Wedding Jewelry by Tara Andrews
I am traveling to Houston today to visit the fam, but I wanted to leave you for the week with ONE GREAT POST. Tara Andrews, a wonderful jewelry designer whose work is sold on Etsy, is looking for a little help in launching her new line of bridal jewelry. Pearls specifically. Absolutely gorgeous pearls…
Tara has a few questions that she is hoping you guys can tackle. As a thank you, she will give one lucky girl an 18 inch white potato pearl necklace and earrings (as seen in the photo on the bottom left) OR a $75 gift certificate to her store!
I honestly love supporting Indie designers, so any help that you can give Tara would be greatly appreciated! Here are Tara’s questions…
1. Are you planning to wear pearls for your wedding? If not, what are you
wearing?
3. What style
jewelry are you planning to wear?
a) Classic style such as a single
strand of white or pink pearls.
b) Modern style such as a chunky
multi-strand twisted pearl necklace that may be white or a metallic dyed
color.
c) Something custom made.
4. What is your jewelry budget?
Just post your answers in our comments section and you are entered to win one of Tara’s beautiful designs! We’ll close the contest next Friday at 5PM. Thanks so much and have a great weekend!

Comment by Rebecca Gomes on 28 March 2008:
1. I thought about wearing pearls for my wedding, but my budget does not allow for it. I have a pearl necklace from my mother but the pearls are not in the best of conditions. Instead I’m wearing my fiance’s great grandmother’s blue crystal beads, which my mother in law made into a necklace with some Swarovski crystals.
2. The necklace I’m planning on wearing is custom made, and it incorporates my “something old” and “something borrowed,” which is very important to me.
3. My jewelry budget is very small, probably about $100.
Comment by Aldora Sequeira on 28 March 2008:
1. Yes - my dress is very Audrey Hepburn like and pearls will work well with it.
2. a) Classic style such as a single strand of white or pink pearls.
3. I have a small budget - under $200
Comment by Brittany on 28 March 2008:
1. At my recent wedding, I wore jewelry with both crystal and pearls. In my ears were all crystal, and I wore hair pins made of crystal and pearls.
2. I chose to wear large crystal chandelier earrings and no necklace. My style is less classic, more modern. I was drawn to the chunky pearl necklaces with a crystal brooch holding the strands together, but opted for the earrings. I also wore a big, blue topaz ring, borrowed from my grandmother.
3. My jewelry budget was about $300. I wasn’t very strict with this budget though–I would have spent more or less depending on the jewelry I loved.
Comment by Claire on 28 March 2008:
I love Etsy! And I’ll gladly answer your questions…
I’m actually not wearing pearls for my wedding, but most of the brides I know will be. And I will be wearing classic style pearl jewelry as a bridesmaid in the near future. For my own wedding, I plan on wearing something with a bit of sparkle. Due to the style of my dress I’ll probably go with crystal or cubic zirconia chandelier earrings. I’m planning on spending anywhere between $40-$100.
Good luck with your line…everything is beautiful!
Comment by maia on 28 March 2008:
1. no pearls: something more antique/art deco w/ a light feel
3. c) Something custom made.
4. $150-$200
Comment by Cheri on 28 March 2008:
1. Yes I will be wearing pearls at my wedding! I think they are the quintessential bridal accessory. I have not picked out my jewelry yet (I just got my dress!) but I’m envisioning something simple and classic.
3. A- Classic style such as a single strand of white or pink pearls.
4. My jewelry budget is around $600 because I was able to get a dress for short money, I can transfer funds to the jewelry department.
Comment by Lisa on 28 March 2008:
1. I am planning to wear pearls and crystals. I really wanted to incorporate something blue such as topaz into the earrings but am finding it very hard to find earrings where the stone is modest and complements the pearls.
3. I am planning to wear something custom made. I have been spending most of my time on etsy to find something unique.
4. My budget is to find necklace and earrings for
Comment by Jill K. on 28 March 2008:
1. Yes. I will wear pearl earrings and possibly a pearl necklace.
2. I’m not sure which category I fit into. The wedding ceremony will take place in an amphitheater in the woods - the reception in a rustic lodge-type building, so I want my jewelry to have a vintage, romantic look - nothing modern or sleek.
3. $100-150 or more, depending on whether or not I’ll wear the pieces in the future.
Comment by sydney richardson on 28 March 2008:
1. I am planning on wearing pearls because in my opinion they are classic and soft, but can still have a modern twist added without being to much.
3. I think I’ll likley go with something custom made, as I want something different but elegant and classy at the same time.
4. My budget is approximately 200-300, provided I’d wear it again at other events.
Love Etsy, it is my new fav. indulgence and I visit multiple times a day. I will buy my wedding jewellery at etsy to support new and upcoming artists/designers. To date I have bought several things wedding and non wedding related and my experience has been amazing!

