them, or possibly using the larger ones for our deserts. We will be using some flowers at the reception, but more candles.
Comment by Barbara on 28 April 2008:
Wedding Style: In a word - classic. How many times have you seen pictures from a wedding years back (the 80’s and 90’s tend to come to mind) that followed current trends and thought to yourself “What were they thinking with that -fill in the horrible style here-?” I want to be able to look at my wedding album in 20 years and still think that it was a gorgeous event. That said, I plan to use elements that, in my mind, will never go out of style. Even my engagement ring, a tiffany style- 6 prong round solitaire, couldn’t be more classic, and more suited to both of our tastes.
Colors: The color palette I happen to love right now is kind of a funny thing, actually… I’m an interior design student getting ready to graduate, and for one of my last projects, a couture retail space, I chose a palette of gray with punches of acid yellow and cream. I absolutely fell in love with it. Funny thing is - now I’m seeing it everywhere! A whole display at West Elm, an Oscar de la Renta dress, in a lot of clothing store and even in the graphic design world. Guess I’m not alone in my thinking. ha ha ha.
However, for my wedding, we are using a color palette that I have YET to see in ANY wedding. (Surprising huh?) Navy blue with shades of kelly and lime green (with white flowers). I have to admit that the inspiration was a cross between Brooks Brothers, Kate Spade and J Crew. My other half and I are hopelessly preppy, so this seems to be a good fit (I have a great inspiration collage created if anyone wants to see it). To me, this classic color combo will be in style forever. It’s just elegant and clean.
Motifs/Themes: Since we live in and are getting married in South Florida, I am loathe to overuse any beach/fish/tropical theme. I have always really liked monograms. Again, probably the preppy in me, but I always remember people having monogrammed sweaters or dress shirts, or playing cards, or whatever. I would like to order a good amount of letterpress coasters for the wedding with only our monogram on them (no wedding date), so that we can use the extras to entertain when we’re married. It will be a nice reminder of our special day. I may incorporate ONE Floria-themed item to use sporadically. Leaning toward a simple coconut palm or a starfish - but not the comic-book looking kind that looks like it might have a smile on it (you know the style I’m talking about).
Comment by teri on 28 April 2008:
1)Lighthearted Neovictorian. I love the elegance, detail and craftsmanship of the Victorian age, but I don’t want to get so formal my friends and family feel uncomfortable or bored. So basically, we want a lot of Victorian inspired elements, but without the fussieness or the stuffyness.
2)I love seeing earthy jewel tones as accents to crisp neutrals like back and white. I’m completely over anything pastel. We’re going to be using black and white with punches of deep crimson and citrine for our autumn, evening wedding in an Edwardian mansion in Minneapolis.
3)I love silhouettes, especially slightly more elaborate or whimsical ones. Oh, and candles. They’re so old-fashioned, but still tend to have such a sleek, simple shape. And, since were having games at the reception (like chess, cards ext.) we’re trying to include visual elements of those as well- in their old fashioned incarnations.

How would you describe your ideal wedding style? My style would best be described as shabby chic glam, lots of flowers (fluffy pink peonies) and soft candle light, feminine and romantic.
Colors: Chocolate and apple green will be the predominate colors of the day, with pink flowers and ivory accents.
Motif: candles and flowers everywhere! Definitely romantic.

