From Robyn…

I knew from day one when we got engaged that I wanted to get married in a barn. Being from Vermont, when I told people…they of course thought I was crazy. The first thing most people wanted to know was when during the wedding was the milking contest! :)

But this barn is not your typical barn. It is an old beautiful restored Round Barn. My grandfather was very ill before Keith and I got engaged. We spent a lot of time going back and forth visiting him at the hospital. One night ,while staying at this place, I was reading through a Vermont Life magazine sitting on his coffee table and stumbled across an ad for The Round Barn Farm in Waitsfield, Vermont. From that day on I told my mom when and if I got married, that was where it would be.

Of course I think I made the best decision. Our wedding weekend was truly magically to say the least. Not to mention, I felt as though my grandfather was looking down on us smiling that he had found the perfect place for us.

I have always considered myself to be a creative person, but it wasn’t until the wedding planning kicked into gear that I realized how much I could do myself. Of course, it was extremely overwhelming at times :) But I am a frequent reader of Style Me Pretty and Wedding Bee, so that only inspired me that much more.

Overall, I could not have been happier with the way the day turned out. We are still getting compliments from our guests on how wonderful the weekend was. To me that makes everything worth it.

We have more photos from this lovely wedding coming, so stay tuned!

I would love to ask robyn a few questions...it is amazing, her wedding is EXACTLY everything I want (except chocalate accents instead of purple)... It blew my mind how similar our tastes are, right down to the striped tie and the flower arrangements...

if there is anyway I can email her to ask her a few questions, that would be wonderful!

    Thanks :)

    Hi Robyn!
What a beautiful wedding! I just picked my bridesmaid dresses and they are very similar in color to yours. The palette I am thing of using is also similar!
What types of flowers did you have?
What time of year was your wedding?

  4. Robyn says:

Thanks! Our wedding was in September.

To be honest I wasn’t too picky about the actual types of flowers that were used. I just knew the colors and the style of flowers I wanted. My florist did an amazing job of reading exactly what I wanted after our many discussions and meetings. I never saw a mock up or anything beforehand. The florist I chose however does grow a lot of her own flowers on her property. So I used mainly flowers that were in season. These are just a few I can remember off the top of my head: Hydrangeas, lisianthus, dahlias, freesia, ranunculus, zinnias, white scabiosa, sweet peas, bachelor buttons, hypernicum berries and nicotiana.

Those are some of the flowers that my florist has recommended as well!! I had a feeling that they were similar because that is what I pictured when she and I talked about it last!
My wedding is in November. For me I really like the idea of the ivory/green with the dress color!
I loved your striped ties too! It looks from the pictures that they were all different. Where did you get them?

  6. Robyn says:

The groomsmen ties were all the same. Those are all from JCrew. I originally wanted a dark purple one for them but I had a hard time finding one that would match the bridesmaid’s dresses. I let my husband pick out his own tie and he picked out the dark silver and black tie which was from Brooks Brothers. I then saw the dark solid silver ties from JCrew and they were on sale for $9.99 so I figured I just had to get them :) I was happy with the way it all pulled together and everyone wasn't too matchy.

    Everything looks beautiful!!!!

I am sure I will have more questions!
    thanks!

    Hi Robyn,

I am actually getting married at the RBF in October, and Daria is our photographer. After seeing all your beautiful wedding pictures, I almost feel like I know you! I really admired how simply elegant everything was. Would it be possible to email you a couple questions regarding the barn setup?

    Beautifully done!

It looks like my last comment was taken off somehow. If you post your email address I would be more than happy to answer any questions you have.