Comment by carol on 28 March 2008:
1. i am open to wearing pearls but haven’t made a final decision. i won’t wear a necklace, just earrings. If not pearls, I was thinking something with crystals or other semi-precious gems.
2. I think I want a more modern-looking pair of earrings.
3. I’m willing to spend up to $100 for the earrings.
Comment by Julia on 28 March 2008:
1. yes I will be - can’t think of anything else that looks so classy
3. a) I’m not sure of my neckline yet, but probably won’t go strapless so want to keep the jewellery simple. As a rule I want the feel of the wedding to be fun, but also really elegant, but very romantic too! - I think that a single strand and nice drop earrings would suit perfectly. I can’t decide between perfect spherical and unformed (I’m sure there is lingo but can’t recall it right now!) pearls - I like all of them!
I think I’ll also give pearls as gifts for my bridesmaids, I got some from my aunty when I was a flowergirl years ago and have wore them until they were too small - such a timeless gift, and i think would go well with any sort of bridesmaid dress.
4. Not sure, probably quite small though - less than $100?
Comment by Emily on 28 March 2008:
1. Probably not, just crystals. I want to wear both crystal and pearl, but have not found one that I liked that includes both.
3. Classic, but I would do something modern if my mother wasn’t so insistent
4. No more than $100
Comment by Brooke on 28 March 2008:
1. Yes, but I didn’t think I was going to wear pearls at first; however, when my grandmother and I were looking through her extensive jewelry collection we found a piece to satisfy my “Something Old.”
2. My pearls are these beautiful, vintage, off white, drop pearl earrings. The back is very unusual, it actually has a little screw that tightens to the back of the ear. I was a little hesitant about wearing “screw-on” earrings, but I think they are absolutely stunning and will go perfectly with the dress. My dress is old hollywood, so I want the jewelry to reflect a more vintage style.
3. $0, so far I’ve keep within that budget!!!
Comment by mari-ann on 28 March 2008:
1. Yes, I am planning on wearing pearls.
2. I am planning on wearing a classic, single strand, but the shape of the pearl is on the obong side.
3. The necklace I am wearing is going to be part of my wedding gift from FI. And I am still looking for earrings and maybe a bracelet. we didn’t really have a budget, but got the necklace for just under $300.
Comment by Lindsey Elisabeth on 28 March 2008:
1. Yes! I am planning on wearing pearls in my wedding. We are having a beach wedding and wearing diamonds or other stones just didn’t feel right to me or my lovely bridesmaids. Pearls on the other hand are not only beautifully classic and classy but fit better for a beach setting, especially for a Pacific northwestern beach setting.
3. I love a classic strand of pearls, but for my wedding I’m wearing more modern jewelry. I love irregular pearls. I think they are naturally beautiful (which is how I would hope I look on my wedding day).
And I am looking into getting something custom done for my v-neck San Patrick lace dress. I’m still searching for the perfect set to highlight my dress and myself. Plus, something custom makes a beautiful heirloom piece for a future daughter or niece.
4. I haven’t really set a budget at this point. I certainly know my limits (I probably wouldn’t spend more than $150 on a necklace) but if I found something special I would splurge on it for the mere fact it is a piece I will keep and cherish forever, especially if it’s re-wearable (another reason pearls are great, they are almost always appropriate!).
Comment by Sara Albert on 28 March 2008:
Hello!
I definitely plan to incorporate pearls into my jewelry, I just have not decided if I am going to go the earrings or necklace route, or both!
Our wedding is going to have a little bit of a classic southern feeling to it, so I want my jewelry to reflect that, but I also want to have some individuality/spice to it. I think that I will probably get something custom made.
My budget is $100-$150.
Comment by Laura on 28 March 2008:
At my recent wedding, I did not wear a necklace because of the intricate neckline on my dress, but I did wear simple pearl stud earring from my grandmother that I loved. I think wedding jewelry and pearls are the first thing that come to mind!
If I had considered a necklace, it definitely would have been pearls - either a classic strand from my grandmother or I likely would have purchased something like a single pearl on a chain. Definitely classic style though. My jewelry budget was under $100 - and I kept it to $0 by borrowing family jewelry! But I definitely would have considered purchasing something if I loved it.
Your work is beautiful - thanks!
Comment by Beth on 28 March 2008:
1. Yes, but I’m really looking for something non-traditional.
2. My dress is really simply, so that allows me to play up the jewelry a little more than I might normally so I would say:
b) Modern style such as a chunky multi-strand twisted pearl necklace that may be white or a metallic dyed color.
3. What is your jewelry budget? Around $500
Fun poll! Thanks!
Comment by Jennifer on 28 March 2008:
1. I wasn’t going to but I think I may end up changing my mind.
2. I would love to have something custom made, but my jewelry budget is <$200. I really want to incorporate something blue into either the necklace or earrings, or both. I would prefer to have something handmade so that it can be more personalized.
3.<$200. This is my second wedding and I have two children from my first marriage, so I am not planning the full-on, princess wedding.
Comment by Kristen on 28 March 2008:
I’m not really a “pearl girl” but my dress is kind of a creamy color, so I think pearls will really complement it.
So:
1. Yes, I am looking for some pearl drop earings to wear at my wedding, and possibly also a headband that encorporates pearls. I don’t think I want to wear a necklace.
2. Style: Mostly classic- I like simple elegance, but am looking for drop earrings. Again, don’t think I will wear a necklace but if I do I want something really dainty. Likely not pearls for the necklace if I wear one- something silver or platnum maybe with a small diamond or intricate design to pick up the delicate lacework on a small part of my dress.
3. Budget: Not sure on this one. If I find something timeless I love I’m willing to spend more (100-500 range?)- if they are really high-quality, beautiful pieces.
Comment by jennag on 28 March 2008:
1. I was planning on my grandmother’s earrings, which are diamonds. I think that it is it besides my engagement and wedding ring.
2. I would say that my style of jewellery is very classic.
3. My budget is non-exsistent at this point since I don’t think that I will need to buy anything. However, once I get my dress, I may feel that I need to add a necklace.
Comment by Anna on 28 March 2008:
1. I’m not wearing pearls for my wedding. I considered wearing my mother’s pearl necklace, but I decided against wearing a necklace at all.
2. I’m wearing crystal pave drop earrings and a crystal cuff bracelet - and of course, my diamond eternity band!
3. I would describe the style of my jewelry as deco.
4. Other than my band, my jewelry budget was fairly small - about $250.
Comment by Vanessa on 28 March 2008:
1. No, I will not be wearing pearls for my wedding. My wedding is going to be more casual chic, and I feel pearls are more formal looking. I plan on wearing something sparkly that reflects light. I’m having an outdoor wedding on the river, and my colors resemble the blues and greens found in sea glass. I’m hoping to find something that goes along with that theme.
2. Probably something that resembles classic styling, but with more modern materials.
3. My jewelry budget is $100 or under.
Comment by Laura on 28 March 2008:
Tara,
Being a June baby I just wanted to say how beautiful your pearls are. It makes me want to wear my birthstone daily!
1. I am not wearing pearls on my wedding day just because my dress has crystals on it and pearls didn’t compliment the dress.
I am wearing my my diamond earrings and a passed down crystal braclet.
3. I am going very simple as to not over do it. Classic single stone studs and a crystal wrap braclet
4. My jewerly budget was a couple of thousand dollars including my wedding band.
I will definetly be keeping you a favorite being as though I am a June bride too it would make anniversary gift.
Comment by Stephanie on 28 March 2008:
1. I’m not wearing pearls, but I wanted my bmaids to wear them.
3. I’m not sure what kind of jewelry I will wear because my dress has crystals on it, possibly a simple diamond necklace and studs.
4. My jewelry budget is up in the air right now because I really have no idea what I want or how much it will cost. I would guess somewhere around $500 or less not including wedding bands
Comment by Gaby on 28 March 2008:
I haven’t decided on my dress yet, but know for sure I’ll be wearing pearls on my wedding.
I think I’ll go for the earrings, not too big but not too small either, maybe one big pearl on a white gold w/ tiny diamonds structure?
I believe I’ll wear either something classic or custom made, but definitely not modern. My budget is around $500 (not including the wedding bands, obviously).
Comment by gourmetfaerie on 28 March 2008:
i am wearing pearls for my wedding… i’ve taken all the pearls i’ve received as gifts and having them fashioned (by a jewelry designer friend) to for modern simplicity and the potential for everyday wearability. i love how pearls can dress up any outfit and keep a modern bride elegant.
i’m having pearl jewelry made for all the ladies in our wedding party and our budget is between $2-300 dollars (having supplied most of the pearls ourselves).
Comment by Catherine on 28 March 2008:
Yes - I definitely wearing pearls! Single strand, classic Tiffany’s toggle braclet, necklace and matching earrings. Budget - 2K
Comment by christine on 28 March 2008:
1. I am planning to wears pearls on my wedding day and I am actually surprised by my decision. I am not a traditional bride but I think pearls are the perfect accent for my light and airy wedding dress and will look stunning on the beach!
3. I’d like to wear something modern (B) that has a twist. I love the cluster pair you have shown here.
4. My budget is about $100. I bought a sample sale dress, so I have a little extra to put towards jewelry.
Comment by Tiffany on 28 March 2008:
1. Absolutely - I am planning to wear drop pearl earrings and a pearl bracelet.
2. I found some custom made earrings by Haute bridal in San Francisco, but I am still looking for a very simple, classy bracelet with two strands of pearls.
3. My jewelry budget is unde $200. I am also looking for some classy pearl earrings to give as gifts to my 7 bridesmaids!!
Comment by Shannon on 28 March 2008:
1. Yes, I am wearing freshwater pearls. I was trying for a very “Great Gatsby” feel, and the pearls worked perfectly. I started out saying “No pearls! Too traditional!”; but I guess they are a tradition for a reason!
2. Both the earrings and necklace are classic.
3. My jewelry budget, not counting the wedding band, was $150.
Comment by Ali on 28 March 2008:
Such beautiful work, Tara!
Yes, I love pearls! I hope to wear a classic single strand or something custom-made. My budget is around $200.
Comment by Annette on 28 March 2008:
1.) I plan on wearing a light blue chandlier earrings with an antique feel, very Marilyn Monroe. The color will match my engagement ring.
2.)I am decding on etsy.com for inspiration, as well as SMP. I would love to have something handmade, I think we should give aspiring designers a chance. No name brands for me.
3.) Small budget, about $75, just because I do not think elegance is in form of a price tag. You can find great cutom jewlery online.
Comment by Helen on 28 March 2008:
1. Yes! I’m wearing antique real pearls that my mother gave me, with studs and vintage costume pearl bracelet from the 60s (which I bought as a lot of three to give one each to my two bridesmaids)
3. a) Classic style such as a single strand of white or pink pearls.