How would you describe your ideal wedding style (modern, vintage, etc.)?
–Imagine walking through the ruins of an old church, overgrown with vines, on a spring morning. The dew is still on the leaves and grass, and it’s early enough for there to still be a bit of morning mist. Everything smells fresh and green . . . and yet at the same time old and full of secrets waiting to be discovered.
This is what it felt like when I first visited the village in Britain where my fiance grew up, and that’s the atmosphere I hope to create for our wedding.
I spent some time living overseas in grad school (which is how I met my future husband!), and I was in close proximity to several churches, historic sites, etc. and each one had a story to tell. I was struck by the sense of tangible history I experienced while living there (I’m an art historian, so I’m a sucker for that sort of thing!), so naturally it came into play when I started thinking about wedding themes. More importantly however, my inspiration for our wedding style honors where my fiance was born and raised, where we met and where we made a lot of our fondest memories.
I suppose I would call it “Organic Vintage”, if I had to put a name to it. I like the idea of taking a very classic look and “eroding” it a little bit–much like how we see ivy creeping up the sides of an ancient cathedral.
I’m still early on in the planning process (though we need to get those save the dates out early with the international guests we plan to invite!! ;), but possibilities for emphasizing this could include incorporating metal vases with a bit of an antiqued patina into the centerpieces, lots of candles (maybe even in antique candelabras), florals that mix classic blooms (like roses and lilies of the valley) with something more “wild” like oak leaves and acorns or twigs and berries, and ivy. Possibly springs of lavender as well as another nod to Britain.
We’re trying to get handmade items wherever possible–not only because they are unique–but because the slight variations (I hate to think of them as imperfections!!) of man-made items are what make them truly beautiful–and give them a sense of history.
What color palettes are you loving right now?
–The color palette I’ve selected is a very deep royal purple (some of the bridesmaid dress designers are calling it amethyst) with sage/celadon, leaf and ivory colored accents–elegant but not stuffy. Hopefully the colors will come across well–I have them in my current inspiration board: (http://www.everynothing.com/Catulla/inspiration.png)
While I’m not using them, I also really like the very vibrant palettes that seem to be popular right now–fuschias, bright orange, teal, yellow, kiwi. Especially when paired with a more vintage motif on paper goods (e.g. damask or art-nouveau style patterns). It’s unexpected, eye-catching, elegant and fun.
What motifs or themes do you envision being part of your wedding?
–As far as motifs go, I’ve found a fantastic font called “Celtic Eels” (http://www.dafont.com/celtic-eels.font)–we’ll be using the “K” from that for our monogram. The knotwork with the classic serif capital captures our “overgrown traditional” vibe perfectly. Additionally, my fiance is Manx, so we’re also trying to work in some Celtic knotwork elements (my favorite example of this is the knotwork on our wedding bands that we helped to cast ourselves–now THAT is an object with a story to tell!) as a nod to his heritage.
Other motifs I’m thinking of include old keys/keyholes, leaves and twigs, elements of Gothic window tracery (e.g. lancet windows, quatrefoils). I also enjoy the bird motifs that seem to be so popular at the moment!!

My ideal wedding would be a magical winter wedding up in the snowy mountains overlooking Lake Tahoe

Reminiscient of the sparkling snow, I’d like silver, white and a hint of deep purple

When I think of my ideal wedding, I think crisp, clean, and fresh. Lately, I’ve really been inspired by pink tulips. The bright pink blooms contrast well with the springy-green stems. I would love to plan my wedding around those colors (and those tulips…of course they would make up my bouquet)! There would have to be tons of circles in pink, lime, and classic white on the cake, the invitations, and even the centerpieces.
Comment by Michelle on 28 April 2008:
My ideal wedding style is rustic elegance. We’re going to be married in the gardens of a beautiful mansion, but the reception will take place in the estate’s expansive carriage house, giving it more of a down to earth charm. It gives us a chance to be polished and proper without being too stuffy. My fiance and I are both very detail oriented and also plan to weave in lots of meaningful elements like monograms, family photos, and references to the people and places we love.
I love fresh greens like grass green and lime green… think mojito! I imagine varieties of green colors and textures layered together, playing off of crisp white backgrounds. I even hope to find that perfect pair of deep green shoes to wear with my wedding dress.
Because we’re having our reception in a carriage house that is the former home to prize winning horses, we’re going to play off of that in a few fun ways. Centerpieces in vintage silver trophy cups, richly colored ribbons, and draping flowers. We’re also going to incorporate our monogram as much as possible, from the invitations, to the aisle runner, to the favors. Nobody will forget those three letters by the end of the night!

