We only have a few more weddings in our Unique Weddings Week, part II! This next one was sent to me by Little Black Book member, Marc at Studio 306, from a couple who was married at the Round Barn Farm in Minnesota…
I chose this wedding for a couple of reasons…first, that incredible location. The barn is not only gorgeous, but it’s architecturally interesting and so unique. And I really think that this couple only enhanced the beauty of their site through their rustic, minimalist decor. The second reason that I picked this wedding to feature…the details. Every detail is perfect. Perfect for the space, perfect for the overall style. The little bird place card holders, the simplistic but gorgeous hanging votives…every detail is both masculine and feminine…pretty, but rustic.
But to be totally honest, the main reason that I picked this wedding…THE CAKE! Check out this awesome cake that the bride designed as a surprise for her groom….
This great Mario Brothers Cake was designed by the oh-so-talented team at Gateaux. And, a few other quick mentions to the brilliant vendors….Flora Bella for creating those gorgeous arrangements and Mi Mi Design for the planning and coordination!
Thank you so much to Studio 306 for this beautiful wedding!
More to come!

WOW! The votives are adorable! And the cake is amazing!
So gorgeous!! I love the venue and the lovebirds and the votives and lanterns!!
The cake is absolutely awesome! Growing up on NES and video games, MY fiancee and I can definitely appreciate it! Kudos to the happy couple.
PLEASE tell me where i can find those birds holding the place cards - they are adorable!
beautiful wedding!
Ditto on where to find the birds holding the place cards!! We are using two baccarat crystal birds in that same shape as a cake topper, but certainly don't have the budget to put the baccarat ones at every place setting (yikes!)--I would love to know where they found these! What a gorgeous wedding in general, which I especially appreciate as I am getting married in a barn in October and hoping for the same feel.
That cake is rocking!!! Thanks for sharing.
Awesome wedding! Love the rustic feel. Wish I could find a barn like that in CA! I might have to steal the hanging votives idea-how romantic! I love her dress as well!
Thank you all for your kind words. It was such a great day for us and we have so many great memories.
About the bird place card holders...
I purchased them from Jackson and Perkins
(www.jacksonandperkins.com). I looked on their site and they no
longer carry them; I purchased them in the summer
of 2006 so it's been awhile. You could try calling their customer service
number as they might be able to help.
This is the town I grew up in!! Red Wing, Minnesota! They started this B&B a few years ago and actually built the house in a style to match the barn as close as they could. They make wonderful bread there too!(hence their name "Round Barn B&B&B" - bed & breakfast & bread).
I'm getting married in September in Red Wing, but I hadn't thought of here. Our ceremony will be at my family's vineyard/winery and the reception at the historic St. James Hotel.
I guess this is turning into a travel brochure for Red Wing, but check it out if you're in the midwest, it's a great little town!
I'm getting married at the Round Barn in three months. I am looking for lanterns that Elaine may approve of for the centerpieces. You had a lot of luck, clearly! Any advice? And did you rent the battery operated votives? What kind are they? Thanks in advance for any help. :)