4. I’m afraid we’re both very naughty and haven’t really budgeted at all, specifically. Everything is made, crafted, found or sourced, so we’re generally saving overall and so buy pieces that we like and that make sense. I bought antique cufflinks for my man for £30, the vintage bracelets were £40 for the three, and I’ve ordered 5 floral headpieces for my maids and flower girls from an etsy seller for £40. I think it’s entirely based on whether I would wear things again and whether I approve of the source: the more crafted and made with love, the better! Oh, and I’m having a modern wedding band made in brushed gold to compliment my platinum, sapphire and diamond engagement ring - antique vs modern: LOVE IT!xx
Comment by Shannon on 28 March 2008:
1. I am not planning to wear pearls. I am planning to wear a diamond necklace and diamond teardrop earrings. But my bridesmaids are wearing pearls.
3. The style is classic - a diamond strand necklace and teardrop earrings.
4. I am spending $150 to rent my necklace and $150 to purchase simulated diamond earrings. I spent $60 on each of my bridesmaids to purchase a custom made pearl necklace and earrings set.
Comment by Terrie on 28 March 2008:
1. Yes, a single strand.
2. I plan on wearing a classic set of pearls.
3. Budget is at 300.
Comment by Meagan on 28 March 2008:
1. Yes I will be wearing pearls for my wedding - my fiancee gave me some for Christmas a few years ago. I do want to replace the stud earrings with a pair of drop pearls.
2. My pearls are classic - a single white strand.
3. Budget for the earrings 75$.
Comment by Kena on 28 March 2008:
1. Yes
2. Modern, a very simple single flat coin pearl on a silver chain, with matching earrings, bought on Etsy. I wanted something understated.
3. I had budgeted about 50$ for a necklace and was planning to wear pearl earrings I already own, but found a matching set I loved for only 26$, so that was it.
Comment by Tracy on 28 March 2008:
1. Yes, as part of my drop earrings. I am only wearing earrings and my e-ring.
2. My earrings are custom made by Kris Nations. They are 18k gold, drop with fresh water pearls surrounding a green amethyst.
I paid $100 for my earrings. I am also getting custom made bridemaid necklaces (18k gold with varying shades of tourmaline). Those are 80$ each.
Comment by ACD on 28 March 2008:
Yes!!! If I had a “trademark” it would be pearls - I wear them often and proud and can’t imagine my wedding photos without me wearing pearls! However, my daily strand is looking dull, I need a new white set for the big day!
One single strand of white pearls with small pearl stud earrings. Although, I would not be opposed to trying a chunky multi strand twisted necklace- but I would keep that white if I chose that option.
My jewelry budget is around $100.
Comment by Kat on 28 March 2008:
1. Yes. I’m planning on wearing a pearl necklace and earrings… I’ll probably gift my bridesmaids necklaces and earrings as well.
2. Classic, simple white pearl strands or custom made strands… but very simple and elegant.
3. My jewelry budget is pretty flexible. Probably somewhere between $200 and $500, but I haven’t really thought it through yet.
Comment by annamarie on 28 March 2008:
1. yes! pearls are my must have. i will not be wearing a necklace but i am in search of some classic/vintage drop earrings.
2. classic/vintage. i have been scouring etsy.com and since prices are very reasonable i was considering having some one make my earrings. i would also love you to buy my bridesmaids some pearls to wear.
4. >$100
Comment by Jen Ryan on 28 March 2008:
1. I haven’t decided yet, but I’m leaning towards wearing pearls. I love the drop pearl earrings in the bottom left! I asked my Mom about jewelry from my grandmother as I’d like to honor her by wearing something of hers.
2. If I wear pearls I will likely wear the classic style. I had jewelry made for my bridesmaids (m.flynn) and they will be wearing a graduated pink pearl necklace with rose crystals and drop pink pearl earrings.
3. I haven’t even thought about a jewelry budget for me. I will likely borrow or wear something that I already own rather than buy. I suppose if I were to buy it would have to be $200 or less.
Comment by Linda on 28 March 2008:
1. Are you planning to wear pearls for your wedding? If not, what are you wearing?
I’m not sure what I’m wearing yet, but I want it to have a little bit of a vintage flair.
2. What style jewelry are you planning to wear?
a) Classic style such as a single strand of white or pink pearls.
b) Modern style such as a chunky multi-strand twisted pearl necklace that may be white or a metallic dyed color.
c) Something custom made.
Probably a mix of classic style with a little modern touch. Definitely not custom made because that usually costs way too much.
3. What is your jewelry budget?
I’ll decide the budget when I see something I want. =)
Comment by Natasha Lizarazo on 28 March 2008:
1. Are you planning to wear pearls for your wedding? If not, what are you wearing? No, I am not going to wear a necklace, just great earrings
3. What style jewelry are you planning to wear?
b) Modern style such as a chunky multi-strand twisted pearl necklace that may be white or a metallic dyed color.
4. What is your jewelry budget? I think for jewelry the sky’s the limit b/c I love it! But the earrings I want are only $100
Comment by Jen on 28 March 2008:
1. I did not plan to wear pearls, but the dress called out for them!
2. b) a modern, multistrand, very loosely twisted necklace that incorporates a few gold beads as well.
3.Jewelry budget is under $100
Comment by Robin on 28 March 2008:
1. I’m a southern girl so pearls are as necessary as the white dress!!
3. I would like the single strand around my neck but really dramatic earrings. I’m a pretty classic girl so I love to see diamonds and pearls combined together.
4. It depends on if I see something I like or have to get something custom. If it pre-made I would spend about $200. If I had to get something made, I would spend about $600-800. That being said…if I found something that I couldn’t live without then I would make it happen no matter what the cost(mikimoto here I come). Personally, quality is MUCH more important than cost.
Comment by Katie Bopp on 28 March 2008:
1. I am absolutely wearing pearls for my wedding! There is nothing more classic than pearls.
3. I am wearing drop pearl and crystal earrings. They aren’t quite chandelier, but more substantial than a simple dropped pearl. I am also wearing a pearl brooch to hold my sash at the reception. Also, a pearl and crystal comb (not tiara). I am looking for a simple pearl bracelet to complete the ensemble.
4. I don’t have a budget perse, but so far I think I have spent about 200.
Comment by Rachel on 28 March 2008:
1. Yes. My dress, the accoutrements of the bouquets, and my bridesmaids hairpins all incorporate pearls!
2. Antique that was custom made. I’m wearing my mother’s dress so I’d like something old fashion and classy.
3. $2,000 is the jewelry budget.
So glad that Style Me Pretty support up and coming designers!!
Comment by lesley. on 28 March 2008:
1. I’m wearing my fiance’s great-grandmother’s pearls - they are my something old
3. a) Classic style such as a single strand of white or pink pearls.
4. So far $0, but I think I’d be willing to pay around $100 for a bracelet and earrings.
Comment by Julia on 28 March 2008:
1.I have not yet decided what jewelry to wear. I had always assumed that I would wear pearls at my wedding but my dress is nothing like what I imagined, and a classic pearl necklace /earring combo will probably not be the best choice.
3. I will probably wear something slightly modern but with classic undertones - maybe pearl/diamond tear-drop earrings. But then again, since the dress is nothing like what I imagined, my choice of jewelry will also be totally unexpected and random.
4. About $100
Comment by phyllis on 28 March 2008:
1. Definitely pearls and silver. I’m not a flashy kind of girl, so anything with diamonds and crystals would make me feel too overdone (unless in earrings or something…small is the key).
3. I probably lie between the classic and modern spectrum. My personal preferences would probably dictate I get something custom made =)!
4. Haven’t decided yet, because my mother and her good friend have a large collection of jewelry they want to pick out of, but I’ll probably think about setting on now b/c I’d like to have a custom piece or two.
Comment by MissCapitolHill on 28 March 2008:
This was an intersting question for me b/c I started out dead set on not wearing pearls but then I found a really simple and pretty pearl cross (3 pearls long, 2 across), so that changed my decision and now all my jewelry will be pearl based.
I’m currently looking for some type of pearl drop/dangle earrings and some type of dramatic pearl braclet, and I already have silver and pearl hairpins so…
1)Yes I am wearing pearls
2) I’d say classic with a modern twist. Not as traditional as a strand of pearls and pearl stud earrings, but still with an elegant flair.
3)I really don’t think I’d spend over $400-500 for all of it, so yes that means my pearls will not be real.
Comment by Andrea on 28 March 2008:
Tara, I just LOVE your jewelry — you definitely have a new customer.
1. Yes on the pearls
3. I am definitely a classic gal, but maybe with a bit of a twist.
4. I am not considering it part of my wedding budget because I plan on wearing it long after (and possibly before…) the wedding, but I’ll probably spend at least a couple hundred for a nice necklace and earrings. (I’m not really a bracelet gal.)
Comment by Katie on 28 March 2008:
No pearls for me, I purchased small diamondique earrings that are round and hang a tiny bit and a diamondique bracelet with round diamonds from QVC. I would have loved the real thing but this will have to do. Classic style but more bling than pearls. $200.00
Comment by clairabelle on 28 March 2008:
1. I’m probably not going to wear pearls, but I might wear black pearl earrings. My dress doesn’t really work with a necklace. I am considering wearing dangling diamond (or cz or crystal) earrings or black pearl earrings. I might wear my grandmother’s pearl necklace in my hair — I will probably wear my hair half up in a half bun and I am thinking of trying to figure out a way to wrap in the necklace.
2. Definitely modern style. I would love something custom-made and would certainly consider it, but I’m not sure it’s in my budget or how I would go about finding it.
3. It really depends. Right now I’d say around $200, but that could change if I see something I’m in love with.
Comment by Mandy on 28 March 2008:
1. I can see myself wearing pearl earrings but not necklace. Since I’m still searching for the dress, it’s hard to say definitively
3. I want to wear more classic jewelry. I want people to notice it if they are looking, but not have it be a focal point.
4. Most likely around $200 but I will definitely be able to justify going over if I find something I know I can’t live without:)
Comment by Anne-Marie on 28 March 2008:
1. and 2. I recently got married and I chose to wear a mixture of diamonds and pearls. I own my own pair of solitaire pearl earrings which I planned most of my other jewelry around (my dress had a pearl and rhinestone broach that set the tone for all my jewelry as well). I borrowed a diamond and platnium bracelet from my mother and as a gift to me for the wedding my parents bought me a pearl and diamond necklace (it was a solitaire drop pearl necklace with three diamonds at the top and smaller pearls that were scattered on the strand). My dress was very vintage looking and really set the tone for all the jewelry I wore, especially since it had the brooch on it. However, I am a pearl girl, so regardless I knew that they would be incorporated into my jewelry some way or another on my wedding day:)
3. Since most of my jewelry was gifted or borrowed, there wasn’t any budget. The one piece that was specifically bought for the wedding was my necklace and that probably cost around $200. But in my experience most girls end up wearing at least one or two pieces of borrowed jewelry and then spend a couple hundred dollars on the pieces they don’t have.
Comment by Tory on 28 March 2008:
1. I’m wearing a double strand white pearl bracelet, Swarovski crystal earrings and crystal hair comb.
2. My bracelet is custom made and my earrings and hair comb are in between classic and modern.
3. The total cost of my jewelry was about $375, with my side hair comb by far being the most expensive piece. Luckily, all the jewelry is a style that I’ll wear again.