Wedding Style: My fiance’ and I are from opposite sides of the coast. I am from Florida and he is from California. We met in Virgnia at college! Our style is different and eclectic but style vibed the same. His chill laid back hilarious beach personality blended with my preppy creative outgoing personality has brought us to a wedding style of free to be. We have chosen a dream dolphin wedding in Florida about 30 minutes from my hometown. The dolphin acquarim is going to be a huge involvement in our wedding reception and pictures. The ceremony will be a kick off your shoes ceremony on the beach in the sand and the reception will be on the huge deck of the acquarim where the dolphins will be jumping in and out of the water as we dance to a reggae band on the deck! So, our wedding style is all over! Just imagine it; it is going to be breathtaking.
Color: Our color’s are sea glass colors with a dominating bright aqua color with splaches of green and white as well. Very bright and bold with bringing the sea colors to the shore of the acquarim and the blue of the dolphins.
Themes/Motifs: Our theme is really not set in sand, pardon the pun! But, the dolphins are going to play a HUGE role in our theme. We are not about being corny and have dolphin centerpeices or table stands or designs of dolphins on our invitations or anything but we want to bring the dolphin in so that our guest’s will know ahead of time that it will be a dream dophin wedding.. We have been looking around alot and not to many great things out there with ideas for/about dolphins.. So help us!! We really want to use to bright aqua as our main color in any kind of decoration and bring it in with wild flowers even hydrangeas and lilies!! Our centerpieces will have a high vertical touch to cordinate the height of the dolphins jumping in the background and candles all around because the reception wil be light by torches on the deck and the sundown of moon!!

How would you describe your ideal wedding style (modern, vintage, etc.)?
Eclectically Modern — a term I just made up in the hopes of conveying the combination of crisp, modern design with a warm, personal flare.
What color palettes are you loving right now?
I’m convinced that pink & green is on the brink of a major come-back. It’s all about the preppie-modern. I also love light green (think tulip stems) and sky blue. Step aside for green, brown!
What motifs or themes do you envision being part of your wedding?
That time-honored theme, the hiccup! My boyfriend and I met one night when I had a terrible case of the hiccups (and we all know how attractive that must have been. . ). Our mutual friends took turns suggesting cures . .”Drink out of the other side of your cup!” — “Pat your head and rub your stomach in different directions!” — “B — rub her earlobes in opposite directions!!” And, with the clockwise/counterclockwise earlobe rub, my boyfriend uttered “Aw, hell!” and planted a big kiss right on me! It’s been over two years and I haven’t had the hiccups since! (The key is regular innoculation. . )
(Of course, hiccups could be way too cutesie of a theme, but I can’t help but toy with the idea!)

How would you describe your ideal wedding style (modern, vintage, etc.)?
My ideal style is eclectic - I love elegant neutrals with pops of bright, modern color and hints of vintage detail - but always clean and fresh. Our wedding will be an “old meets new” New York affair… clean loft with bits of glamour and elegance and some key vintage details (think vintage silver candleabra on a modern white table setting). Hollywood Glamour would probably be closest to what we’re going for, but with a more modern edge.
What color palettes are you loving right now?
I’m in love with our chosen wedding palette - shades of white, cream/candelight, platinum, and pops of black - it perfectly represents the elegant style we are going for in our December wedding. For a spring event(our previous choice) I would love shades of bright, fresh green with lemony yellow, and an accent of bright pink (think peonies).
What motifs or themes do you envision being part of your wedding?
We are building our theme around the elements of our loft - gorgeous clear glass and crystal chandeliers reflecting light off of shiny white walls and floors. We’ve translated that into a chandelier motif, glass vases and containers, strings of crystals, and crystal embellishments on our stationery; white linens and all-white flowers complete the theme, accented and grounded by elegant black and platinum pieces in a vintage style.

Ooh, a bit of both i’d say. Stylistically my work is pretty clean & modern, but i’m still drawn to vintage elements (like wood type, both organic and representational illustrations. One of the reasons i love & respect Hello Lucky so much is they do a great job at marrying the two!

What color palettes are you loving right now?
For our wedding, we’re going with shades of pink, peach, yellow and bright green. We may also have shades of deep purple. Will likely have some sparkly accents as well! I’m not afraid of color.
My bridesmaids are going to be in shades of pinks & peaches…no matchy, matchy!
—
What motifs or themes do you envision being part of your wedding?
Our wedding is being held indoor/outdoors at the Marin Art & Garden Center…11 acres of full of lush foliage. We’re going with a bird theme…hummingbirds are my good luck charm, and i’ve always loved little bird imagery. Currently trying to determine the style of bird to use (vintage, modern, hybrid?)
I’m looking to create a really organic, intimate feel. Beautiful, elegant but with a sense of whimsy.

How would you describe your ideal wedding style (modern, vintage, etc.)?
I would describe my ideal style as “indie rock melded with cool casual chic.” My fiance and I are both very into music, we love going to shows, unearthing new bands, etc. With that being said, our style and our friends’s styles sort of stem from that. We’re having our reception at a very loft like space, sort of a blank canvas. We’re planning on using an ipod instead of a DJ so that we can include a lot of the music that we (as well as our friends) listen to. We want to have a photo booth which is very reminiscent of the bars and music venues that we spend most of our weekends at. I want to keep some traditions, but most likely will interpret them in my own way.
What color palettes are you loving right now?
Right now, I’m loving the cranberry or ruby red and tangerine color palette. I’ve been inspired by the vibrant color of zinnias and dahlias. We are having a July wedding, so bright colors will be great for summer. Still haven’t made up my mind yet, but this is what I keep going back to.
What motifs or themes do you envision being part of your wedding?
I guess I sort of answered this in the first question, with the whole “indie” feel for the wedding. For our save the dates and stationary, I have an idea in mind that will tie in our love of music and really showcase our personalities. Above all, theme or no theme, I just really want my friends and family to be able to come together and have a fabulous time eating, drinking, and dancing the night away.
Comment by Brandi on 28 April 2008:
1) Our ideal wedding style… think Robert Frost meets Kate Spade
We’re going for simple outdoor elegance that warms everyone’s hearts and leaves an everlasting honest impression
2) Our wedding is outdoors amongst the tall pines and scattered daffodils- so in keeping with that- our colors are espresso brown, crisp apple green, and buttercream. Our wedding party and my sexy husband to be will be in black formalwear and I’ll be in a foor length pearl gown.
3)Our theme stems from what I briefly spoke of in question 1. The Robert Frost meets Kate Spade style we love can almost be described as a Finding Neverland garden party: Think natural elements filled with old world elegance. I love it! And we’re trying to be as environmentally friendly and cost efficient as possible also: our caterer is 5 minutes down the road and we’re using flea market china and glassware to reduce waste and reuse something original and beautiful.

How would you describe your ideal wedding style (modern, vintage, etc.)?
My ideal wedding style can be best described as timeless, simplistic elegance. I love things that look chic today and will still be favored 10 years later and not look “So very (fill in the decade)”. I also appreciate details that evoke a feeling of elegance without being overly direct about it. Understated and dimure but also very regal.
What color palettes are you loving right now?
I am planning a Spring Wedding in Florida and right now I am really loving the neutral and earthy palettes:
rosey-Champagne, putty-Green, soft White, and Rust-Orange.
Also Champagne, Spring Green, soft white, with punches of bright Bird of Paradise-like Oranges and Fucshias.
What motifs or themes do you envision being part of your wedding?
Nature, trees, gardens, ribbons, sun light, historical settings, paisley, preppy, votives, classic, shimmer, youthful, elegance.

How would you describe your ideal wedding style (modern, vintage, etc.)?
Modern/Vintage coziness - sounds odd but we really like all styles and I think there is a way to incorporate all while at the same time maintaining a common theme and not being too forced.
What color palettes are you loving right now?
My color palette is green/silver or grey, just because I am a green freak so of course I love it! And, the colors were perfect since they just happen to be the palette at my venue.
What motifs or themes do you envision being part of your wedding?
This was the most difficult thing to decide upon - how to have a theme but not overdo it. We are doing a recurring theme of “music” brought in different ways - not the same icon on everything, but more of general “hey, we really like music” theme.

How would you describe your ideal wedding style (modern, vintage, etc.)?
- We are aiming for a classic, old Hollywood vintage feel that is tempered by nature. We were both raised in rural settings and are both very much city kids now. We want to bridge the gap between the glam of the city and the perfect beauty of nature.
We will be married at the local botanical gardens in the late afternoon amidst incredible plants and flowers and our evening reception in doors with the cool sophistication of the Art Deco days.
What color palettes are you loving right now?
- Both my fiance and I are incredibly excited to be using a pallete of deep, true red and pewter, off set with black, bright white and silver.
What motifs or themes do you envision being part of your wedding?
- We are envisioning pulling off the classic vintage “feel” by making all of the paper materials in classic Deco fonts, very simple and clean.
- Birds! We are loving all things “bird” right now, both visually and symbolically.
- Trees and flowers. Marrying in a botanical garden makes it easy to infuse the whole event with florals.