1. Pearls are a must. So classy with the white dress.
3. Custom made through Belle Vie Bridal Couture in Chicago, IL. Classic string of white pearls mixed with crystals in the front to give a lighter look and long multi-strand lariat in the back. So much fun, a great mix of classic elegance with a youthful twist. I still don’t know what kind of earing I am going to pair with the necklace, probably drop pearl. Something small though.
4. $500
Comment by Ambyr W. on 28 March 2008:
a: I am definitely wearing pearls!
b: I am either looking for the modern option of twisted strands or the more traditional 3-row pearl chocker, maybe with some sparkly bars to jazz it up. Either way, I want my piece to be delicate… nothing chunky.
c: I don’t have a jewelry budget. I’ve saved so much in other areas, that I’m looking for a gorgeous piece to pass to my future family, regardless of price.
Comment by Noelle on 28 March 2008:
1. I haven’t decided yet - I’m going for an antique look, so if I find something with pearls encorporated that fits my style, I will go with pearls.
3. antique and simple
4. I’m hoping to find my jewelry at an antique/vintage boutique, so I’m guessing I could spend anywhere from $100-$300 for everything.
Comment by Julya on 28 March 2008:
1. Yes, I’m wearing my grandmother’s pearls.
2. I plan on wearing a classic single strand. I want to keep it simple.
3. I’m getting pearls for my attendants. My budget is $75 per attendant.
Comment by valérie on 28 March 2008:
1.If i can afford it, i would like to wear pearls to my wedding
2. i would more likely wear something modern, multiple rows of pearls, probably in a grey/black/white tone as grey is part of the color theme. i would love the necklace to have some sort of decoration for the back also (like one single pearl dangling on a chain running along the spine for about 4 inches), as the dress is quite open in the back; something to decorate my upper back. this kind of design isnt really available in stores, so it would probably have to be custom made
3. unfortunately, i have a very limited budget for the whole wedding and jewelry isnt one of my priorities… the wedding is still in a year, but i can already tell i wont have much for jewelry…ill probably end up making something for myself with plastic/glass beads ill buy at a specialty bead store
Comment by Diana on 28 March 2008:
1. Yes, pearls for my wedding. (and for my bridesmaids!)
2. Classic, a strand of pearls with crystal accents.
3. $200
Comment by Kate on 28 March 2008:
1. Pearls or something crystal that sparkles.
2. b) Modern style such as a chunky multi-strand twisted pearl necklace that may be white or a metallic dyed color.
3. Around $150.
Comment by Erin on 28 March 2008:
1. I’d like to wear a multi-strand pearl necklace with shell flowers that I saw in a photo (I may making it myself). But if that doesn’t pan out, I will be wearing either my grandmother’s pearl necklace or a gold necklace given to me by my fiance (which does have a couple of seed pearls on the pendant).
3. Depends. The necklace I am picturing is definitely not traditional and would fall into (B/C). My grandmother’s is (A), a two-strand. And the gold necklace is art deco style, so could be (A) or (B) depending on your definition.
4. Ideally $50, realistically $100.
Comment by Amanda on 28 March 2008:
1. I’m toying with possibility of pearls. Either that or drop filagree earrings
My dress ncekline has jewels on it so only earrings- no necklace.
3. What style jewelry are you planning to wear?
c) Something custom made.
4. What is your jewelry budget? $200 or less
Comment by H on 28 March 2008:
1. Yes.
3. Something custom made. Single pearl on very delicate
4. $200 for me, but looking to purchase custom made jewelry for bridesmaids about $75 each.
Comment by Erika on 28 March 2008:
1. Are you planning to wear pearls for your wedding? If not, what are you wearing? yes I would like to but i haven’t found what I’m looking for yet
3. What style jewelry are you planning to wear?
b) Modern style- I’ve been looking for a pearl choker but they are either to bulky or too thin. My dress is Ivory (Maggie Sottero Vienna) so I think ivory ones would look great with it.
4. What is your jewelry budget? Pretty low. My fiance and I wanted a wedding where we could invite everyone close to us which has now reached about 280-300 people! So I’m trying to watch what I buy so for the pearls it would have to be under $100….and maybe i can squeeze some earrings in there too
Comment by Christine on 28 March 2008:
1. Yes, I have seen some necklaces that are use pearls for a more contempory design, and that’s what I am looking to find. But, I am also open to other ideas.
3. What style jewelry are you planning to wear?
Either option B or C
4. My budget sorta depends on what I find. I think it could be anywhere from $35 to $100
Comment by Erika on 28 March 2008:
I just read on the site that a lot of the pearl items can’t be sent to California because of a lead law

Comment by katie on 28 March 2008:
1. I am planning on wearing pearls. they last a lifetime and only get more beautiful as they age.
3. I am wearing a classic single strand necklace and custom made earings.
4. my jewlery budget is $800-$1000 because pearls do last a lifetime and are what i consider a worthy investment.
Comment by Amy on 28 March 2008:
1. Yes, I want to wear pearls for my wedding.
2. Probably a), something simple, classic, and delicate. My dress is ivory and is a sheath lacy style, so something to complement the ‘vintage’ look of it.
3. I don’t really have a set budget, but fairly low. About $100 or so.
Comment by Meghan Perstac on 28 March 2008:
1. Yes, I am doing a vintage look of gold and pearls for myself and my bridesmaids.
I have personalized pearl and gold initialed bracelets for the girls, as well as small gold/pearl earnings for them.
2. I have nothing for myself yet! I have literally pushed myself onto the back burner for this wedding!! I have yet to find a pearl piece that I love.
I would like to combine a classic look with a vintage style, as that is what my dress resembles.
3. I have a small budget, maybe $50-$100.
Thanks for your time and consideration! I would love to contribute to her business!
Comment by Jeni on 28 March 2008:
1. Though I haven’t bought (or looked at) a dress yet, I really want to wear my pearl necklace, a gift from my fiance when we were dating.
2. My pearl necklace is round pink pearls separated by delicate white gold chain. (a la the “Tin Cup” necklace)
3. My jewelry budget is $0 at this point because I already have beautiful pearls to wear. However, I would spend up to $100.
Also, I have been dreaming of bridesmaid necklaces featuring a grey coin-type pearl with birthstone briolettes dangling from the top/side, one of my birthstone (peridot) and one for the respective bridesmaid…
Comment by Jan on 28 March 2008:
1. No necklace, maybe brown pearl earrings-chandelier or similar drop style.
3. Custom made–I’ve got to check out your site.
4. Budget around $100
Good luck on your business and thanks for giving us a chance to win something!
Comment by Tara Andrews on 28 March 2008:
Hi everyone,
Thank you so much for all the positive responses.
I wanted to comment on Erika’s post. There is a law that just passed in California preventing the sale of jewelry items containing lead. Although many of my pieces have silver plated clasps, solid sterling silver is allowed. I am able to ship pearls with solid sterling silver clasps to California, just not plated. I am in the process of making more pearls with solid metal clasps.
Keep the posts coming!!!
Tara
Comment by Krista on 28 March 2008:
1. No, I’m not going to wear pearls, although I think they are a great, classic wedding look. I plan to just wear some chandalier earrings with crystals.
2. c) Something custom made.
3. I hope fo find a pair of earrings for less than $100.
Comment by Brittinee on 28 March 2008:
Molly strader studios made earings just like the cluster earrings in your right hand top photo for my wedding 9/22/07…maybe they need to collaborate!
Comment by Emily on 28 March 2008:
1. Pearls
3. Classic
4. $100
Comment by Sarah on 28 March 2008:
I made my own wedding jewellery and combined crystals and pearls.
My dress was an unusual colour (bronze/brown) and I made the necklace from peachy coloured pearls with small topaz Swarovski crystals between in a single strand. I also incorporated an old gold medallion that belonged to my grandmother. I made topaz crystal stud earrings to match.
Because I made my own I didn’t really have a jewellery budget.
Tara, your jewellery is gorgeous
Comment by Kate on 28 March 2008:
1. Yes, I am planning on wearing pearls.
2. A classic single strand of white pearls (an heirloom from my grandmother) and a custom pendant necklace and earrings of silver and pearls.
3. $100 for the pendant necklace and earrings. I’m also considering pearls for bridesmaid gifts, I’m budgeting $50 per girl.
Comment by Laurel on 28 March 2008:
1. Are you planning to wear pearls for your wedding? If not, what are you wearing?
Yes! The pearl is my birth stone and I love them.
3. What style jewelry are you planning to wear?
right now it is looking like a single pearl as I dont have a strand with multiples, or any thing custom as yet.
4. What is your jewelry budget?
probably about $200 but that isn’t set.
Comment by mcb on 28 March 2008:
1. I’m planning to wear my grandmother’s pearls and south sea pearl stud earrings
2. a) a single 14-inch strand.
3. My jewelry budget for myself is $0, unless I decide a brooch goes with my dress (haven’t picked one yet!) My bridesmaid jewelry budget is under $100.
Comment by Jen on 28 March 2008:
1. I plan on wearing a pearl necklace and bracelet for my August wedding.
3. I have a very detailed dress, so I picture myself in a classic, single strand necklace and a multi strand bracelet.
4. I don’t have a budget.
Comment by Lisa on 28 March 2008:
1. Are you planning to wear pearls for your wedding? If not, what are you wearing?
I have actually decided to go with diamonds since my BM’s will be having crystal brooches on their dresses. I thought this might match a little better.
3. What style jewelry are you planning to wear?
a) Classic style such as a single strand of white or pink pearls.
b) Modern style such as a chunky multi-strand twisted pearl necklace that may be white or a metallic dyed color.
c) Something custom made.
If I were wearing pearls I would go with option A
4. What is your jewelry budget?
I would say approx. $150-300
Comment by Mandy on 28 March 2008:
1. I am wearing some pearl like jewelry that was my great grandmothers and ironically my grandmother just passed away and she has earrings to match so I am wearing those since they are sentimental.
3. My style is much more classic and simple…don’t want to take away from the detail of the dress!!
4. What is your jewelry budget? Hopefully I don’t have to buy any other jewelry except maybe a bracelet so maybe $75 max?
Comment by brooke on 28 March 2008:
1. I am planning to wear pearl jewelry on my wedding day, since my gown has lots of beading and pearl-ish detailing!
3. I would like to wear something custom made, a bit classic with a modern twist, to specifically complement my taste and my gown…. after all, isn’t your wedding the perfect excuse to have things custom made for you?
4. I don’t have a specific budget… I don’t want to go overboard but I’m willing to pay for the “right” pieces that will top off the bridal look
Comment by Carly on 28 March 2008:
1. I am wearing a large antique ivory necklace, passed down from my grandmother for the ceremony and changing into a simple strand of pearls for the reception. I don’t own any pearls pieces, but my FMIL has offered to let me borrow a pearl necklace she owns. I do need simple coordinating pearl earrings though.
3. What style jewelry are you planning to wear?
I prefer a classic style - my dress is lace and very romantic so anything too busy/ornate would be too much.
I have the perfect picture in mind of myself with a simple strand of ivory/white pearls, pearl earrings, & my hair in a low chignon with a small gardena pinned at the back.
4. What is your jewelry budget?
My jewelry budget is no more than $100. With dress alterations, shoes, bridal hair & makeup, not to mention everything else that goes into planning a wedding (my fiance and I are paying for the event in full)- I barely have enough funds left over to treat myself.
Best of luck to you, Tara! Your work is very beautiful.
Comment by Stacy on 28 March 2008:
1. Yes
3. Classic Style
4. I don’t plan on spending very much. Not sure of an actual budget though.
Comment by Claudia on 28 March 2008:
1. I am not a pearl kind of girl so I am planning on wearing a simple gold necklace with a pendant that embraces my maya culture.
2. I’ve definitely been window shopping at etsy for something custom made.
3. My budget for jewlery is non existent. I barely can afford my dress and shoes! So I’ll probably be looking for items totaling under $100.