How would you describe your ideal wedding style (modern, vintage, etc.)?
My ideal style will have modern lines with vintage, whimsical details. Motifs and things we have been thinking of are napoleonic bees, vintage etchings combined with modern minimalistic fonts and graphics…think sleek wood Eames era chair with a minimalist slim toile patterned cushion.
What color palettes are you loving right now?
We are loving ivory and gold right now with touches of warm orange, spring green, and peach. Our reception and ceremony will be at the University of Chicago campus that has very classic gothic architecture. The reception hall has a mural from the founding of the university that has rich warm colors. The whole university gives a very vintage feel.
What motifs or themes do you envision being part of your wedding?
Motifs we are thinking of are vintage etchings from old victorian advertisements and some classic imagery like napoleonic bees. Some things I have thought of including are the classic vintage pointing hand, shadow portraits, etching of a bee with modern honeycomb pattern, classic etchings of birds and flowers worked in with modern fonts. I really want to combine the classic feel of vintage with a modern sensibility.

My ideal wedding style is modern rustic. I love rustic settings but they can sometimes be too dark and not very elegant. We’ve found a gorgeous lodge in the Smoky Mountains that is charming, rustic but also very spacious and elegant. That lodge is going to be the central element that the rest of my wedding works around. I’m also trying to focus on using as much local elements as possible. Some of the food will be from local produce grown by friends that are farmers.
The color palettes I’m loving right now are anything with an autumn theme since I’m getting married in early November. I’m not really an earth tone type person so I’m using a cranberry red as my main color with accent colors of forest green, orange and brown. A local farmer friend of mine is growing tons of heirloom winter squash for us to use as decorations and I’m going to be drying lots of flowers from my garden to use as well!
We plan on using the heirloom squash shapes and colors as part of our theme as well as autumn leaves. I’m so excited because I honestly don’t think there’s anywhere prettier in the world than the Smoky Mountains in fall!

How would you describe your ideal wedding style (modern, vintage, etc.)?
Our ideal wedding would be modern with a little whimsical elements to it. We both love the outdoors and want to take advantage of California sunshine by having an outdoor wedding.
What color palettes are you loving right now?
It took some convincing but when he saw how beautiful pink, chocolate and sage can be at he finally agreed.
What motifs or themes do you envision being part of your wedding?
It has to show the humor and how we really balance it each other. But the theme is totally about honoring and thanking our family and friends for all the support for making us who we are individually and as a couple.

Hello, hello lucky!
I’m so excited about this contest, because I adore your fresh and creative designs. Unfortunately letterpress is not in my budget, so I will be doing all of my invites DIY.
How would you describe your ideal wedding style (modern, vintage, etc.)?
I would describe my style as modern organic, meaning that I love natural and organic elements and colors, but interpreted in a streamlined, elegant, and polished way.
What color palettes are you loving right now?
My favorite color is and always will be blue. I like the contrast of deep sapphire blue with a spring leafy green.
What motifs or themes do you envision being part of your wedding?
I envision that my wedding will reflect the joy and beauty of the first day of spring. I was born and raised in Alaska (now in SF), and springtime there was amazing. It seemed like the world was waking up after a long dark sleep. I remember the chickadees chirping, the bright green of birch tree buds, the white snow and ice melting into puddles that reflected the bright blue of the sky. Just as spring is a new beginning for plants and animals, my wedding day is a new beginning for myself and my loved one!

1. My ideal wedding is inspired by a photograph of the Eiffel Tower at sunset. The sky is awash in soft shades of pink, orange and gray. It is at once romantic, classic and elegant.
2. I love varying shades of pink paired with slate gray. I think it is understated, feminine and chic.
3. I would love to carry the romantic Parisian theme throughout using our color scheme and lighting. Paris is the city of lights and I believe that the right lighting can really set the tone of a wedding.
My fiance and I just recently got engaged after dating for 9 years. We’ve had so many wonderful moments throughout the years and we really want to incorporate our personalities and love for each other and our family and friends into the day.