2. my answer is…
a) Classic style such as a single strand of white or pink pearls.
3. ah-under $100 probably.
Comment by Mirella on 28 March 2008:
1. Yes, I love pearls (and diamonds!). I don’t really wear anything else besides fun costume pieces here and there to jazz up a more conservative outfit.
3. a. I’m a classic kind of girl, with a little bit of a twist. I like simple yet artistic/interesting.
4. My budget is $100-$200, depending on how much I love the pieces and if I could wear them again.
Thanks! Your jewelry is beautiful - I love having a chance to win!
Comment by Brandi on 28 March 2008:
1. I’m still deciding on whether I’m wearing pearls or not. My dress color is actually labeled “pearl”, so I think it would be fun too!
2. I’m planning on something classic. My dress is simple and romantic- and rather than take away from it- I want to enhance the look with something equally simple and elegant.
3. My jewely budget is around $100.
Comment by Katie on 28 March 2008:
1. I am actually planning on wearing pearls - they were my one “must have” item! I am going to wear the same pearls that my grandmother received on her wedding anniversary, and that were passed down to me in her will.
3. A. I am a classic style girl, so the pearls are a simple strand necklace, however I am changing it up a bit by wearing them as a double strand bracelet.
4. I never really set a budget, since the necklace/bracelet was passed down, and I received my earrings as a gift. But, I found a gorgeous necklace that would work perfectly with my dress, so my new budget is now $250.
Comment by Michelle on 29 March 2008:
1. Yes, they are classic and fit the style of my dress
3. I will be wearing: c) Something custom made. My MOH had a string designed and made for me by an independent jeweller. I am now looking for a pair of earrings to go with it!
4. I’m willing to spent $100-$150 max on the earrings
Comment by Anne on 29 March 2008:
1. Yes, my whole jewelry ensemble is pearls.
2. I’m wearing a classic double strand pearl necklace with a figure 8 closure. My necklace and earrings are custom made from a store in Chicago. They have both pearls and crystals and are a little more contemporary than the necklace but still very simple. I love that no one else will have jewelry like I do and that it’s not the long, linear crystal earrings that so many other people wear.
3. My earrings were $100, the bracelet was a gift from my mom, and the necklace I had prior to the wedding. I hadn’t worn it very often b/c the clasp needed to be fixed, so it still looks perfect. For pearl jewelry, I would have spent up to $500 on the necklace if it was something I would wear for the rest of my life and pass down to my kids. If it was really “blingy” and trendy, I would spend a lot less as I probably wouldn’t wear it again (or very infrequently if I did).
Comment by Natalie on 29 March 2008:
1. Yes, I am wearing pearls… I adore them!
2. I am wearing a single strand of creamy/ivory coloured freshwater pearls with a central pink pearl (with crystal studded rondelles either side of this central pearl). My earrings are the same creamy/ivory colour single pearl that drop from a hook.
3. I was very fortunate to have my mum give me my jewellery, but if I had to purchase my jewellery I would have budgeted around AUD$200-300.
Comment by Caroline on 29 March 2008:
1. Yes, they are classically beautiful.
2. I would like to wear custom made drop pearl earrings. Classic and elegant, but with a twist! Although I love the dark tahitian pearls, I will definitely be going with the white version for my wedding day.
4. My budget is around 200-300 dollars, but it depends on what I find.
Comment by brianne sheppard on 29 March 2008:
1. Pretty sure I’ll be wearing pearls.. classic, elegant
2. MOdern style, I’m a young bride-to-be and want something alittle edgier while still respecting tradtion. I LOVE pearls that have been accented with a little bling on the chain too, as a medallion, or perndant (perhaps our monograms on a little small silver circle on the strand somewhere!) MIght have to be custom
3. Up to 500.00 CAD. Its a heirloom in the making right?
Hope that hekps!
Comment by Amy on 29 March 2008:
1. No, but I’m still thinking about this one. If they fit into the answer below, I would consider them.
2. Something vintage/art deco-looking with a modern twist.
3. Gah, maybe around $200?
Comment by Leanne Marquis on 29 March 2008:
1. I *am* planning on wearing pearls… And that pic on the bottom left is *exactly* what I had in mind!
3. A. I want a simple vintage inspired classic style.
4. I haven’t set one yet… I haven’t set a budget for the whole wedding yet. But it’s low. Very low.
Those are all beautiful!
Comment by sunclytie on 29 March 2008:
1) I love pearls–I have dark hair and pale skin so I would definitely consider wearing pearls on my wedding day. Maybe in a tiara.
2) I love modern jewelry and love the look of a few strands of pearls together. Pearls are beautiful when used in unexpected ways.
3) Beautiful earrings (I have short hair) and necklaces are just me. I’m expecting to budget between 5 and 7 hundred dollars for jewelry. It would be great to have pieces I could wear again!
Comment by Aileen on 29 March 2008:
1. I think I’m wearing diamonds. My aunt always brings brides in our family jewelry to wear - she has exquisite pieces.
3. I like classic pieces. Understated is always best to me.
4. No budget. We just bought our rings and I have my e-ring - no need to buy more stuff… although… I did see an fantastic chain with diamonds in it at the jewelry store when I went to pick up our rings - $10K
Comment by Maria on 29 March 2008:
1. I love pearls (especially Tahitian and black)! Pearl is my birthstone. I considered wearing them but my dress is very simple so I wanted something with a little sparkle. I looked at dozens of necklaces with pearls and CZ or crystals. I ended up finding a vintage silver necklace with aurora borealis crystals. Still looking for earrings…
4. My budget is $50-$70
You’ve designed some really beautiful pieces!
Comment by Megan on 29 March 2008:
I am planning to wear pearls (I hope to find earrings that have both pearls and something a little sparkly). Likely something more modern than classic. My budget’s around $300.
Comment by Antonette Cabey on 29 March 2008:
1)I am wearing pearls
2) I’ve got a 3 strand pearl vintage choker with diamonte droplet in the centre and diamonte clasp
3)I wanted something timeless and that I could wear ago/pass on as a family heirloom. I’m also wearing a vintage pearl, diamonte and silver cuff with diamonte clasp. I’ve spent over $1000 and didn’t set a budget as such. I just wanted something unique and timeless.
Comment by aine on 29 March 2008:
1. Maybe
2. modern with a classic twist - love the multi pearl necklace shown above.. or maybe chandelier earrings
3. my budget is under $200 for all my jewelry
Comment by Christina on 29 March 2008:
1. I hope so! I love the classy look and feel of pearls. I just need to find the right ones!
2. Definitely something classic and simple.
3. I’d like to keep it under 50 unless I see something I’ll want to wear everyday afterwards!
Comment by Rebecca on 29 March 2008:
1. Yes, I was thinking pearls to match the K Autumn hairpin I’ve ordered and/or a colorful natural jewel in blue or orange.
3. Probably closer to “a) Classic style such as a single strand of white or pink pearls” in order to balance out the wild & wonderful hairpiece and the colorful garden flowers of my bouquet.
4. What is your jewelry budget?: Around $400 for hair, necklace and earrings. I’m really hoping to find all handmade pieces as I feel very strongly about local artisans & eco-friendliness.
Your work is lovely, Tara–best of luck to you!
Comment by Julie on 29 March 2008:
1. I L-O-V-E pearls and wear them several times every week, so it’s only fitting that I sport them on my wedding day! My bridesmaid gift will likely be a single-strand pearl necklace for each of my girls.
2. I’m going for a classic, timeless look that won’t embarass me, my husband, or our future children when we look at wedding pictures together years from now! A necklace with three strands of medium-sized pearl recently caught my eye–very elegant.
3. My goal is to spend less than $200 on my wedding jewelry (this bit is not included in the overall wedding budget, but will be spent by yours truly as a treat to myself and momento for the future).
Thank you!
Comment by Melissa on 29 March 2008:
1. I will be wearing pearls
2. I am looking at wearing coin pearls. I love the casual/vintage look they have.