How would you describe your ideal wedding style (modern, vintage, etc.)? My ideal style is “Country Garden Party”. We are being married in a cute little country church near my parents farm in Canterbury, New Zealand (tucked under the southern alps) and we are holding our reception in a silk lined marquee on the front paddock in front of my parents house on our family farm.
What color palettes are you loving right now? I am loving medium blue (think hydrangeas)and navy with highlights of pinky orange (Bridesmaids don’t freak out - it is a deeper colour than apricot!).
What motifs or themes do you envision being part of your wedding? I intend to have a hydrangea motif linking the “Country Garden Party” theme together through from the save-the-dates to the home made favours.

How would you describe your ideal wedding style (modern, vintage, etc.)?
My upcoming wedding is what I would call modern chinese. We are incorporating some traditional chinese elements in a modern setting (a refurbished historic firehouse)
What color palettes are you loving right now? I love the colours palette of gold, red and black. I also love grey and yellow.
What motifs or themes do you envision being part of your wedding? Double happiness symbols! I love the idea of the traditional (circa 1940’s Shanghai glamour) with the cool, clean, crisp lines of the modern style (metal, industrial, etc.)

How would you describe your ideal wedding style (modern, vintage, etc.)? My ideal wedding style would be modern minimalist. I envision a loft space with dramatic windows, long banquet tables with varying centerpieces, and bright cheery colors.
What color palettes are you loving right now? I love the look of orange and bright pink with hints of yellow. I think pink and orange flowers look pretty together and can really brighten up a room.
What motifs or themes do you envision being part of your wedding? I like the idea of using flowers as a motif because there are various flowers to pick from, with each helping to set a different mood for the wedding. Flowers are versatile; a rose can be appropriate for a more classic wedding while calla lilies can work for a more modern wedding. I’m not a fan of a monogram because (a) I’m not taking my fiance’s last name and (b) the people at the wedding already know our names and don’t need to be reminded of that. I think there’s a lot more creativity involved with picking flowers over a monogram as a motif.

How would you describe your ideal wedding style (modern, vintage, etc.)?
Classic with modern elements. Elegance with a hint of whimsical fun!
What color palettes are you loving right now?
I’m going to do red and white, but not a stark red and white. I want to play up the red and white tones found in nature: “imperfect” whites in hydrangeas, lilies, white lilacs and white tulips; subtle reds found in red tea roses and red peonies; and bright reds in tulips and long-stemmed roses. I would like subtle gold accents, but just a hint of it.
I also love the fucshia and green combo, as well as the ocean-hued blues against a white. If I were getting married at a destination, I’d be tempted to go for one of those two combinations hues!
What motifs or themes do you envision being part of your wedding?
I like the idea of a simple monogram, or just our first-name initials, but used very sparingly, found only in one or two spots (for example, the program or the menu only). Everywhere else would be simplicity, without the monogram, but with the same font, colours, to tie it all together (escort carts, bonbonniere tags, etc.).
I also like the idea of clean, simple lines contrasting with shapes in decorations, like long tapered candles in the dining room, but short floating candles or shaded tea lights in the ball room.
I want to use lots of flowers, so that I can play with guests’ sense of smell during the ceremony and during the dance. I want to avoid flowers for the dinner, so that the food speaks for itself! Hopefully, I can use the smells of the ceremony and the dance to evoke memories for my fiance and I every time we smell them for the rest of our lives!
This is a longer post than I intended, but I guess I got carried away describing what I’ve been envisioning!

my ideal wedding would be fancy. just plain fancy. from fancy save the date cards to fancy favors to a fancy dress to a fancy man. no i take that back. i don’t want him to be fancy i want him to be manly.
i’m loving pale pinks right now and am hoping to have the colors very romantic for the ceremony.
i want the whole feel of the wedding to be intimate and romantic. we’ve both been married before and obviously didn’t do it right. this time i just want it perfect and small. very personal. and fancy.

How would you describe your ideal wedding style (modern, vintage, etc.)?
Well, I guess it’s mostly vintage. I’m at the very beginning planning stages, so we’ll see how everything ends up falling into place. My dress will definitely be vintage. I love a knee or tea length circle skirt, and am using my mother’s 1968 dress as a loose inspiration.
What color palettes are you loving right now? I love red. I always tend towards very vibrant colors, but I don’t want to make the wedding feel totally girly and stick my fiancé in a pink cummerbund or anything
What motifs or themes do you envision being part of your wedding? Well, we love bowling. I’m really struggling with finding a way to have our actual wedding at a bowling alley without it seeming like a joke. I think I may have found a private 6 lane historic bowling alley that will allow me to pull it off.