Comment by Rachel on 29 March 2008:
1. Yep! Having a June birthday, they’re already my birthstone…
2. Keeping the options open…
3. $150ish
Comment by Nikki on 29 March 2008:
1. My bracelet is pearls, but I haven’t decided on earrings yet. Probably some crystal stones, maybe with a pearl…
2. More on the vintage side. 3-strand pearl bracelet with an antique clasp.
3. $100-200
Comment by Casie C on 29 March 2008:
1. I am wearing my grandmother’s single strand pearl necklace. She has passed away, so I am honored to be wearing them. It will be my something old and something borrowed from my mother. I am also wearing pearl stud earrings that my fiance bought me from Tiffany’s.
2. My dress is all ivory lace, so I am going with a classic look.
3. I am only wearing the necklace and earrings. Since my dress is lace, a bracelet would would just snag. I guess I don’t need to buy any bridal jewelry, but I do love pearls.

c) Something custom made.
4. What is your jewelry budget?

What beautiful pieces!!
1. I am considering a delicate strand of pearls. They’re so classic. Either that or an antique style diamond necklace. Something simple, yet elegant. I would also consider just great chandelier type earrings… I love those!
3. a) Classic style such as a single strand of white or pink pearls or
c) Something custom made… I’m still looking through pics and finding styles that I like.
4. I got a ridiculous deal on my dress, so I have a little more room to play with my jewlery. I’d love to find something that is special enough for a wedding day, but that I can also wear with something other than a gown.
Comment by Jama on 30 March 2008:
1. Yes, my dress has a beaded sash with pearls in it, so I wanted to accesorize with them.
3. I am wearing a classic strand, but would have definitely opted for something more modern or custom made, had they not been a family piece - much more my style!
4. Because mine are family heirlooms, I didn’t really have one, but I probably would have been from $50-100
Comment by Sarah K. on 30 March 2008:
1. I recently got married, and I wore my mother’s pearl necklace which was given to her by her mother. I also purchased pearl earrings from the jewelry designer who made my engagement ring and wedding band.
3. I feel that my style was more classic. I wore the pearl earring and necklace and mixed in sapphires and diamonds. My engagement ring is a diamond, and my wedding band is made of diamonds and sapphires. I borrowed a bracelet from my aunt and godmother which was made of diamonds and sapphires as well.
4. Everything was borrowed except for my pearl earrings which i purchased for $200.
Thanks

1. I am planning to wear pearls that I received as a gift when I was 18. It is a classic strand of graduated pearls.
3. The pearls I will be wearing are a classic style of a single strand of white pearls.
4. My jewelry budget is going for bridesmaids gifts since I already have my own strand. I was looking to spend around $50 for each girl’s jewelry.
Comment by Carissa Towne on 30 March 2008:
1. Yes! I am planning on wearing pearls with my dress.
3. I love the look of a classic-style single strand of white or cream strand of pearls. This look complements my dress and fits with the overall theme of our wedding - and life! - well.
4. My jewelry budget is fairly small - under $100 for my jewelry and $30-40 for each of my bridesmaids.
Your jewelry is beautiful - thank you for the opportunity to win one of your peices!
Comment by Marita on 30 March 2008:
1. I am definitely hoping to wear some kind of pearl jewelry for my wedding. My dress (which my mother is in the process of making!) has an embroidered net overlay with tiny pearl beading all over, so I know I want to continue the pearl theme in my jewelry.
2. I suppose I am looking for something custom-made (c), in a very simple yet elegant style. I have been searching through etsy, and seen lots of beautiful creations, but I’m not ready to buy until my mother and I get a little further with dress design decisions! We’re almost there though, so I think in a few weeks I’ll have decided if I want a pendant-style or strand-style necklace. I know I want some medium-large dangly earrings, and I love styles that combine pearls with a little sparkle!
3. My budget is on the small side - probably around $100.
Comment by Anna Broughton on 30 March 2008:
Hi,
Your line looks absolutely stunning! I intend to wear pearls for my wedding but I haven’t choosen my dress yet. My budget is small, around $100 - $200 (New Zealand dollars!!) so I think I will wear my own pearls that my Mother gave me for my University graduation present (classic style, single string, white). However, I intend to buy new pearl earings to match - I think classical pearl drops would be divine!
Comment by Christina on 30 March 2008:
1. yes
3. I was thinking one pearl, hanging down. (I am wearing a silk halterish dress)
4. I haven’t thought about it yet - probably about $200
Comment by Nina on 30 March 2008:
1 & 3. I just wore pearls for my wedding. I borrowed a necklace and matching earings from my mother that were antique gold, with single pearl drops for the necklace and earings.
4. My jewelry budget was $300 until I decided to borrow my mother’s jewelry.
P.S. My favorite necklace in the world is a single strand of white pearls. I’ve had them forever, and I wear them almost every day. Your line is beautiful, and I can’t wait to see more!
Comment by Emma on 31 March 2008:
1. I’m planning on pearls
3. Classic - a strand of pearls at the neck, possibly funkier earrings and simple pearls in the hair
4. Budget about $200

Comment by Cecilia on 31 March 2008:
1. Are you planning to wear pearls for your wedding? Yes, goes well with my 50s style dress in thai silk.
3. What style jewelry are you planning to wear? a)Classic necklace, one lage pearl only or a single strand.Little less classic earrings I, love longer earings like the dew drop by Vivianna Torun Bülow-Hübe for Georg Jensen - perfect for me with short hair.
4. What is your jewelry budget? Turning 30 around my wedding date and hoping for some nice gifts so havent set a budget but otherwise around $200
Comment by Barbara on 31 March 2008:
1) Yes, in some way, definitely. Pearls are my birthstone, and I wear my pearl earrings almost every day. My dress has a gorgeous brooch on it with crystals, so I would like to incorporate both.
2) Probably a combination of classic and modern. Whatever it is, I don’t want it to be so formal that I’ll hardly ever get to wear the jewelry again. I tend to be more of a classic girl, but I absolutely love funky bracelets. I’m not wearing a necklace, as it would interrupt the line of the dress. I just need some great earrings and a bracelet.
3) Jewelry budget depends on what I find. If I find the right bracelet that can be worn over and over, I might go up to $500. I’d like to keep it under $200, though.
Comment by Jessica on 31 March 2008:
1. Yes, I am absolutely wearing pearls on my wedding day. I am planning on wearing my grandmother’s pearls and possibly an additional strand of something or other.
3. Oh goodness.. I haven’t thought about that yet, but I suppose I would want to keep it under $200, nice and simple.
2. I am usually more classic… single strand. But I do love a twist, just nothing too crazy
Comment by Lisa on 31 March 2008:
1) Absolutely. I have always loved pearls because they are romantic and versatile.
3.
c) My wedding theme is simple elegance, so a classic single strand would be best.
4) Small, less than $300 for all jewelry and hair pins.

1. Are you planning to wear pearls for your wedding? If not, what are you wearing?
I haven’t decided on the jewelry yet. I am going for a 1950’s glam look so it is a possibility! I do know that I am wearing a feather hair pin.
3. What style jewelry are you planning to wear?
a) Classic style such as a single strand of white or pink pearls.
b) Modern style such as a chunky multi-strand twisted pearl necklace that may be white or a metallic dyed color.
I would like a classic style with a modern twist. I’m focusing more on the earrings, I want something really dramatic, like big drop earrings.
4. What is your jewelry budget?
Hopefully under $200
Comment by Lisa from Blush on 31 March 2008:
1. I wore pearls for our wedding. It was the strand my Father gave my Mother on their first wedding anniversary. For the earrings I wanted pearl drop earrings with a little bling and Mom only had studs. They were hard to come by so I had them custom made.
3. My jewellery was definitely classic, a single strand. The earrings, like I said above were custom, but very classically designed.
4. My budget was about $300. The necklace was “borrowed” and free of course, the earrings were around $100 and I also wore a (non-pearl) antique bracelet.
Thanks! Hope this helps, it’s fun to reminisce. Your jewellery is beautiful by the way!
Comment by Linda on 31 March 2008:
I am wearing pearls on my wedding day. I am wearing my mother’s wedding day pearls as my something old. They are very classic- two strand white and stud earrings. I am also buying pearl necklaces and earrings for my bridesmaids.
Comment by Julie on 31 March 2008:
I would like to wear pearls as my dress is fairly old-fashioned. I would prefer something in a drop or a custom piece that’ll work with the laced-up sweetheart neckline.
I am also thinking about gifting my bridesmaids with some type of pearls for their outfits.
I think my budget is around $350 or less if possible.

–i’m going for a ‘classic’ look.
4. What is your jewelry budget?

Comment by Crystal on 31 March 2008:
1) I will be wearing fresh water pearls for my wedding, as will my bridemaids. We will each wear our own color necklaces with matching earrings, and I have a headband with pearls on it.
2) Our necklaces are all silver with a pearl pendant. They are handmade and my headband was custom made!
3) Because my bridesmaids gifts are their jewelry my budget was a little larger, and I had priced it out @ $200. It ended up being $210 but I LOVE my jewelry and wouldn’t change a thing!!

Yes, earrings and bracelet. Also a hair pin that is a silk flower with rhinestones in the center.
3. What style jewelry are you planning to wear?
c) something custom made. I am getting triple strands of pearls as earrings - no necklace, and a simple strand of pearls for my bracelet.
4. What is your jewelry budget?
500$. I want this to be special, but of course that also includes hair jewelry.
Comment by Rachel on 31 March 2008:
1. Yes, I’m planning to wear pearls.
2.I’m looking for something modern, hopefully something not too formal, that I could wear again. Either some big pearl earrings and a bracelet, or a twisted strand, kind of funky necklace.
3. Hoping to stay under $200
Comment by Thea on 31 March 2008:
1. I’m definitely wearing pearls- am going for that old Hollywood glam look (on a budget of course!)
2. I want to keep the look fresh, so I want to wear a multistrand pearl necklace with each strand being a different size pearl and length. If I can’t find a good necklace, then will go heavier on the bracelets and earrings. Custom would be great, but I’d love to find something readymade.
3. I bought some pearl strand bracelets in SF Chinatown for cheap… so I’m thinking the rest of the jewelry should be under $100!
Comment by villain on 31 March 2008:
I spent about $150 on the necklace and earrings that I had made by a wonderful Etsy artisan. A fine gold chain, 6 garnets, and a blue topaz (my wedding colors). Gold hoops with a blue topaz dangling.
Comment by Rebecca Pettineo on 31 March 2008:
- I am thinking about doing pearls. My dress is going to be all lace and I think pearls will look the best.
- I am planning on wearing something a little more modern, with multi-strands. I would prefer it to be custom made, so that I have something unique.
- Budget will be around $200, because I hope to wear the jewelry after the wedding too
Comment by erin on 31 March 2008:

I will be wearing a necklace from Sarah Jordan, it’s from her Flow Range. The necklace has one large 14mm black south sea pearl in it. I got it as a present from my fiance on my 29:th b’day.
2. My style is more contemporary.
3. I think that necklace was over $2000, but i’m not planning to add anything else except maybe a pair of small earings. Black Opal I think

2. Definitely classic, timeless.
3. Small–around $100.
Comment by Ann on 1 April 2008:
1. Not sure on the neck, maybe nothing.
The earrings in the top right would be something I would be interested in - pearls, but not old fashioned. I would love to find a bunch or pearl, crystal and silver bracelets.
2. My style is classic and bold.
3. I would love to keep it at $100.