I would describe my wedding style as modern/classic chic. I am trying to have my wedding be very “not typical,” because I am SO TIRED of going to the same weddings where the only thing different is the names of the bride and groom! I am drawn to lace, clean palettes, earthy elements, and simplicity.
I am also obsessed with the green/brown/white color combination. Not that I am against color, but I feel that the elegance of a bride in white is accented by the muteness/earthiness of brown stems, white flowers, and green leaves.
Like I said before, I am trying to incorporate a lot of earthy elements, trees, branches, and leaves. I am also a teacher, so touches of green apples, chalkboards, photos, and numbers will be involved. I also come from a crazy hockey family, so a pair of hockey skate laces will find their way into my bouquet somewhere!
I LOVE LOVE LOVE Hello Lucky! papers! for a graduate student bride on a budget, any help would be amazing, and I would be honored to send my save the dates from Hello Lucky!

How would you describe your ideal wedding style (modern, vintage, etc.)?
I’m a marrying an absolute romantic so having a romantic day is weighing heavy on my mind! I love classic movies and have used them as inspiration. The simplicity of old Hollywood…one perfectly placed flower, the perfect red lip and the understated elegance of it all, it’s so wonderful. Very vintage and very romantic!
What color palettes are you loving right now? Our palette inspiration came from a beautiful bouquet I came across in a magazine. I loved the way all the natural colors worked together and from that I chose to go with ivory a touch of brown and the faintest tones of orange, pink and brown. I wanted a very airy and ethereal feeling to the palette, nothing to obvious.
What motifs or themes do you envision being part of your wedding? We are marrying at the Hacienda San Angel in Puerto Vallarta, so we’ve taken our cue from the locale. I’m incorporating an antique rosary and locket into my bouquet. There’s an amazing crown atop the local church so we’re using a vintage French crown as our cake topper. Since we’re eloping (reception to follow) we plan on sending vintage Mexican postcards (postmarked from PV)to our family & friends to announce our marriage.

I loved reading everyone’s opinions (it took quite some time to read it all though) ! Here I go; sorry for my english, it is not my native langage.
How would you describe your ideal wedding style (modern, vintage, etc.)?
We actually looked for some time for a word describing what kind of wedding we wanted. We finally came up with “elegant”, which doesn’t say a lot. Elegance is timeless, so we tried to understand why some weddings were still admired several decades after they were thrown, even though dresses, decors, venues… were out of fashion. We looked at our parents’ and grand-parents’ photographs, talked to recently married friends, and tried to point out those timeless elegant elements. It took some time, but I think we got it right. The reception building is quite modern, so is my dress (simple yet - well, elegant). My fiance will be wearing a 19th century inspired evening coat; we’ll be offering local, traditional sweets as favors. It mixes and it matches, just like we do !
What color palettes are you loving right now?
I may be old-fashioned, but I still think a wedding should be white. Well, ivory, because white is a bit too agressive. So we chose mostly hues, since ivory is to be almost everywhere, as a background color. We chose a soft, dark mousy grey, formal and yet discreet. We associate it with touches of a tangerine orange, fun, modern, but to be used with excessive care, to keep a sense of lightness.
What motifs or themes do you envision being part of your wedding? We chose not to have a theme or a motif. We thought that to get married was a big enough way to archieve some unity for the day, without any use of a butterfly theme or a flower motif ! We want our love to be expressed by words (that’s for the invitation, which do not have any drawing on them) and flowers (that’s for the reception).
We try to have wedding-themed wedding !

How would you describe your ideal wedding style (modern, vintage, etc.)?
I would like our celebration to feel joyous and natural, bursting with color, humor, and light. Handmade without feeling overly designed or precious, it should be a gathering reflective of the naturally beautiful setting of my homestate, Oregon. This is the wild northwest…cowboy boots welcome…
What color palettes are you loving right now?
Layers of blues and greens like the hills of the Willamette Valley, popping with the vivid colors of whatever wildflowers we can gather at the farmer’s market—red, magenta, yellow, purple, orange! Bridesmaids will wear short dresses in a variety of colors.
What motifs or themes do you envision being part of your wedding?
Many of our guests will be traveling from the east coast, so the icons of Oregon will hopefully help them get excited abou
